Went there on the Saturday too, it was awesome meeting John Romero, really nice guy. Also met Bez, world champion Outrun player, kindly gave us some great tips on Outrun.
Spotted myself on the pinballs :p I was glad to set high scores on Donkey Kong and Frogger on the Saturday (FUK.. yes how childish) and the Robotron wasn't working properly when I went to it. The left joystick wouldn't move right. I played quite a bit of the Baby Pacman... but that was a tough game! Hardly got to play the pin section as the video section was a hog.
Sadly I missed Play Expo this year - managed to get to all the previous ones. Little tip if you really enjoyed playing those arcade machines set to free play: the awesome Arcade Club has got you covered all year round! They've got them in Bury, Blackpool and Leeds. Pay one price in, then over 200+ arcade machines at each venue set to free play. Worth another trip up north I reckon!
Robotron was a fantastic game to play on the Apple II. Keyboard play required both hand and eight fingers. Hovering hands and punching 16 different keys certainly opened up some unique neural pathways in my brain.
I'd love to go to something like that, would have to be a bit further North for me, Newcastle would be extra great as I'd be able to choose whether to take a quick train(45 mins) home or just crash at my brother's place. Last time I was in Blackpool I would've been maybe 9 or 10 years old. We actually went to Morecambe for a fortnight, but dad took us to Blackpool a few times since it was close by. I think he thought it was a bad idea as the entire seafront was lined with arcades and he had some difficulty getting me out of them and stopping me from spending all my holiday money in them.
I didn't even know this was a thing!? RetroShack fans should make this an annual pilgrimage from next year, I say. Not been to Blackpool since the illuminations as a kid. Always wanted an in depth look at an Oric Atmos so really looking forward to that episode when it comes out.
I wish I could've been there. I have my car insurance, tax and MOT coming at the end of October and I'm already skint. Living with the heating off and surviving on soup to save money. Hopefully I'll be there next year. Great to see you with John Romero and Jim Bagley though.
The Atmos! Great find!

Nice
I always wanted that Oric Atmos.
It just looked amazing.
Great video! Thank you!
To John Romero killing the Amiga I have just one word: Daikatana. We win!
Flippin awesome.

I loved it can't wait for next year
We had that exact binatone system, complete with "gun". It may even still be in my parent's loft somewhere.
Sorry the Joust wasn’t working. We’d been having intermittent problems with it. I’ll get it sorted before the next show.
Looking forward to the Oric! Interesting looking machine!
It is llike ORAO in Croatia :-)
I have been to Play Expo in the past, but health stopped me from going this year... Hope I can make it again in the future
Looks really good - bigger and better than I thought! Thanks for the video!

Damn right Matthew!

Thanks for the run through; I couldn’t make it this year and it looks to have been a good’un 👍
What a fun trip. Did you do any of the touristy things that one is supposed to do in Blackpool?
Nope - I did ALL of the touristy things that one is supposed to do in Blackpool :) :)
Ahhh I did see you there on the Saturday I remember that top
Dam lucky I say, and twice now I have sat more than 3 hours on the M6 alone not moving more than a couple of miles.

Nice.
Btw. where do I find the ZX Spectrum Keyboard Interface shown in the video on PCB Way?
Is Antstream still a thing?
2:35 someone else that looks very familiar too...
_Translator:_
Will you make a new video about your PCB board?
PS. I also love Robotron 2084.
Damn I always seem to miss things like this, looked like an awesome day out. Hopefully you didn't go home without a kiss me quick hat 🤠😂
That show was so disappointing. Most of the arcade machines were out of order. Guess those relics do not travel well.
