With so many resellers, rip & shippers, and scalpers becoming more and more prominent I really think this is going to be the start of the end of affordable etbs/boxes/collection boxes.
So glad I haven’t bought into the hype of this new set. I’m going to let the hype die out before I even bother looking at products.
I'll buy some Prismatic Evolutions products if I ever luck into finding them in the wild. It's ok to miss out on some sets and it's ok to wait and buy some singles down the road. I'll see if I can get some pre-orders for the upcoming set Battle Partners. There will always be another set on the horizon.

Preordered from Pokemon center and GameStop only, anywhere else was too risky for me.

@ jokes on you, I was able to order full limit of every Pokemon center product they’ve put out so far, and two orders of a case of ETBs totaling 20 ETBs from GameStop. So I successfully preordered everything I could afford to spend on no problem.
@@TheRealBoomslice Id like to hear how many cases of ETBs you got? Me securing 2 cases from GameStop is good enough for me, I only planned to spend $800-$1000 on this set and I’ve done that through GameStop.
@@pokebarn1 I've barely bought any of this set, but yes I got a couple cases of ETBs as well. I'm making side plays while everyone fights over 2x msrp Etbs. My point to you is walmart and target are also good sources of product, but there are about 100 different Shopify shops from youtubers and other trusted sources you are missing out on willfully because you only want to buy from the 2 most mainstream places. I've got multiple boxes of tersastal festival below hte current market price from places like Korosseo, forge and fire, sakuras card shop, etc. Ignoring all of your possibilities is not a great way to navigate this hobby, thats my point.

Nah I don't think the price is going to drop at all even for a day. With everyone's preorders getting canceled I believe the price will surge to $175 to $200 per ETB within 1 week after release.

Walking through major retail aisles and seeing even Shrouded Fable getting cleaned out tells you what type of climate we are in.
Shrouded Fable is underrated right now if you want to open. Lots of cards are super playable and valuable
Pokémon already brought another printing company. I believe they have 3 now and looking to buy more. They know the situation they will fix it.
The streaming aspect is really changing the game. Not only does it change supply, it also drives up what people are willing to pay for a single pack. I can honestly see people being willing paying $20 for a pack of PE on stream which means that streamers will definitely be willing to pay $12-15 per pack or $120-150 for an ETB for the foreseeable future.

I wish more people could get over the FOMO driving this market and stop buying for above msrp. Its not our responsibility as hobbyists and collectors to support local if we are getting screwed by them. I haven't been to my local card shop since celebrations when they were selling the etbs for $100 on release day. Let it be for people who actually want the cards, not the people who want to take advantage of us.
Greed and selfishness are so interesting to me how much it changes people. So many people with 0 morals, integrity, standards etc. They ruin everything for everyone. Such a shame.
If a local price shop prices itself out, it is not your problem or responsibility. Hobby stores should be supported of course, but if greed takes over, they are not gonna last long, on average, anyway. Take your business elsewhere, there is nothing wrong with that. You are the consumer.
One of the shops I like to buy from had 1 case of etbs for $800 and after a day took them down and reposted for $1200 a case. Absolutely wild!

Fun fact: if you ordered etbs or etb cases after 9 November from our game store in Australia. Equivalent to America GameStop. You just got pushed back until may/Jun on 2nd shipment. I was one of them.

Sealed PC ETB cases are gonna be insane within a year - glad I got one and a display ETB for the collection

buy japanese umbreon sar and sylveon sar while they are cheap right now. My guess is, resellers are gonna hold ETB so bad that SIRs are gonna sky rocket esp moonbreon and sylveon. Terastal gonna follow since the demand is going to be high af.
I manged to pre-order 6 but when they restock on PC it will be limited to 2 per customer/order.

Prismatic is supposed to have a window like Crown Zenith right where it trickles out products over a few months? Do you think it will play out the same way as Crown Zenith is where eventually there's going to be a lot out there for a while?
I don't think that will be the case. The demand is so high, everything a product releases, it will all get swallowed up quickly.
I was able to get 10 prismatic ETB's on pre order I'm hoping nothing gets cancelled but until I get the confirmation its shipped I'll be nervously waiting
Oh well. Keep paying those fomo prices. This will be reprinted just like 151 so just wait for the typical $$. Dont see Pokemon allowing this manipulation without dumping lots of product in the next year.
Patience’s is needed. Eventually, PCI will catch up on their printing to demand, and then price will start to fall back to reasonable values. Just recall the toilet paper situation during the ramping up of the pandemic; people were hoarding, pushing and shovelling, empty shelves, prices skyrocketed, when production caught up with demand, price stabilized, the reversal happened, supply fell below demand, and prices fell back to reasonable values. Pokémon will follow suit, just like what Alex described.
Pokemon won't catch up , too many hyped sets coming up when they have a chance to breathe 5 sets down the line it wouldn't make sense to reprint

Your logic on the $3 vs the $15 pack is skewed because while it makes more sense to open the $15 because your potential hit is higher. A lot of people can’t afford to spend $150 on ten packs while almost everybody can afford 10 packs for $30. So at some price point it won’t make sense for a lot of people. That’s why $15 a pack isn’t sustainable.
It happens all the time in economic markets where a small fish gets this idea that it's a whale. There's an infamous history lesson about Jay Gould and his quest to corner the gold market. These speculative guppies should read it!
In France french ETBs are selling for 160$ easily on whatnot, we have a crazy boom here, bigger than in the US !
As one of the only people NOT sh*tng on shrouded fable, you're still cool by me. Something many forget is SF was DELAYED on ETBs and set basically dropped 2 weeks before the release of Stellar Crown, aka 1 week before LGS got pre release kits. It's not that the set is bad from a value perspective. People just didn't have any time to enjoy it before hype train for other sets.

Yes, you’re right! I’m from Costa Rica and I was able to buy every set for Prismatic including two ETBs at MSRP and actually hobby shops here still have stock for the majority of this set. Smart move if you ask me haha

getting tired of those dorks making videos blaming sealed collecters on limited product available. last year obsidian flames was sitting on shelves for the longest time. but now shelves empty and they cry about it
edit: i live in qld australia and we don't get much product here compared to u.s. between brisbane and the gold coast, you would be lucky to see a box of obsidian flames, base set and paldea evolved in retailers and lgs. literally sitting all last year. the point here can be used for any set

If your theory is correct, and I think it is re: too many stores ordering pokemon from their distributors, spreading the product thin over a larger area, then there's going to be a lot of smaller stores that find out the hard way that they got caught-up in the hype. God speed! I'll be buying this set later in the year when it's available like Crown Zenith was.

Glad you made this video. It was tiring hearing the “short supply” bs. It’s simply every store wants it. So maybe a big store that gets 4000 ETBs is getting 2000 ETBs now because 100% of ppl want it. That 2000 ETBs extra that they normally get is being split and distributed amongst 100+ small stores. 💯 facts in this video.
PC ETB’s for this set could be a generational investment play. With how much this set will be ripped, even if packs are printed to the ground over the next 2 years, I think the stamped promo and lack of availability of PC ETBs could get nutty.

There's a lot of incentive for pokemon to release more waves of the PC ETB as well though.

Alex, I was lucky enough to secure a case of prismatic PC ETBS, & 2 loose ones, I'm definitely keeping the case sealed, but if they limit the quantity to 2 again on release date is that case a mega hold for 5-10+ years in your opinion?

I think they will reprint this PC ETB. So on release, I think it is worth opening. for this item, I don't think a sealed case worths more than 4 loose etbs

look I am all in favor of people investing with pokemon if they want to (I even have some long term plays with some graded cards that are in my PC). However, I do get annoyed when it gets this bad. It feels like scalpers are getting into the hobby and dont actually care for the product at all.

Not nearly as much demand for almost its entire existence (until the last 2ish months).
Keep in mind there may be several million new pokemon card fans coming into the hobby because of the Pokemon Pocket App. Waiting may not be the play here. It will take Pokemon a couple years to open new factories to vastly increase printing numbers.
130 an etb is wild. People will get there chance. If people think they will never ever catch a restock at there local walmart or target, not even one time, in the next two years, there crazy. I just got 8 151 booster bundles 10 days ago and its a year and a half old. You will be able to find it, eventually
I don't think I've ever seen 151 in stock at retail, it sounds like you did the 'arm swoop' if you got 8 booster bundles which is why I've never seen it in the wild.
Rudy says the swoop 1 time and now its all i hear😅. They just put out 20 bundles, 12 zapdos and 1e alakazam. I didnt even put a dent in the stock. Not to mention a bunch of v striker tins with evolving and surging sparks bundles. Lots of good stuff out there still.

I’m going to disagree. This set is no different than any other specialty set. The first release is hard to find then it’s on the shelves everywhere for the next year. The staggered release is why it is different from a main set. Not to mention all the big stores are being given more then usual so collectors can get product at msrp instead of stores ripping them off. 😊

we hear that stock is low for every single set that drops, its such a broken record. stock is not low! but buyers are spending more money for more stock so small time collectors cant find the amount they need , because instead of buying 10 cases they are buying 30-50 and selling like hotcakes on steam for more money.. its literally freee money for them . if you think for 1 second that he is actually going to buy stock for market price.. congrats ur trapped in this fomo manipulated market. he is going to offer 70-80 market at best to any seller than wants to sell to him because you will hear " i have a distro i dont mind waiting for restock" or "ive purchased more for less" and in fear of fomo u will sell for cheap while he and other poke investors make bank on stream. just open ur eyes for once... no disrespect at all but thats just how i see it.

You are right and have really great points.
There will be plenty of this set printed just like CZ. Combine that with the absolute train wreck that the modern attention span is for the average person and you realize there isn't much to worry about. Like you said, I give it maybe another year and the Pokemon hype will fade almost overnight. Something more "profitable" than rip n' ship will come along soon enough.
I thought in September that ETBs were going to increase. But no more than 75 dollars XD. If it's only on this series, I accept. If it's also on the others, I'll give up on pokemon. As you say, if the quantities are the same, but more distributed, I will not pay X2
because I will be the pigeon, and we would have to ask ourselves the question of the internet, which is destroying too many physical stores
