I didn't like Dance Hall at Louse Point the first time I heard it, but it grew on me over the years... It eventually became my favorite album for a while. Beautiful, sad & haunting...
It starts at daylight I see him Before my sad eyes I hear him breathing Oh lover, need you to lead me No never thought that you'd leave That was my veil That was my time Once held secret But now lies No words can Heal my heart Inside I'm broken Now it's done Was she a pretty girl ? That was my veil That was my time Once held secret But now lies Give back my veil Give back my time No more secret You give me lies Give me back my veil Give back my life No more secret You give me lies Lies
@peejayfromhell In my opinion the best album she has ever made; beautifully honest and musically invigorating, probably because of the great musical relationship she seems to have with John Parish, who deserves much more credit than he is awarded.
I think I will never get the veil in my life. I suppose I am just one who will never be loved and accepted by a man. I'm glad I've got the love of God/the Lord.
Haven't been able to get my hands on this album somehow, but I purchased their second collaboration - A Woman A Man Walked By from a few years back and it was great! John Parish is a regular member of her studio and touring band too, I believe?
There is quite a lot in common between this and St. Vincent's "Digital Witness", and The Ring(u) (Sadako), Why is there a girl in the TV? Or a boy outside it? Is the TV a veil? Or the visual field a veil? Is the veil the mask in Koan 42 of the Gateless Gate?
PJ HARVEY! JOHN PARISH! ARE YOU DOING THE HUMPTY DANCE? WHAT HAVE I NOT TOLD YOU TIME AND TIME AGAIN!?! SONS OF THE P IS WAY BETTER. The nerve. After all these years? I have bought at least, uh, 3 of your albums, 4, no...5? And I have no idea who John Parish is but...I'm gonna out you. I will FIND ALL 7 AND OUT YOU.

+Kristin Eide No, amelia nolde was correct. During her skinniest periods though (around '96 & '98?), it seems these may have been due to stress/depression which manifested itself in not eating as regularly as she should. Or also due in part to the emotional/physical wear 'n tear of coming off of tours & album promotions. In other words, not a result of some kind of body revulsion or control-seeking behavioral response.
Highly doubtful as shes always been thin. I am the same. No matter how much I eat(though not properly/enough when Im overly stressed), I am lucky and grateful to reach a hundred lbs at 5'2. Never in my life more than 108 and that was eatin gtons, drinking shakes, and going to the gym. I it takes me 3 months to gain 5 lbs.. it takes me 3 days to lose it. I have 3 sisters, a mother who has had 6 babies, and a grandmother who had 7.. and they are all the same. For those saying 'lucky'.. not so much.. theres no difference between seeing bones and seeing rolls. PJ looks great at any weight, but at her 'heaviest' she looks awesome.. Some of us are just naturally small boned/petite/thin.. even when we put a healthy weight on.. we remain this way.. and a healthy weight is not the same for everyone.
Oh god, i love this woman so much!!!
We love you 🙌👍
This song is dark, and conjures up an image in my mind of love lost and innocence broken!
This woman is a genius! I love so much her art music...❤️
PJ Harvey is a Goddess!!!
God, she is beautiful...
PJ and John Parish together will always be a favorite. I want them to make more music together

🤡
Songs of P.J. Harvey is more better that very easy, uninspiring songs of John Parish. Polly, didn't sing that shit!!!
is she anorexic?
She has always been that skinny, so I don't think so. Some people are just naturally skinny hahaha, lucky them!
