    As correct as you are about cleaning stuff being a fix for many things, it isnt the case for 99% of drifting controllers. As someone who has fixed literally hundreds, most of the time the potentiometers are damaged. They have carbon tracks that are rubbed away by the metal wipers. Cleaning usually only fixes drift in controllers that are pretty new like when people say they have only had their controller a month before it drifted, but it isn't common that it isnt from wear.
