Not only that but also writing this song & composing it including the opening bass riff, and conducting the technological aspect of the entire live show through her computer on the side that you see in the drum cam & her MIDI pedals on the floor (that we don't see).
Paulina Villarreal aka Pau is a multi=talented multi-tasking musical genius.
Her profound poetry is worth so many laurels on it own.
This song is about the hold that social media has on today's society as we, the disciples, stare at our screens.
Its starts with "The Sun is your enemy today" & ends in "You shall remain inside your space of ignorance".
The Warning stands out from the rest through their deep songwriting & messages within.

@Jamie Paulina not only plays and sings she controls the whole show through Ableton Live 10. Basically everything is programed to a Midi click track, the computer sends a Midi note to the back screen. She used to use a trigger pad but she now uses a trigger petal it's easier. That's it in the most basic explanation.

Starts the build up at 1:46 and finishes it off with an explosive fill at 1:56 while singing lead vocals. I would have got stuck at "Ge" of "Gestapo in the making" that she sings through the climax of that fill of 150 bpm minimum.
      What a talent!!!
      What a multi-tasking brain!!!
I haven't seen anyone like this.
I don't claim to have watched every singer drummer though.

The balance between the instruments and vocals is excellent. I love hearing Ale's bass strong and clear, so full that Dany can just stop playing and the song is still steaming ahead. I love Pau's powerful foot and her ridiculous drum fill. Dany's a magician floating around making beautiful melodies and driving the audience crazy. And all the vocals!

@@MichaelJohnson-sg9by Yep. They do, occasionally, use pre-recorded backing tracks (performed by themselves, so it still is "just them") but not on this tune I believe. The drummer (Pau) controls any of the effects needed and/or graphics via software and foot pedals.

    I am over-Pau-ed.
    That's it.
We need to talk more about this 5 feet nothing musical genius.
Her songwriting, her conceiving a song including intro bass line, her harmonizing, her lead vocals, her tech-savvy multi-tasking in live performances, her drumfills & those incredible buildups on the drums, & her explosive energy that radiates through ether into our screens.
Yes, her sisters are exceptional musicians & singers with unbridled energy.
But Paulina Villarreal is gradually becoming that giant supernova about to explode into international stardom.
Forget everything else; just her profound poetry alone is worth so many laurels.

I can't believe how well Paulina can drum and sing at the same time. It's insane! That is no easy feat. She's like the next Phil Collins in terms of talent, skill, performance, and lyrical dynamics. What an incredible person.

    • @MrSudeepdas
      @MrSudeepdas ปีที่แล้ว +3

Yeah, never thought I'll ever see a drummer-singer-composer like Henley, Taylor, Collins. Even Grohl who used to sing & drum for Nirvana gave up drumming when forming Foo Fighters saying it was too difficult doing both.
Now Pau has taken that to another level.
1st through her profound dark metaphors which are 2nd only to Dylan, Cohen & Waters. She could have won literary awards just with her intellectual poetry.
2nd through her tech. savvy brain. Using 2 MIDI pedals to control live shows through the Ableton App in her laptop she is literally the soul of their concerts. One false step on the pedal and the whole song collapses - the click, onscreen video, if any, & the backing track go off. Previously she used to change presets on Dany & Ale's pedalboards also!!! Now Ableton does that.
      Genius!!!
She has 5 pedals on the floor - kick drum, hi-hat, double kick, left MIDI to start & right MIDI to stop. Phew!!!

I knew I liked what I was hearing but Little did I know of Pau's unique and beautiful voice or
Danys magical way of drawing in a crowd or Ale's masterfully brilliant bass lines.
I didn't even know that queen of the murder scene was a concept album.
I've pretty much listened and watched every single they have now and there is not one bad song , how is that possible? There are probably only a handful of albums I can listen to and like every song let alone like every song on every album a band has made. Queen of the murder scene has to one of the most brilliant albums ever created and to think it was made by a couple teenage girls that just like playing the game rock band and decided to just pick up some instruments and start making music is pretty crazy.

Hahaha...yes, well usually, but could be any player.
But here it's a different thing, "shredder" is meant in a very litteral sense as she has broken many many sticks during concerts and even cymbals and drumskins!!!
And every single time she manages to not miss a beat: we've seen her playing with only one hand, then switching to the other hand while she reaches for another stick; or even playing with one bare hand for a moment; etc...all sorts of things. Once she broke part of the bass drum skin and she had to play (almost) the whole setlist with the left foot only.
Fortunately she tends to break much less things lately...lol.

As far as lyrics are concerned their intellectualism is at par with the best in history across genders. That is why every song by this band needs to be listened to with lyrics & back story, if any.
This song is the drummer's metaphorical take on the effect of social media on our lives. The lead singer, Dany, is the antagonist and starts with "the sun is YOUR enemy today" while her younger sister, Pau on the drums, sings the 2nd verse as a disciple "the sun is MY enemy today". And then they trade lead vocals as per the script. Youngest sister, Ale the bassist, joins the chorus & background vocals in lower scales.
Fun fact: In 2019, a 17 year old Pau got the idea about this song's chorus while shopping in a Canadian supermarket. She came home and composed the song on her piano, including the bass intro, before calling her sisters.
In 2018 The Warning published their 2nd LP as a concept album, Queen of the Murder Scene. There they delved into issues about life & death, self harm & lunacy. Mindblowing to think that Pau was in middle school when she wrote the initial draft in 2016-17. Very similar to Roger Waters in The Dark Side of the Moon.
How many bands have recorded concept albums in rock history?
