    these mythological stories were handed down from centuries since the Spanish colonization of the Philippines , well except for the white lady which is just decades ago.

    • @Genkuro
      @Genkuro 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      *Even earlier than the Spanish Colonization. And yes, the White Lady is fairly new.*

      if i think of it , isnt white lady a ghost and not a mythical creature , ghost and creature i think its not , but if the white lady is a mythical creature let me know cause i have no idea

      oh and white lady's are new cause it said white lady's was hit by a car and cars in phillippines was... made like the 19th century.

    • @ericflores8319
      @ericflores8319 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      yes, it started to be popular in the 1970s, and yes you can classify it as a ghost.

    • @michsato154
      @michsato154 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some consider them as mythical creatures, but they are mostly referred to as ghosts. They are usually spirits, but it's not necessary for them to have a death where they were hit by a car to be called a "White Lady". I'm guessing Mikey just used the "hit by a car" thing so it can fit the lyrics. So yeah, the term "White Lady" is new, but they are still technically ghosts so they are pretty much here forever.

    Hahaha this was the first video of Mikey that I saw. I used to hear his name a lot but never really look into him, until I came across this on Facebook. XD
    But yeah, most of these are adaptations from other cultures I believe. I have personally seen a white lady in our house twice, and there was one time when we were kids, my sis woke up in the middle of the night and saw a lady with hair longer than her body, hugging me in my sleep.
    The duwende(elf) are said to be mischievous creatures that would follow you if you step/disrespect their mound. So when people see a mound(or an anthill), they are told to say "tabi tabi po" which roughly means "excuse me", and give offerings of food or whatever. The white lady, I believe, if you don't stop for her, you'll see her eyes in your rear-view mirror, when she reappears inside your car. The tikbalang is basically a reverse centaur, head of a horse, body of a man. I think a part of their myth is that they rape women at night. There's a saying here that when it rains but the sun's out, there's a tikbalang getting married somewhere. Manananggals, if I'm not mistaken, are said to devour babies in pregnant women's wombs, using that long ass tongue, and you can kill it if you can find it's lower half and pour salt on it, haha.
    I don't believe in ghosts despite having seen a white lady twice, but that's way too long ago and I believe it's just my child mind playing tricks on me. XD

      @YukariSF 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      And the lot beside our house used to have a giant tree. As in massive. It stands as tall as our house, and our house is 4 stories high. Neighbors across our house tell us that when they have a party, and visitors stay in their balcony, they see a kapre in the tree. The tree was cut down 3 years ago though, a new house has been built there since. The new neighbors are assholes so we're wishing that whatever's in there haunts them lmao

    "psssssst" thats how we called a ghost or an enkanto here in the philippines... I have that gift that they talk like creepy.. Yeahh i see ghost for real.. And the hanging one was freeking me out... Ive seen worst to worst kind of ghost...
    Try to mouthed that pssssst ... As often as you want... And its gonna come for you
    .. That lower half. Was the lower torso
    And the one with the wings was upper torso... Its split itself into half... Its called Manananggal... You can kill that thing. If you find the lower torso,,, then spill salt and tomato sauce on it... Then its gonna melt like an acid.. But carefull co z the upper torso is gonna feel whats happening in its lower. So better hurry and hide.. As possible.. Becoz that creature gonna hunt you... Until its sunrise... Then it cannot be attched to its body.. And when the sun showed up.... Its gonna explode
    ... Heehehe😅😅😅 its true btw

      Omg me too. What freaked me out is when my father took me to his work, he's an entrepreneur so whevener I tag along with him it's always warehouses/restaurants but there was this warehouse I will never forget. My little cousin tagged along with us and he was so excited and he was the first one to come in the warehouse but he immediately got out and he fearfully said "bali" which means broken/bent and I got inside and nothing was there but it still felt like "someone else" was there so I played some mobile games to distract myself from the creepy feeling for a while then I noticed something moving, there was a girl, she was bloody, her legs were bent to her shoulders and she was using her hands to pace forward and her mouth and eyes which are empty is pouring with blood and suddenly a sack fell down on her and her body squished then I woke up at the warehouse, turns out I fell asleep but what kinda freaked me out is the word "bali" like my little cousin said literally is one word to describe the girl in my dream

    Fun Fact:
    The _Duwende_ isn't originally from the Philippines. It was borrowed from the Spanish who borrowed it from the local Mayans/Aztecs in what is now Mexico. The _duwende_ in the Philippines are slightly different from the ones in Mexico because of how stories evolve and change in different cultures, but they are still very similar especially in that they're both goblins/elves.

    Alicia, YOUR story creeped me out. No wonder that was how you reacted to the old lady that gave Mikey the third eye. I also believe in ghosts. Haven't seen any as I'm not clairvoyant, but I'm slight;ly clairaudient. I have met various people who see or have experienced ghosts, etc, and they have no reason to make up stories. One even had a scary doppleganger experience (she's asked me not to tell anyone). If I can also only be sure, I also experienced something at a mountain and, for some reason, I thought I saw myself walking with a group in broad day light. Alas, I cannot prove these fully even to myself. BUT, I did have a weird experience watching WHEEL OF FORTUNE and JEOPARDY.
    Some creatures were made up by the Spaniards so that Filipinos would stay put at home at night and not be planning anything. But there ARE stories that cannot be explained.
    My father told me he actually encountered a White Lady when he was going home from visiting my mother when they weren't married yet. He also said he wasn't sure, but one time, he believed he could hear a tikbalang (half-man, half-horse) outside the hut he was in. Meanwhile, while I was growing up, my mother had a white female duwende (dwarf) friend--I don't know where she is now, but my mother would not make up something like that till she died. I once asked her if she was just saying that, but she almost got mad at me. Many actually believed her and the duwende helped her help other people. One time, a family came to visit. Having left our house for maybe 10 minutes, they came back 'cause the child (well, teen child) told the parents she actually saw the duwende. She described Tita (Aunt) Nerry (that's what we called her 'cause her name was Nerissa) and my mother said that yes, that was Tita Nerry. I wanted to see her, too. I'd like to believe that was her I dreamt of once, but maybe that was just totally a dream.
    These creatures maybe true, however much we hope most of them aren't. Our eldest swears he saw a kapre (hairy giant smoking tobacco on top of tree) when he was smaller. But he gets scared easily, it may be he just made himself believe it. Also, one of my BFFs shared a confidential story that her co-worker shared when he and some others went somewhere in Europe. They stayed at a place where they were attacked by a scary ghoul-like creature.

      IKR. Sometimes, it's just easier to pretend they don't exist. Well, evil does lurk in the hearts of men anyway (not that all elementals like the duwende are evil). We don't need creatures to believe that. "Normal" people are already pretty messed up. Just look at what we do to one another.

    Tikbalangs are actually nice creature, just don't make things that will anger them. and.... they do smell like humans who hadn't taken a bath since birth.

    That’s just a taste of mythical creatures lol. There’s even one called tiyanak (some sort of monster baby). Regular baby when not attacking anyone, but then turns green and monster-like when jumping on someone to bite their neck. Filos are highly superstitious that’s why they have heaps of mythical creatures.

  • @abbygonny9499

    Do not forget "tiyanak" it is a creature that is small, it pretends to be an innocent baby but if u make it your kid if you turn around they will bite u! They are afraid of sunlight kinda like a vampire, that's all!
    Sorry for terrible english

    I remember this folklore in the Tagalog areas, it was called a tik tik. They say that you will hear the sound they make louder when they are far away than when they are nearby. But i belie they are just some kind of lizard . well i cant say anything about it since im not that informed.

    manananggal are just one class of "aswang".... been hearing from other people that there are are a LOT more of them.... most of them transform from human form to either a very big dog, cat, pig, bird and even things are are hard to describe into words... and we have not even included "engkanto" (environmental spirits) yet.... I heard from sn officemate of mine that one time, she heard extremely big wings flapping like a very big bird was flying around at night... but nothing would be heard in the daytime... she also said that a neighbor of hers was dying because of terminal cancer and stayed at their house and it was near my officemate's house... she kept on hearing multiple flapping wings nightly until the neighbor died.... My officemate is from Davao... she told me this story around last year.

    Well in my experience on my province , i see the tikbalang , kapre , duwende , and sirena (mermaid). In my Grandma say if you walk in the night on the forest if i see the Tikbalang you must equip the talisman or agimat to not attack you. In Kapre is a very wise and good mythology in my grandpa say to me i must steal the white stone from him because you will give a wish or knowledge that you never know. Duwende or Dwarf we always offering to them to their mound because they will give us luck for our business. The Last Part is Sirena my grandma say i must listen to their song until the end but you must not contact their eyes because you got more alluring them but some of mermaid married to human but when they discovered they will dissapear. I must say it's very creepy but i made friend of them because my grandma and grandpa give me the tips to counter to them. Wait i forgot if you want to fight Tikbalang it's better to get him/her golden spike or hair it's okay just 3. Because if you get them they wil serve you until you die. That why my grandpa always wear the golden hair from Tikbalang to safety when he go home in the night. I'm from Philippines and they say even mythical creatures they like a human because they have a heart and can give you mercy except aswang (ghoul) and manananggal and don't mess the Mangkukulam (Witch) it's you mess them you will be regret it.

    There are other mythical creatures in the Philippines, like a tons of them but in Mikey's video the original Mythical creature there were the Manananggal the half body flying creature and the half man stallion but there are more i've forgotten the rest but there were also "tiktik" a black ghoul and "sigben" its a small creature that looked like a puppy with a goats feet that walks backwards and "Tiyanak" its a demonic spirit in a form of a baby like literally a baby that turns into a demon

    Actually some of them have a sightings already, and I'm a Filipino. my father came from an island were some of their far far relatives are called "aswang" (like those 'bat woman') i don't believe it though, but almost all circle of my relatives says it's true that's why a have a doubt about that. anyway those mythical creatures are a part of a Filipino Culture stories.
