"halay" means "crowded" in turkish.............. "alay".
its is a dance style ,in balkans, anatolia and mesopotamia (in azerbaijan they says yallı to halays)
greecs different , they use kemençe in halay. turks use kemençe only with blacksea "horons"

It is NOT a turkish word!!!!!
The original etymology given in the Kubbealtı Dictionary is that the word is derived from the word "alay", which means "community, crowd". The word "alay" was transferred to Turkish from Persian. In Persian, it is taken from the Greek aláyi(on) αλάγιον "independent cavalry unit in the Byzantine army (10th century)". It probably comes from a Latin word Ultimately! 👍

Kemence is also a Persian word, not turkish. Greeks use Lyra, the original…oldest depictions are from Byzantine Greek Artwork! Look it up!! 👍
Also, HORON means DANCE in the Greek Language. You are unfortunately very EMPTY once again since you arrived very late to the scene 👍
