Oddly enough, the fact that many older players hate Steph is in itself an expression of respect. It shows that they realize that Steph has materially changed the modern game of basketball and has been high successful. If Steph had all this shooting ability, but never won a championship, he would NOT be hated. Laughed at, pitied, marveled at. But not hated.
Matt Barnes is waaaaay better at this stuff than almost any of these other talking heads. Give him a regular spot!

The main thing is probably because Steph lowkey came out of nowhere. Dude had his first all star appearance in 2014 then by 2018 he got 2 MVPs and 3 rings. That and the fact that he changed the nba, which very very few players can say. Not even some all time greats get credit like that.

But, the story has *Never* has the story been pushed as: “Steph missed 2, wide open, potentially game winning shots when his team really needed him, and couldn’t carry his 73 win team the previous closeout games”
That biased narrative, pushed by the NBA and its broadcasting partners, is what gets to other players who are treated differently. Shouldn’t those finals be remembered as a Steph choke job?
It’s the exact same reason Pippen wanted out of Chicago after the ‘91 championship. He was undoubtedly the 2nd best player on the court during their entire run. This cast is really great and talk very accurate and factually about their topics. Regarding players that don’t like steph. It’s similar to Jeremy Lins story. You’re considered an outsider in the game where many players come from an impoverished background. Many superstars are not like that and therefore will try to spread hate onto you. It’s terrible because it’s the thing they are actually supposedly fighting for in our society today.

I wouldn't say that Steph sacrifices touches. By being a distributer, he gets more and better looks at the basket because it forces the defense to pay attention to the other guys as well. That's when Steph hits your with a 40 foot bomb.
Without Steph guys like Klay would have remained merely good role players. Instead a guy like Klay is getting a Max deal

Zachary White You’re crazy if you think Klay wouldn’t of excelled in the league. He can shoot is athletic and actually plays D. His shooting helps Curry as much as the other way around.
