- Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga delivered all the ups and downs and the full array of emotions during race week.
From a bike mechanical to a busted bike and triathlon journey with a long road back, Caitlin, Colin and Tiffany each endured their own hardships just to make it to the start and finish lines. What would follow across the 70.5 miles on race day would be a story for the ages and results we'll be talking about for years to come.

Caitlin began her triathlon career in 2012 on a fat tire bike and no swim background. She met Tiffany when she was training for Ironman Texas 2013. Accompanying Tif through most of the training (minus most of the swimming), and serving as a finish line catcher volunteer, catching Tif at the end of her first Ironman, it didn't take long for the triathlon bug to bite. She completed her first full Ironman in 2015 and added another in 2017 - crossing the finish line both times hand-in-hand with the love of her life.
Tiffany's triathlon life started in 2009 with The Rookie Tri at the Texas Ski Ranch. From the time she crossed the finish line, she was hooked. Since then, she has added 3 full Ironmans to her resume' (Texas 2013, 2015, 2017). But it's the 70.3 distance that has been her favorite calling. Since her first Ironman 70.3 in Galveston in 2010, Tiffany has crossed the Half Ironman finish line more than 15 times, including two Ironman 70.3 World Championship appearances - with Caitlin - in South Africa, 2018, and St. George, Utah, 2021.
Team Saunders is documenting the journey of training, life and taking on new challenges along the way. A pair of Age Group triathletes, they hope to motivate and inspire others to find their own challenges.

This race tested all we had. Colin mentioned this day was a final exam and he’s not wrong! How cool we were all in the same bib range…you weren’t too far from Chatty, either!

@@TeamSaundersTri I had a good day! I was hoping for a faster bike time, but I struggled up the hill at mile 26 and couldn't get going on the back half. I still had a 70.3 PR, so I can't complain!
@taylorm.3347 - That back half is definitely more challenging. But big congrats for the PR! Hope you savored it. Anything next up for you?
@@TeamSaundersTri Thank you! I'm not sure yet because of some tentative work travel in the fall, but maybe 70.3 NC or IM Florida... we will see. You guys are going to crush it in New Zealand, that's super exciting!
