I enjoyed hearing your thoughts here. The show was renewed after season one for two more series and season one covers books 1 and 2. Season 2 covers book 3 and a very small amount of book 4 and season 3 is going to cover books 4 and 5. Alice has said she hopes for 4 seasons to tell the story completely.( There is going to be a book 6 and there is a novella, Nick and Charlie, which is after volume 6 in the timeline.)The show is a different beast, as you've already noted, as it goes into the side characters a lot more.
It’s so interesting how you mentioned how the experience was different for you between watching the SA on screen vs reading it. I felt the same but I think heartstopper is the exception with this for me. With simular scences I never noticed the contrast between a book and a tv adaptation. Maybe it is because its a graphic novel compared to just text and my mental image is worse than what is portrait in a few drawings.
yeah that's interesting because since it's a graphic novel I wonder if that's both a pro and con to work with a medium where there are already set images or set expectations visually
