Don’t rebuke harshly, but in love, if someone is in sin, you should bring it to their attention ESPECIALLY if that bro or sis is influential. Matthew 18:15-20 and 1 Corinthians 5:1-5. In the first verse Jesus says if your brother sins pointed out just between you two. If they don’t listen, bring it to their attention with a few more brothers and sisters in Christ. If they still don’t listen, bring it to the church. If they still don’t listen, treat them as an unbeliever. In the second verse, Paul actually kick someone out of the church for sexual immorality
I get why we should pray for sick individuals but if they have major influence like TD Jakes and Kirk Franklin they need to be held to a high standard. If they are doing vile acts behind the scenes they need to be held accountable. 🤷🏾♂️

I don't understand why you're tripping on the butt naked thing and writing..... Honey we were born into the world butt naked. That's the most vulnerable state we can be in. Many people sleep nude. It is not a sin. I don't idolize Kirk. I grew up often seeing him sing around Fort Worth, TX. My mom was a church musician who knew him. I have enjoyed his music and grew up singing his songs as a kid and into adulthood. If he felt inspired in the middle of the night, I'm sure he just got up and went straight to the piano.... I am certain he is not the only creative who has created something while nude. I have as others have. I'm glad Christians are still human. That snippet didn't bother me ...glad he shared it. I thought it was funny. The world celebrates artist for being creative when they are doped up and high but we want to criticize this man for creating while nude...sheesh.... This led me to go see the whole interview, and it is excellent! Kirk reminds me of God's Loving Kindness and His Great Mercy! God Loves to use our “us” with the understanding that we need Jesus and the Holy Spirit! I understand Kirk; based on his background, thank God, he made it! The lukewarm Christian is the one who is a Christian by name only. Kirk doesn’t deny Jesus Christ is Lord! I always hear Kirk lift up the name of Jesus! The sinner is the one that continues in his/her unrighteous acts and ways, like a many of Christians in the church house. Kirk even turned down secularity, big name Prince. He never went secular! I think it’s a really touching interview, very testimonial, sincere and even evangelistic!

I was an independent single woman taking care of my 3 kids alone and what you described what exactly how I felt at that time in my life. I met and married my husband and we have grown closer and closer to God but there are still time I wish he could be exactly the way you described. I’ve felt it but you put it into words in a way that I couldn’t. I did a bit of research on the meaning or etymology of the words “rebuke” and “entreat” in the Greek Strong’s Concordance. The basic understanding and difference between the two boils down to the tone and intention used when addressing an elder. The term “rebuke”, according to the Strong’s concordance means: 1) to strike upon or beat upon 2) to chastise with words, to chide, or to upbraid The American definition of the word “chastise” is: to censure severely. Some synonyms of this word are to “tongue lash”, “chew out”, or “scold”. However, the term “entreat” or “intreat” in the Strong’s concordance means: 1) to call to one’s side, to beg, to beseech, to admonish, or to instruct/teach The American definition of “beseech” is: to beg for urgently or anxiously or to request earnestly. The sum message of this verse isn’t telling young men to remove the warning for whatever spiritual or physical danger they may be in as result of being out of right standing with God or man, but it is instructing young men to present the warning in a way that it doesn’t remove their honor in the faces of others, but the concerns of The Lord are still expressed so that the blood is not on their hands. I think, however, this is case by case, depending on the offense and what needs to be exposed or called out. I don’t believe in tearing each other down, but I also don’t believe in being silent where an alarm should be sounded whether it’s to the individual or to a people. the question about if listening to kirk franklin & maverick city is the same as listening to secular artists: to me anyway, it’s incomparable. personally, i expect secular artist to have certain things in their music because of their audience. for christian artists, i hold them to a higher standard because i don’t want to be led astray with false doctrine, which is definitely in music. music is spiritual and allows certain behaviors or beliefs to go into our subconscious. with christian artists (which is all i listen to aside from the occasional classical music) i look at lyrics and lifestyle before listening.

Right, with secular artists things are more obvious than with christian artists. Sometimes christian artists and songs can be sneaky and you wouldn't notice it because you expect the songs to be about God.
Also, you have to remember that gospel and secular music artist is not God. They shouldn't be admired and put on a pedestal because they're human and are subjected to fall. Psalms 118: 8-9 reads- It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in princes.

Oh my goodness I absolutely love this perspective. Kirk yes could’ve kept the early transparency but his transparency about his struggles with God was important.
Often God will deal with us when we are naked, bare, at our lowest... This man writes hits for Jesus. Whether naked or not.... He writes songs that have brought people to Christ. He is not perfect and he admits that. When God is dealing with someone, he will pull you out your sleep, (however you are)... Kirk has gone through a lot and has stugggled like most foster care and adopted children do.... But all of his flaws and struggles has brought beautiful music out of him and made others relate that can understand... Kirk is just real and sometimes with age, we just don't care Anymore about how stuff is said.... I don't think its anything sexual, although he admits being very sexual.... So to get out of bed after being with his wife and write what God puts on his heart, even in the nude... Is actually beautiful, in my opinion... As a singer and song writer.... And, he's not the only person in the world that sleeps or walk around their house Butt Naked. You can't tell a man that he can't do that in his home!! God sees us in all of our Nakedness. When on the battlefield do you watch another soldier (equipped or not for battle) go down in defeat or do you use your weapons of prayer to try to help to get back up? 1 Tim 5:1 is the verse in which you refer...when someone who proclaims to be Christian actually does fall yes by all means pray for them. But when they willfully continue to spread falsehoods and agree with the depraved and pure evilness of satan then we should call them out...there's no gray area in Christ.

I haven't watched the whole video yet but when it comes to being lukewarm as a famous Christian personality, it's producing lukewarm Christians. This led me to go see the whole interview, and it is excellent! Kirk reminds me of God's Loving Kindness and His Great Mercy! God Loves to use our “us” with the understanding that we need Jesus and the Holy Spirit! I understand Kirk; based on his background, thank God, he made it! The lukewarm Christian is the one who is a Christian by name only. Kirk doesn’t deny Jesus Christ is Lord! I always hear Kirk lift up the name of Jesus! The sinner is the one that continues in his/her unrighteous acts and ways, like a many of Christians in the church house. Kirk even turned down secularity, big name Prince. He never went secular! I think it’s a really touching interview, very testimonial, sincere and even evangelistic!

I was an independent single woman taking care of my 3 kids alone and what you described what exactly how I felt at that time in my life. I did a bit of research on the meaning or etymology of the words “rebuke” and “entreat” in the Greek Strong’s Concordance. The basic understanding and difference between the two boils down to the tone and intention used when addressing an elder.
The term “rebuke”, according to the Strong’s concordance means:
1) to strike upon or beat upon
2) to chastise with words, to chide, or to upbraid
The American definition of the word “chastise” is: to censure severely. Some synonyms of this word are to “tongue lash”, “chew out”, or “scold”.
However, the term “entreat” or “intreat” in the Strong’s concordance means:
1) to call to one’s side, to beg, to beseech, to admonish, or to instruct/teach
The American definition of “beseech” is: to beg for urgently or anxiously or to request earnestly.
The sum message of this verse isn’t telling young men to remove the warning for whatever spiritual or physical danger they may be in as result of being out of right standing with God or man, but it is instructing young men to present the warning in a way that it doesn’t remove their honor in the faces of others, but the concerns of The Lord are still expressed so that the blood is not on their hands.
I think, however, this is case by case, depending on the offense and what needs to be exposed or called out. I don’t believe in tearing each other down, but I also don’t believe in being silent where an alarm should be sounded whether it’s to the individual or to a people. This really does take wisdom and discernment to execute properly though. I hope this helps anyone else that is looking for some understanding concerning this passage of scripture! 🙏🏾

the question about if listening to kirk franklin & maverick city is the same as listening to secular artists: to me anyway, it’s incomparable. personally, i expect secular artist to have certain things in their music because of their audience. for christian artists, i hold them to a higher standard because i don’t want to be led astray with false doctrine, which is definitely in music. music is spiritual and allows certain behaviors or beliefs to go into our subconscious. with christian artists (which is all i listen to aside from the occasional classical music) i look at lyrics and lifestyle before listening.

Right, with secular artists things are more obvious than with christian artists. Sometimes christian artists and songs can be sneaky and you wouldn't notice it because you expect the songs to be about God.
Also, you have to remember that gospel and secular music artist is not God. They shouldn't be admired and put on a pedestal because they're human and are subjected to fall. Psalms 118: 8-9 reads- It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in princes.

No one should feel shocked and violated bcuz Kirk said he sits at his piano writing a song, Butt Naked! The man is in the privacy of his home. And, he's not the only person in the world that sleeps or walk around their house Butt Naked. You can't tell a man that he can't do that in his home!! God sees us in all of our Nakedness. His songs inspired many people whether naked or clothed. It doesn't matter!

We as people look up to others and walk in their light because we haven't found our light yet and we're getting lost. So I don't necessarily think your judgment is too harsh.
