If an expat is a bona fide resident working for a foreign entity but the spouse who is also foreign pays the housing expenses, can the expat still claim FHE if filing separately?

I would imagine "internet" will be classified as a utility sooner than later, right?

I am struggling with Section 6 of the 2555 Form even after watching you youtube videos which are really well done. I feel like I could put allot in that section. Does your office take teleconference calls from Quebec, Canada?

    Thank you. Question.
    1) If someone gets hired with an American company and gets hired in the US with a W-2, If they move and live in another country and live there consistently more than a year due to the fact that the job is an online job (remote work), can they qualify for foreign tax exclusion even though the company is in the US and they got hired in the US? 2) If we can generally apply for foreign tax exclusions after receiving your income through a W-2 system, what happens next if you get approved? Will they send you money back through a check? or this Foreign tax exclusion can only be done through a 1099?

I am a US citizen working for an american company in mexico. All of my wages are paid in the US (w2). I have lived in mexico for most of the year. I don't earn any income in mexico, all of my income is from the US company. Do I qualify for the housing exclusion? also I pay for my kids school in mexico, is there any deductions for these expenses?

Your employer deducts US taxes from your wages. You are not earning foreign income. So you are not eligible for foreign earned income exclusion as well as for housing exclusion.

Jesus, this video was so confusing. So basically if I paid rent in a foreign country from my own wages/salary then I can qualify for housing exclusion/deduction? But if the employer paid for my housing then I can't apply or qualify for the housing exclusion/deduction?
