These are the "Fashion Shows" of the restaurant world. They do the innovation first, so that the trickle down surfaces in other venues for years to come. There are so many commonplace techniques and ingredients now that own their existence to Ferran and his accolites!

Not at 250€ per person. It's very affordable actually, and comparable to restaurants in Paris. It's just not for every day food. Definitely, as someone has already said, the fashion show equivalent. Fashion shows don't make money. That said, I'm not sure how viable those restaurants are which open for only half the year!
@@KiteFam At old El Bulli prices yes - no idea what they'd tranlate to into modern money. I think it was about £800 when it was still open - if you could get a seat (unlikely). I dreamed of getting a chance to go and try it; thrn it closed. I'd gladly have paid that for the experience. Currently probably never paid over £450 for two tbh
@@mandiola2010 If you've never had a multiple course tasting menu; you wouldn't understand. You don't need an extra large pizza or a huge portion of meat all the time. I've done a few, not lots. Where I used to think I would need two burgers after It, I was totally wrong. Good food and great flavours can fill you as much as a ton of dough...
If you think that amount of hard work is a gimmick being #1 in the world for many years. Stick to your chicken fingers and French fries. Restaurants like these aren’t even the equivalent to a night out at an expensive steakhouse. They are an experience. A culinary journey. Heads in the wrong place. If you don’t want that journey. Don’t go. You don’t love food enough

A very apt analogy (haute couture and haute cuisine). Also, fashion shows don't make any money either!
Agreed.
I remember Anthony Bourdain doing a show there. Wish it didn't close down 😢

Wonderful but I’ll never be able to afford to eat in any of such places. Truly for the 1%.
Agreed with, it is closed now ;)

This is crazy!😂
I don't get these kinds of restaurants.
Ferran is a legend. You couldn't afford those type of restaurants ;)

You are not the only one. Bet many of the customers after leaving the place, go desesperately to the nearest food store to get a sandwich or a pizza.
