Having another go at sloping with my Brother. (He was flying the black and gold Sinbad) We found it's important to have two gliders that fly at about the same speed. These two seem nicely matched.
As a seasoned RC glider pilot I love the slow laid back non-competitive vibe here. Just some beautiful vintage gliders flitting and floating together on the slope. ❤

Beautiful flying and filming. Great team work, but there did seem to be a competitive edge nearer the end. I hope no damage was sustained. Two planes with a big speed differential could be interesting . . . one flying nice sedate patterns while the other runs circles, rolls and loops around it. Well, maybe some day.

John's videos and flying captur the essence of what 'flying' is all about. He captures a child's innocence and awe of discovering something for the first time which is in us all. Even when he does it over and over again it never loses this refreshing innocence. If ever we need an antidote to the mad modern world we inhabit today then this is it. And where better to capture it than on the Cornish coast. Or maybe I am reading too much into it, why not just enjoy it without understanding why?

To formation fly, I believe it's not size that has to be the same, but sink rate and the key there is wing loading more than glide angle. Not sure though.

Just discovered your channel. Do you always fly at Perranporth? I’m down the road in Hayle, but often come up to Perranporth. (Getting into FPV quads recently. But want to try slope / gliders.)
Hi there. I live in Perranporth so it’s really convenient for me to fly from here, but I do sometimes fly at other places. If the wind is from the East I go down towards Gwythian. You are more than welcome to come fly any of my gliders.
