- German rider Ingrid Klimke's storming round with Andreas Busacker's Horseware Hale Bob OLD today put them in first place at the end of a testing day of cross country here at the 2017 Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials.
this horse actually likes what its doing and trusts the rider to correct, he never balked an instant
That horse was still so strong at the end of the course. She has been riding since conception and it shows. Impressive.
She was kinda sorta trash half the time. The horse, on the other hand, was brilliant.
Goaticorn Have you ever ridden a horse so strong that it feels any second it could be out of control and you have to be kinda overt strong with it still trying to be correct and keep good form? Speaking from experience, it's one Hell of a ride on a razors edge. They were both pretty brilliant.
Goaticorn Who do you think trained the horse HAHA, that all doesn't start in the start box!
The horse,what a champion!
Amazing ride. I still think the course this year was too difficult and dangerous. Hope they don't use the same designer again.
100% agree. I felt like it blatantly disregarded the safety of the animals participating with the design. Really horrible course.
You're so right! And the proof for the injuring possibility is minute 3.29 . I just thought: the poor horse....😕😜
Marissa Nieves Yes I agree especially the triangular jumps!
Horsecrazy 101 well I agree with how dangerous the course was but the corner jumps arnt to difficult for the horse and ridder they do look scary lol it’s about how you come into it and where you jump over the jump.
I was thinking the same thing,I was so scared for some of these horses and riders
my god what an incredible horse. so powerful
for me, she is one of the best riders in the world. but still i found her hands pretty harsh during this ride. but i think that's not because of the rider's technique, but because of this sick cross country course. it is simply not possible to ride this course successfully without pulling the reins so bad.
Joëlle Claire Yea , you're right. The course was too diffcult
Joëlle Claire watch Michael Jung ride it and you will see it's possible. badminton has always been the toughest course in the world. I personally though her riding was horrendous as was alot of them this year. everyone just rode with desperation!
Joëlle Claire I have been there that day and believe me I have seen riders that where pulling in the horses there mounth harder Thanks she does but the trail was just so hard......
Emma Iliano of course, i have watched many other riders where I just thought "wow those horses are saints to not just buck them off"....
The solution is simple just don’t use a bit
A master class in technique! And he looks fresh as a daisy at the finish! That's a well conditioned horse! Beautiful beautiful
@Maureen, Good morning, how are you and how is the weather today? Merry Christmas for you.
funny how some people say shes being waay to rough and others say she keeps loseing her reins and im just agreeing with everyone who says she's just an amazing rider and yeah sure she pulled at time and also let the reins go a bit at others but only to aajust to the difficult course.
Charlotte FINLEY yeah I’m with you and the horse was starting to get quite strong at the end of the horse
@@equine1235 agree too, he'd have to be a lot of horse to go clear on a course like that and not tire out, I'm sure he's a powerhouse to ride.
This horse was very strong & so forward so she needed to be a bit strong with the reins. If not the horse would have been unbalanced with it's head up like a periscope. Probably wouldn't have done so brilliantly over the jumps. She held him back & collected him as any cross country eventer would know to do.
The people who are saying she’s too rough aren’t people who do cross country like this. She’s an incredible rider
That horse is absolutely brilliant. You can actually see him looking for the jumps himself. Great job, Ingrid!
This horse is amazingly honest🐴
amazing how every one in the comments are professional eventers and course designers
It's not hard to tell that the course was far too rough and dangerous.
How do you know that some of them are not....?
@@elizanne6660 because they are wrong
@@aine7529 🙄 that's not an explanation.
@@elizanne6660 they wouldn’t be wrong if they were professionals dumbass think harder
that horse is such a trooper! he just wants to please 💖 but that course is way too dangerous under any circumstance. this was honestly sad watching the horse knock his legs on all the fences
brilliant to watch again as yesterday .. pretty difficult course Too
I am a huge fan of Ingrid Klimke! It is a joy to watch her on course! Always harmonious with her horses, love Hale Bob!
The course looks way too dangerous imo
@Dakota Pegler just bc is fun doesn't mean there isn't any risk
@@user-uv6zb2bx7r that’s the fun
Tolles Pferd, supertolle Reiterin, perfektes Team! Immer schön am Pferd.
2:09 They are a beautiful team together!
This horse. This remarkable horse deserved a horsewoman such as Ingrid. Perfect combination
I would never ride this course with my horse, no matter what achievements and money there was in. To me it'd never be worth possibly losing my horse or injuring her.
Miss Fey I’m late but same! I wouldn’t even consider it. I wouldn’t want to hurt my horse or push them to far. I would only want to have fun and relaxed rides. This is way too stressful for me
If u don’t wanna event u don’t wanna event 👍🏼I love XC tho it looks scary but it’s actually so fun go to a local or ur nearest XC course u should go there and u will enjoy it
It’s ok to have opinions but i don’t think that we should judge others for their decisions. their are way worse things in the horse world such as horse racing. Compared to that this is much better.
@@mcqllen Who is judging? I am simply saying that I would not do this and that is my opinion. You do whatever you want.
And I will add one thing. Just because something is not as bad as the other thing, it doesn't make it good. The horse world needs to change this attitude.
The horse is not a TB- he got rather strong on the latter part of the course. A lesser rider would have been run away with. she kept the precision to negotiate those narrow jumps. When a horse is tired you lose the power steering. Don't be so critical of the rider. Have you ever ridden a horse at the gallop for four miles??? Even without all those humongous jumps?
I've done it at 23miles
@@jadehurley986 a full gallop for 23 miles? No horse can keep a full gallop for 23 miles.
I love Ingrid SO much! Some of the people in my family know her well too!
A remarkable strong horse, well trained and well ridden as well. Wonderfull.
Made my heart beat with joy! What a team.
@Tricia, Good morning, how are you and how is the weather today? Merry Christmas for you.
Man sieht richtig dass das Pferd Spaß daran hat
jana singer hab ich auch gerade gedacht 😍 Voll süß wie er die Ohren immer vorne hat 😊
That is... the best freaking horse I've ever seen in my life!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Good on her - she put her horse first. Excellent and beautiful riding.
This is incredible she was pulling on the horses mouth a bit tho and this cross country course is horrible the jumps are a bit to extreme they can get hurt
I know i rather doing normal show jumping bc if a hores hits the wood its going to hurt its legs meanwhile in the other one the wood will fall so the horse doesnt fell pain
keith *^*
The slip up at 3:29 gave me a heart attack
Yea they shouldn’t have a tight turn after a water jump area.
This was INCREDIBLE!!! After four minutes, I realized she still had 3-1/2 minutes to go, and I thought, OMG they can't possibly continue this pace and these horrendous jumps that long at a gallop... But they did, I'm 62 and I've never seen anything like it. I'm sending the video to my dh to see it...
This course looked way too hard, and although I think it was ridden quite messily, I think she still took it on really well
Elodie Clements was it messy or did she do well lol it can’t be both
Honestly though- who on earth has a PRETTY clean round around BADMINTON....? i dont think its possible?
xc isnt supposed to look pretty...
Is that a thoroughbred?? Also I love that the horse actually seemed happy and confident for most of the way. They seem to really have a bond. It’s awesome to see that. I see a lot of eventers, jumpers, and etc who have 0 connection with their horse.
he‘s a 2004 Oldenburg gelding, but his father was a TB (Helikon xx). His name is Hale Bob.
imo this parcour was just to difficult, horses could really get injured. i dont like this
Parcour?....
ButterflyOnAWeb course
This was hard to watch. Her reigns were too tight and the course was almost perfectly created for injury. Who designed this crap?
Reins, not reigns.
It looked really precarious the entire time!
I mean.. it IS Badminton... i dont think ANYONE signs up for Badminton expecting to have an easy OR purely "safe" go around XC? Only the best of best even attempt Badminton!
I was thinking the same thing. I admire her training methods, but in this round she rode awefully
If it’s too dangerous then y did they get round it. It’s not meant to be easy
That has to be one of the strongest horses I've ever seen! :O
i love watching them i just watched the 2019 one and it was brilliant
Ingrid Klimke and Horsewear Hale Bob: My favorite team
Oh. my. gosh. Wow! What a ride. Can't even imagine. Phenomenal horse and rider. Absolutely cringed over that first fence, ouch *_* But they are such an amazing team!
I just couldnt risk my horse like this !
really could used a drone and covered this course better, hard to make sense of the whole thing
This horse is sooo special, so amazing
Amazing ride! She makes it look so easy!
Amazing horse. So athletic and willing.
Wie das Pferd abdüst ohne das sie einmal die Gerte braucht super team😍😍
@Jaqueline, Guten Morgen, wie geht es dir und wie ist das Wetter heute? Frohe Weihnachten für dich.
Ingrid Klimke is a brilliant horse woman and rider ! Any negative comments are from people who don’t have a clue ! About this sport and what it takes to be this great 👍
Amen
With all the difficulty designed into the course, why is there not a single shade/light spot to see how well the horse and rider adjust to light conditions... That would be more interesting to view than yet another daredevil jump.
Amazing, and such a beautiful horse
What an athletic horse
Sie sind so nett zu den Pferden und loben Sie auch immer so schön 😁😊
That music HAS to be the worst and most irritating background rubbish ever!
Which breed that beautiful and wonderful horse
Oldenburger
First fence was a slight over reach I’d say a little more tension on the right and slower but a really well handled ride ❤love it
I remember 2 years ago, I was telling my friend about how I rode horses n stuff, and she just said "Riding is easy I bet you can jump 2 meters high already" and I told it her wasn't easy to ride a horse, I mean you're basically taming a powerful animal and telling the animal what to do with bravery, and once I took her to the marquise, and she rode a horse, and literally got *traumatized* because the horse lowered its head and started eating grass 🙄 (we weren't even trotting man)
Cross country looks so fun 😵 and ofc a lot of work 😂
Bryan Callahan brought me here. Thanks b.
What the hell is this course who designed it I think in her mind that she was saying I’m gonna make the most dangerous course ever
That MIGHT indeed be the most terrifying jump IN to a water complex i have ever seen!? Because 2 of the following wouldnt be ENOUGH- lets combine a 7ft+ drop INTO water on an already a notoriously long, insanely difficult CCI4* course AND lets design it to look like a huge trakenher too? Eeeek
I totally agree, scared the dickens out of me watching it!
Cringing so bad every time the horse buys the jump with the hind legs. Must hurt. The course was so difficult
Hlo I am also a Rider but before it I had never seen this tupe performance... 👍
what is the white stuff on the horses legs 0:33
ElsaArchsmith thanks for replying but what is the vaseline for
ElsaArchsmith okay. thanks again for replying. don’t worry i understand you 🙂
This lady just holds on and her awesome horse does everything.
that’s not true at all
@@kendylthompson922 Oh what, she has to steer a bit.. wheeew! hard work. This horse knows where its going. Its absolutely crazy and dangerous, especially for the horse.
@@outoftime7740 well the rider sets the horses pace, striding, momentum, encourages it, holds the horse a certain way to use the correct muscles, etc.
@@kendylthompson922 Which muscle to use? Lol. This isn't show jumping, where you can measure the steps in between. This is balls out cross country. Where only the horses that love to jump will play. The horse knows what it's doing. This is a timed race, so you couldn't go any slower. The horse is in a perfect gallop, while she steers and holds the he'll on.
@@outoftime7740 yes the rider can hold a horse in a frame to encourage a correct top line which allows the horse to use themselves properly. you can measure the strides in between and coming up to the fence to make the horse jump off the correct stride. yes this is a timed course but there are things like optimum time and not all horses can just gallop through the course because that would be dangerous. obviously you don’t have much knowledge of cross country or of riding in general
What happens if the horse is hurt?😢
Sein Galopp erinnert mich schon fast an eine Maschine... Im positiven Sinne natürlich, wow😍
I would like to do this course but i think it's too dangerous for my horse
What a superstar team, I just wish the horse was ridden without a noseband and bit. The music fits perfectly with their stride, it really pumps you up!
What is IN the water in Germany my god how do they ALL RIDE XC this amazingly!?! Even in the harriest situations they stay with their horses SO WELL! Epitome of "Fifth Leg RIDING!" It's amazing to watch riders like Ingrid and Mikky Jung on XC courses like this!
It's part of the school curriculum apparently that you have to learn about/ride horses with school
Why did they try to give her eleven penalties?
Indeed, would like to know that as well
Penalties are generally time or refusal related
tubeyhamster time or accidentally knocking one of the clips on the jumps
Time
I wish I had a horse like Bobby
Though the rider was pulling or even losing the reins the horse was enjoying it and had really no sign of pain :)
Race of the horse?
Hale Bob is an Oldenburger.
Amazing rider and horse ❤🏇
not for me, I'll take a gallop on the beach
😨😟😧oh is it dangerus for the horse !!
was this horse injured previously? what is on the rear right leg? scar?
sirtubemaster vaseline. It’s prevents little injuries eg from the hedges.
i am not a pro ,just a rider ...wow wow wow amazing
Fine horse, fine ride.
Was für ne Power!!! Love it!
On voit que le cheval a une entière confiance en la cavaliere ❤
3:29 *ouch*
i think the horse is a good horse, and she is a good rider but he seemed pretty eager and forward which is why she seemed to be going so hard on the reins. the course seemed way too extreme and tight though, I definitely wouldn’t want to take my horse through this. the first couple jumps there seemed horrible, the horses leg caught on the rail too.
can somebody please tell me what breed that horse is?
Its an Oldenburger called SAP Hale Bob OLD
Great horse riding and I affectively used my volume control to wipe out that annoying synthesizer music, No make that synthesizer annoyance
Myself, I think She is one of the best riders. But this course.. damn. Who designed this. Its really dangerous. They are asking to get injured or killed
not in anyway am i hating on ingrid or her riding, the course was done beautifully, but before we all fill our wine glasses here me out. every equestrian makes mistakes, every equestrian is never done learning, which is exactly why i made this. please share your opinion. thank you
now I want to do cross country with my horse.
Amazing
dieses Pferd zeigt ganz klare Abwehr und Schmerz Verhalten!
Bitte wann und wo?
the course was crazy
Big course, rough hands at times, athletic horse...
That horse is gorgeous and that rider very good even though she kept pulling the reins but then again many sharp turns. That course is hard! I wouldn't want my horse (not that I have one) participating seems it's very easy to get hurt :(.
@Claudia,Good morning, how are you and how is the weather today? Merry Christmas for you.
Powerhouse of a Horse.could never quite warm up to her style.
I thoght the riding never ending good riding but I think much to hard for horse and danger for both
Why does it look like she's constantly dropping her reins and not ready to jump?
I'm not 100% sure, but I think that she was letting the horse gallop on the forehand during the gallops between the jumps to save energy and then she had to get his head up again before the jumps.
Rachael Glaeser, she gave her horse extra rein when going on a downhill jump.
I hope that whoever is commenting say it was too difficult, yeah this sport is VERY difficult. But this is top competition so it’s going to be rough but if the rider felt like their horse was going to injure themselves they should have stopped
Very very good...special.
What a wonderful team 😍😍😍
wow this was way to difficult
like i dont want to hate but i just don't like how he hits the jumps with his back legs that hard lol
