The Real Sociedad midfielder would be an excellent addition to Arsenal’s midfield. Much like Granit Xhaka did in the later years of his Arsenal career, Merino could make a significant impact at both ends of the field.
He’s a skilled passer, competes vigorously in tackles, puts in a lot of work off the ball, and has a knack for scoring goals. Analyst Ben Mattinson has even called him an “aerial duel monster” due to his prowess in the air.
Additionally, like Xhaka, Merino is left-footed, making him a perfect fit for the left-eight role where Xhaka excelled in his final season at the Emirates Stadium.
