about a year ago, when i was 19 i was going through some stuff. I was in the Young Men's presidency serving as secretary. The YM president told me to share this video with the boys I teach. I watched the video before I forwarded it to them. I broke into tears I felt the spirit so strong. I am now sending my missionary papers into Church Heaquarters to get my mission call. This video changed my life. Thank you, Elder Holland.
Thanku pres.. Holland.. One of my favorite speakers .. U always lift my soul up.. In every circumtances I have... Thanku for the warning and councels.. Although this is the youth but still if u say unto one u says unto all... Thanku...
I really needed this. I used to struggle with a pornography addiction, and with my baptism coming up this weekend, Satan is working harder than ever to make sure I don't reach that point with purity and with faith. Watching the ending of the man being baptized reminded me of my goals and my standards. I must stay within the lines of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is only through repentance and faith that I can do that. Thank you, Elder Holland. :)
This is my favorite Mormon Message that has inspired me to always stay clean no matter what. When we repent, we have to surrender all of our sins to the Lord. Those who don't will be held back. I know this to be true. Watch your words work wonders in the lives of those who are only kept from the truth for they know not where to find it. We need a lot more missionaries opening that gate, and helping people through it. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
"Unbind your tongue and watch your words work wonders in the lives of those who are only kept from the truth..." Being an instrument in the hands of the Lord. What an amazing thing to say. The spirit definitely has touched my heart.
This makes me cry so so hard. I've been battling pornograpy for a while now and I wanna serve a mission and I realize that I need to fight harder... and stop dribbling out of bounds.
Hey! It's been seven years and I want you to know that wether or not you made it before aging out, or if it's still something you struggle with, I'm proud of you and I believe in you completely
This is a true message. It is also a very good reminder that keeping within the commandments is MUCH easier than the other alternative. .. that said. God forgives. There is no transgression, rebellion, or act that God hasn't covered through our Christ. ... I too have an addiction to pornography from a very, very young age.. even before I knew what it was I got hooked. ... I'm serving a family history mission at present. Come back, dust yourself off, allow our Lord to find you. He can and will heal you. .. D&C 52:48 Then never give up on Him. Ever. I promise you He will NEVER give up on you. And HE has overcome all for US.
I’m really sorry you’re struggling with such shame I hope you know watching porn doesn’t mean anything about you as a person and it’s normal to be curious about that kind of stuff I hope you know you are lovable and this doesn’t change who you are and your value as a person
Just remember that if you ever find yourself struggling with the addiction again, you have the Lord and your ward Bishop to help you. Never lose hope and never give up. Cling to the iron rod!
I LOVE the part when he was repenting & the bishop was speaking & the picture of Christ was sitting right there. Gets me every time. I LOVE THIS GOSPEL!!!
im 17 and preparing to serve a mission, each time i watch this video i can not help but to cry. this is such an uplifting and motivational video. i feel nothing but the spirit.
This video inspires me so much. I have struggled before i went on a mission but with help of my bishop, some friends and the Savior, my sins were washed away. The two years I served were not only the best years of my life, they completly changed me and there is not a day I do not think of the many blessings today that I received from repenting and going on a mission. So I know how hard it is, but I also know for sure how much it is worth to change.
OK... im not a guy but in my Sunday school class we had watched this video and its so inspiring. this is coming from a young women. Who moved schools right in the middle of 10 grade. Having close friends made it harder to move or change. When you sin more then once of the same thing it becomes habit. I started ditching classes and getting in the wrong crowed and it became my life steal and its hard to Chang, but i can say its a life changer just moving to a new enverment and staring new. IF I CAN DO IT I KNOW YOU GUYS CAN
+Danae Valle He's in another video too? The one where he tries to help an inactive boy? Your nephew is very good at this! His spirit comes through clearly! God bless you (and him).
Wow.. Your nephew is just awesome! I always love seeing him on videos because it's like.. I don't know like I could relate to him.. And as a non member like, this is really important! I'd love to thank him one day for his amazing job on the videos!
Wow! The Lord truly does work in mysteries ways. Elder Holland-- you are definitely a true disciple of God. I've been struggling with a lot of things lately and I really felt that the Lord gave up on me.. No answers, no signs, NOTHING! But this video answered ALL my questions I had for Him. I am truly grateful for this gospel and for the power of repentance. I am with no doubt READY too speak with my bishop. Truly grateful beyond measures. Thank you so much, Elder Holland.
I just feel in my heart to say, after watching this video, that the church is so true...! THERE IS a living and true church on the earth and many are looking for the truth but know NOT where to find it.How wonderful, and celestial it is, to serve a worthy mission. I give solemn witness of that.
I love how Elder Holland and this video get to the specifics in being prepared to serve a mission. Every young man in the church needs to internalize this message and every young woman should take these principles to prepare for the temple. Living with restraint fosters happiness. What a powerful message!
If any of you guys feel like you need to talk to your bishop, then do! He is there to help you. I talked to him when I struggled and he helped me back on the right path. He isn’t there to punish you, he is there to help you. He will give you love and support. So, again, if the spirit prompts you to talk to him, then do. The day you do, the day your joy will not be able to contain itself.
I put my papers in for my mission in April and this video really hit the spot for me. I’ll get many thoughts in my mind like: “I could do this and nobody would ever know.” But something deep inside my pulls me to stay on the straight and narrow.
I really needed to hear that. Thank you Elder Holland for your inspiring, empowering words. I've been praying for courage to talk to my Bishop and you just gave me it. Thanks for being an answer to my prayers :)
I recently just returned from serving a mission, and this was a question I got a lot. Having been back, I have felt my mission to have been a bootcamp for my life, it prepares you more than ever to follow your leader. A mission, with it's extremely high standards, makes it so much more difficult to stray away from the commandments once you return. Those extra rules, have given me greater confidence in saying Jesus Christ is my example, and that I Will follow Him.
This video is a great example of how one moment's decision can effect your life for good or bad! I like how in moments of weakness he depended on his friends and mom to help see him through. 1 Cor. 10:13 13 "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."
Wow! This is a powerful video that everyone needs to see! Not just future missionaries, but everyone. We're all in this together, and we all need to be worthy to help each other overcome our challenges. Wickedness never was, is, or will be happiness. Happiness is obedience.
They are called of God to teach the world His gospel. But in order to do so they must set aside all distractions of the world. When we sacrifice worldly things God is able to more abundantly bless us.
This video really means a lot to me. I really needed to hear that. I've been struggling with some issues and praying for courage to overcome those issues, and well, Elder Holland, you just gave me it. Thank you for being bold enough to say what needed to be said and thank you for being an answer to my prayers :)
I stayed clear from all friends who were not a good influence for one year befofe I left 16 years ago. I remember entering a sisters house in northern Kenya and she asked some really tricky question, now I don't know how much I answer it exaclty how she needed to hear it and after I unswered it, I didnt know how I did, in leaving that appointment I marveled at how the spirit works in a worthy priesthood holder.
i was once a missionary in the Philippines Manila Mission, well my friend i have that same question before and its just hard to answer. The life of a missionary truly is a lot different than that of a regular member, missionaries have more strict rules because of the nature of their calling, they are not like everybody else. Imagine what it would be like if they act like everybody else?
I'm grateful to listen to the voice of wise men. Their concepts will always lead us to success and happiness. I haven't heard of anyone who has followed the advice of one of these men and went lost.
I absolutly LOVE Elder Hollands talks. They are SO powerful and he tells you how it is and doesn't beat around the bush. There was one time I was like,"I'm going to go to the bathroom" and he was staring right at the TV, and I was like,"Never mind..I'll just..sit..back down.." :) Great great speaker. :) Thank you for the video as well. :)
this is really inspiring and I think it teaches us to share this gospel others and bring others to the church so that they can have everlasting life. This is a message to all members not just missionaries.
This message has changed my life. I made some bad choices at one point of my life. I know the savior has divine love for everyone. His love has helped me draw closer to him. I am so grateful for this church.
What a great video! I love the change from darkness to light I felt as this young man actively made choices to overcome temptation. I am going to use this for a FHE lesson.
I am thankful for this message...it will help me learn to try and keep away temptation and will help me to forget about anything bad I have done in the past. The spirit has touched me
When Jeffrey R. Holland gave the talk "We are all Enlisted" it really was a turning point in my life, the boldness by which he speaks really gets to me and gets me going. I am now called to serve a full time mission in Jakarta Indonesia and i leave in a month, Thank you brother Holland!
Because Missionaries are dedicating part of there life's to the service to bring others to Christ, and they have rules set for them so that the adversary doesn't attack them so hard as those that are living life day by day.
I am not a spokesperson for the church, but I am a preparing missionary, and I'd answer that question by saying it is because missionarys are official representatives of Jesus Christ and His Church, and as such they are required to maintain the highest standards of living and appearance. The rules help to keep missionarys in tune with the Spirit, something absolutely necessary so they may be better guided to those ready to hear the words of the Lord. They also help keep the missionarys focused.
I heard that message in my first week in the mission field, on october 2011, that message marked the course of my whole mission, thank you for posting this message
Missionaries are set apart for two years to teach and convert, doing this pretty much every day (besides P days). In order to do this every day, missionaries have rules to make sure their work is their #1 priority. They don't date, have a paying job, go to school, etc. Their focus is their mission. As with regular church members, they do need to have a job, go to school, get married, etc. The church is still a huge priority, but not as focused as if church members were on a mission.
"We need young men, already on the team, to stay on it, and stop dribbling out of bounds. Just when you need to get in the game and play your hearts out." -Jeffrey R. Holland This is a call for worthy Priesthood holders to get and stay active. To put their best foot forward, and to prepare to serve an honorable full time mission. Honor your priesthood, and hold God's power the way that Christ held it. "Satan is a real being set on destroying you." Do not give into the adversary's lies.
I have been struggling with sin and hate myself for it terrible. So know I need to fight harder and keep reading scriptures and saying prayers and stay within the lines ❤
I don't know if you've found the answer to your question yet but this is from the talk We Are All Enlisted from the October 2011 Priesthood session. I have a 13 year old son and this talk might be my all time favorite!
missionaries are set apart with a calling and ordained to be a special witness of Jesus Christ. They are given a mantle of authority and therefore and obligation and a duty to be more pure, and more worthy because they directly represent Jesus Christ. To keep that power and authority, more commandments have to followed more strictly to ensure the spirit remains with them.
Its true that for missionaries there bold strict line. Its because they're called to be representatives of Jesus Christ and seek to invite others to come to Him. Missionaries need to let go of distractions that might hold them back. And though all members are encouraged to do their part in representing the Lord, the role of a full time missionary is different from members because they are set apart for 24 to 18 months. We need His help to serve Him, no matter who we are. And He will help us.
Elder Holland is a fantastic speaker. Like him I have seen the world change the last of those who grew up being able to go have fun without being chained to a phone we were responsible for our own actions every moment of the day and what temptation there was on us truthfully was minimal compared to today. Today it is so easy to be led astray through the power of computers and peer pressure. The internet addictions can control the mind even if it's just check to see if you have any new messages. Studies have shown that the internet p*** and now even the internet itself is sadly as addictive as heroin and changes how your brain works. Heroin is one of the hardest addictions to break other than nicotine. So many people I've met have said the sad and forlorn words: if only I hadn't started on this road my life would be so different. If I'd followed the path placed before me but I thought I could control it that I'd go on my mission and everything would be okay, or I wasn't really cheating after all it was just pictures on the web, or I was so lonely I didn't think it would hurt to have friends in chat rooms but I easily was led astray. One person said Well we'd still make the same decisions if we were given the same opportunities because we would still be the same person. I don't believe that. I believe if we were truly listening to the gospel & the Lord's anointed, focusing our life on the Lord and what he wants from us we wouldn't make those incorrect decisions.. I believe we make a conscious decision to choose good or evil. We know what right or wrong is. We know which one will sustain us and give us a positive feeling about ourselves & which one will lower us into the depths of despair within our own mind and even drive us to destroy other people's lives so we can feel better about ourselves. Take it from an old person who has lived an extremely different life than the one she possibly could've had if I had only simply said no to a few of the Temptations that came along. Held firm to my decision about marrying only in the temple and marrying for the righteous reason not because I thought I was getting old and needed to find a companion but because this was a righteous person to be sealed to. One who cared about me cherished me having their life together in such a manner they're an example & the last several years of their life proved they were worthy of my love. I'm sure that the covid-19 pandemic has awakened the reflection within all of us some maybe not many feel that they are immune to it because of their age or their good health maybe even their race but you don't know really what's inside you and what could be a weakness could be a strength. I think it will be better to be prepared for the future walking within the lines of tomorrow instead of worrying about the pettiness of today the Lord will take care of the sparrow so he will take care of you but it's your responsibility to build your eternity.
Having served a mission, I would say it's for a lot of reasons. For one, missionaries are typically teenagers and still lack some maturity and definitely lack the wisdom that time and experiences bring. Therefore, they need guides to help them deal with situations they have never dealt with before and to help them focus on their purpose. Their purpose is to bring others unto Christ, full-time. Regular members don't focus on that full time. They have to balance their lives with many things.

What would this world be like without Elder Holland. I hope he lives forever.
My seminary teacher showed us this in class and I had to watch it again I felt the spirit so strong. :)

He is such an awesome speaker. He always says things the way they actually are and without making anybody mad or uncomfortable.
Abby Rodarte actually, people should be “uncomfortable” when listening to counsel. All are in need of repentance.

I feel this is a VERY important video. I want to share this to EVERYBODY in this world.
Elder Holland always gives the best talks. :-)
My nephew Kalob is returning now from a mission in Peru... He's the star in this video.... Great message!
Awesome
+Danae Valle
He's in another video too? The one where he tries to help an inactive boy? Your nephew is very good at this! His spirit comes through clearly! God bless you (and him).
His name was Guillermo in the other video I loved that video as well of this one too.
Wow.. Your nephew is just awesome! I always love seeing him on videos because it's like.. I don't know like I could relate to him.. And as a non member like, this is really important! I'd love to thank him one day for his amazing job on the videos!
One of my favourite District Leaders went on his mission because of this talk. We ARE all enlisted!

I love how Elder Holland and this video get to the specifics in being prepared to serve a mission. I put my papers in for my mission in April and this video really hit the spot for me.
I’ll get many thoughts in my mind like: “I could do this and nobody would ever know.” But something deep inside my pulls me to stay on the straight and narrow.

One of the most powerful Mormon Message videos I've seen.
Love that little kid's face when he is next to mom.
Wow! This is a powerful video that everyone needs to see! Not just future missionaries, but everyone. We're all in this together, and we all need to be worthy to help each other overcome our challenges. Wickedness never was, is, or will be happiness. Happiness is obedience.
We cannot radiate and be bold in the truth when we feel guilt and are guilty of something... Powerful message!
This is an amazing video. I love the boldness of it. We must be a voice for God. One of the best Mormon Messages i have ever seen.
They are called of God to teach the world His gospel. But in order to do so they must set aside all distractions of the world. When we sacrifice worldly things God is able to more abundantly bless us.

This video has changed my whole life in a good way. Thank you for this inspiring message!

This video frames the heart of the matter beautifully. Our salvation and that of others truly does depend on our ability to live Gospel principles.
Hallelujah powerful every family in this world needs to watch this Hallelujah powerful Amen
Wow, this is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Thank you for reminding me of this talk. It is exactly what I need to hear. Wow. This is powerful!
This video cheers me up everytime i watch it. If you see this comment Brother Holland, you are a great speaker and bring me such a good spirit.
this is really inspiring and I think it teaches us to share this gospel others and bring others to the church so that they can have everlasting life. This is a message to all members not just missionaries.
elder holland's message is really motivating and instructive. thanks a lot.
thank you for this wonderful message I know God and leaders of our church love us
Truth...it reverberates in our hearts. This message teaches so much we all ought to apply in our every day lives...
This message has changed my life. I made some bad choices at one point of my life. I know the savior has divine love for everyone. His love has helped me draw closer to him. I am so grateful for this church.
LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!!!!! LOVE JEFF HOLLAND : ) The Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints is TRUE!!!
What a great video! I love the change from darkness to light I felt as this young man actively made choices to overcome temptation. I am going to use this for a FHE lesson.
This is a great talk. Keeps me on the right path
I am thankful for this message...it will help me learn to try and keep away temptation and will help me to forget about anything bad I have done in the past. The spirit has touched me
I watch this whoever I am tempted
I love this Mormon message
Gosh dang I love Jeffery R. Holland!
I like the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints
It's from "We Are All Enlisted" - given during priesthood session in Oct 2011
When Jeffrey R. Holland gave the talk "We are all Enlisted" it really was a turning point in my life, the boldness by which he speaks really gets to me and gets me going. I am now called to serve a full time mission in Jakarta Indonesia and i leave in a month, Thank you brother Holland!
because missionaries are much more seen of the world, so we want to set a good example for them
Because Missionaries are dedicating part of there life's to the service to bring others to Christ, and they have rules set for them so that the adversary doesn't attack them so hard as those that are living life day by day.
This is so true and important.
One of the fav Mormon message.. thank you this really helps me..

This is by far my favorite video
This is probably my favorite video ever
I heard that message in my first week in the mission field, on october 2011, that message marked the course of my whole mission, thank you for posting this message
This video is SO very well made! 💖

Thank for watching!
@@strivetobe It's my privilege! 💖
I was preparing for my mission and this short movie really an eye opening.
I have always been happier staying in the lines then crossing them
I don´t know how many times I´ve seen this video, I love it. ;)
So powerful!!

This is a call for worthy Priesthood holders to get and stay active. To put their best foot forward, and to prepare to serve an honorable full time mission. Honor your priesthood, and hold God's power the way that Christ held it. "Satan is a real being set on destroying you." Do not give into the adversary's lies.

Wow this is such a powerful message.
I don't know if you've found the answer to your question yet but this is from the talk We Are All Enlisted from the October 2011 Priesthood session. I have a 13 year old son and this talk might be my all time favorite!
Love this video and love being LDS
missionaries are set apart with a calling and ordained to be a special witness of Jesus Christ. They are given a mantle of authority and therefore and obligation and a duty to be more pure, and more worthy because they directly represent Jesus Christ. To keep that power and authority, more commandments have to followed more strictly to ensure the spirit remains with them.
"we are all enlisted" - Jeffery R. Holland, October 2011 General Conference
I do not believe in Mormon, but these videos do give out important messages and i enjoy watching them
Its true that for missionaries there bold strict line.
Powerful! 💖
