JazakAllahu Khairan Sheikh Dr Yasir Qadhi I watched this series in 2016 BEFORE I became a Muslim on June 21,2016. Now after 8 years, I am watching these videos again this November, 2024. Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhi from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
So much to learn from this seerah it helps you to understand Quran better. I recommend each and every Muslim to listen, understand and learn. Thanks a lot brother for this hard work.
Your tolerance and open discussion regarding the nabi and rasoul topic is exemplary! You were not driving the discussion, rather you provoked the audience to think and talk with ease and comfort. Such a great example
Subhana-Allah, I have watched a lot of talks on seerah but they are not in so much details like this. I have learnt so much from this one. This is superb! Jazakh Allahu khairan to Sheikh Yasir Qadhi.
Thanks Sheikh for contributing this series. I dont know how many times i have repeated this series may be +25 times. I have been watching this series since 2014.
54:10 The first converts to Islam at the hands of our Prophet (PBUH). Hazrat Khadijah (r.a.), Waraqa-bin-Naufil, Hazrat Ali (r.a.), Hazrat Zaid-Ibn-Harisa (r.a.), Hazrat Abu Bakr (r.a.).
The more you learn, the more you begin to learn, how much more there is to learn and how little you know. I am also hooked to the series and I am thankful and grateful to Allah SWT for favoring us with a scholar like Sheik Yasir Qadhi.
Episode 11 Notes: The Different Types of Wahi and the Difference Between Rasul and Nabi According to Ibn Qayyim, the Prophet SAW was inspired by 7 types of Wahi: 1.True Dreams: Available to all humans and is still open to mankind. Not limited to Prophets. 2.Whispering of the Angels: Only available to very righteous people. It comes from Allah SWT to the Angels and into your heart. 3.Directly seeing and speaking to Angel who brings Wahi: Only available to Prophets. 4.Jibreel AS would come in his original form and the Prophet SAW would go into a trance like state. This type of Wahi was very hard for the Prophet SAW and in this state he communicates with Jibreel AS. Jibreel doesn’t physically manifest himself, in this type of Wahi. 5.Jibreel AS physically manifests himself: The Prophet SAW, saw Jibreel in his original form only twice. Once when the first revelation aka verses 1-5 of Surah 96 were revealed. The second time was on the night journey. 6.Allah SWT directly gave the Prophet SAW Wahi without the intermediary of an angel. 7.Allah SWT directly speaks to the Prophet SAW: Only ever happened once on the Night Journey. The Second Revelation After the Second Revelation, the Prophet SAW began preaching to his immediate friends and family. The First convert to Islam was Khadijah RA and then Waraqah ibn Nawfal. Next it was Ali, Abu Bakr and Zayd ibn Harith. The next batch of converts were all at the hands of Abu Bakr. They were Sa'id ibn Abi Waqqas, Uthman ibn Affan, Zubair ibn Awwam and Abdul Rahman ibn Awf. Sa'id ibn Abi Waqqas is the companion, about whom the Prophet SAW said “May my mother and father be given for you in ransom”. The Prophet SAW said this phrase during the most crucial part of the Seerah, which was during the Battle of Uhud when Sa’d RA was protecting the Prophet SAW. The Prophet SAW only ever used this phrase for Sa’d Ibn Abi Waqqas RA. Zubair Ibn Awwam was a cousin of Muhammad SAW and Ali RA and he is whom the Prophet SAW said that “Every single prophet has been given a special disciple and Allah has given me Zubair Ibn Awwam as this disciple”. This was said prior to the Battle of Khandaq. Abdul Rahman ibn Awf gave up everything when he migrated to Medina and he went to Medina as a beggar. Only to become a rich man once again. The next convert was Abdullah Ibn Masud, a Yemini, who during his life, learnt 70 Surahs directly from the mouth of Prophet Muhammad SAW. The next batch of converts was from the slave class of Makkah, notable examples included Bilal Ibn Rabah, Yasir, Summayyah, Ammar and Khabbab ibn Al Aratt. The Difference between a Nabi and a Rasul A Nabi is someone who Allah SWT gives information too. So, that they then inform the people about what Allah SWT wants them to do. A Nabi is already accepted by his people. A Rasul is someone who Allah SWT sends to a people, who don’t accept or believe in him. Generally, every Rasul had a new Shariah. But this is not a rule and there are exceptions. Every Rasul is a Nabi, but not every Nabi is a Rasul. These definitions are from Ibn Taymiyyah who looked at the linguistic definitions of the words. The 5 Arch-Prophets also known as the Ulil’Azam are Nuh AS, Ibrahim AS, Musa AS, Isa AS and Muhammad SAW. Fun Trivia fact: The Prophets and Messengers of Allah SWT have only ever been men. There is a minority opinion however, that there were female Prophets. Fun Trivia fact: Just seeing or talking to an Angel or Angel Jibreel does not make you a Prophet. Fun Trivia fact: Jibreel AS took the form Dihya Al Kalbi during the Medina Period. Dihya was regarded as the most handsome of all the Sahabah. Fun Trivia fact: Amr ibn Abasah was a man from Yemen, who heard about the Prophet SAW in the 1st year of the dawah. So, he travelled to Muhammad SAW from Yemen and he asked to become a Muslim. But, the Prophet SAW told him no. The Prophet SAW told him to return to him, once he has become victorious and that it wasn’t safe for him to become a Muslim yet. Fun Trivia fact: The Scholars of hadith have stated, that if you have lots of hadiths with weak chains about the same incident, then if you put them all together, then the hadith becomes authentic. But, this is not always the case and it’s dependent on the sciences of hadith. ========================================================== Disclaimer for my Notes of Sheikh Yasir Qadhi’s Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Series: Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh, these are my notes on Sheikh Yasir Qadhi’s Seerah series. Please note: I HIGHLY recommend that you all watch YQ’s Seerah series, as I DON’T cover every single detail the Sheikh mentions. I made these notes primarily for myself but, decided my fellow brothers and sisters may benefit from them too. I no doubt will have made mistakes in my notes. All the good in these notes is from Allah SWT and all the mistakes are from myself. But, I was very meticulous and tried my best to make sure everything is accurate as the Sheikh mentions it. You also will see I have added “Fun Trivia facts” under each of my notes. These FTFs are information YQ said that was off topic or not necessary to include in my notes for the episode. But, they were still worth mentioning hence the inclusion as FTFs. FTFs aren’t always HAPPY pieces of information. Sometimes they are very sad trivia. I just want to say that FTF is the phrase I used for them all collectively when making the notes. One thing I wanted to do but am too lazy to do is, maybe someone could take the FTFs from under each “Episode” and make an Islamic reminder/information IG/TikTok account and post them daily or something. Could be a great form of Sadaqah Jaariyah. Please keep me in your Duas and ask Allah SWT to forgive all our sins during this blessed month and beyond! Ameen

Assalamu Alaykum Sheikh Yasir Qadhi, Mashallah, I've learned a lot from your lectures and I truly want to thank you. May Allah bless your efforts and grant you the highest place in Jannah. In minute 58 you said that Prophet Muhammad said that: “Had Allah not already taken me as a Khaleel, then I would have taken Abu Bakr as my Khaleel. You also go on to say that you can only have one Khaleel.” I am little bit confused about this as Allah SWT says in Surah Nisa' Verse 125 that Allah has taken Ibraheem as a Khaleel. Jazakallahu Khairan
Well caught, I was also thinking the same. This proves that undoubtedly he is doing a good job but is still human and prone to errors. Not everything he says has to be correct.
I doubt I would have known even half of the interesting yet necessary information if i were to learn seerah from other sources. It's only possible only when one goes through a lot of books. We are lucky that we of this generation don't have to invest as much considerable amount of time as our previous generations because of these scholars through technological advancement. Indeed Allah has made all these possible since Allah verily knows that current generation will be reluctant to put that much effort.
