Fascinating! I loved My Favourite Things is Monsters! The art is amazing and the story includes a mystery, real life art, history. So unique. I've been patiently waiting for the follow-up🙂
On A Sunbeam is one of my favorites! It's a cozy sci-fi story about choosing your own family and coming of age. I definitely recommend looking up images of some of the panels, because they're gorgeous!
This is such a fun concept! I'm going to try it and get back on my thoughts. But first female friendships! I love stories on them too but realized most are YA stories... I'll take your rec on Miss Benson's Beetle. A couple adult stories I enjoyed are The Gown by Jennifer Robson and Love & Saffron by Kim Fay. Looking forward to part 2 of this video!
Very interesting! I honestly think part of the problem is that nobody writes books about adult female friendships that are not toxic or more frenemies situations. Apparently as girls we can bond and get along and support one another and stick together through thick and thin...but (at least the publishing world thinks) we apparently turn on one another as adults and can't have beautiful, life affirming relationships. It's depressing that all the books about women make us out to be rivals or enemies. My best and most lasting relationships in adulthood have been friendships with other women, so it depresses me that nobody seems to want to depict that in the arts.
I kind of wish you were reading The Magus by John Fowles for this experiment because it sounded sooo interesting. I added it to my Goodreads TBR immediately. Still looking forward to the reading vlog, though. 😊
The tech is in its infancy and it will improve over time and input usage. As you liked The Feather Thief and The Falcon Thief I think you would enjoy A Forgers Tale, Shaun Greenhalgh and The Secret Rooms, Catherine Bailey. I have read many of your recommendations and enjoyed all of them. There seems to be a massive gap in the market for good adult adventure I also spend time searching. Yours is one of the best vlogs on TH-cam ❤ all your content.
Ok, I tried to get it to recommend books based on other books and it either kept recommending the books I had already mentioned or books that weren't for adults, so I ran into the same issues you did. I had much better luck asking for authors similar to other authors, though! I found a few books that look really interesting.
AI is so fascinating! I was playing with it the other day, and am honestly so impressed with what it can do. It did try to tell me that Ninth House is a lesser known dark academia novel, but it still did manage to expand my TBR a little bit. I also got a sample of a book that is written entirely by AI, and while it's amazing that it can even cobble together a coherent narrative, I'll leave the writing to the authors a while longer. 😂
I loved Tam Lin by Pamela Dean. Have you read it? Some love it (me!), some don’t. It was recommended to me because of my love for The Secret History. I read it back in 2014 and need to reread it to see if it still gets 5 stars from me. I must admit the very end I didn’t love, but that’s true of Donna Tartt’s books too.
Super interesting to see what it recommended! The Best We Could Do by Thi Bui is one of my favorite graphic memoirs, btw, but it's quite heavy (all about generational trauma). In Real Life is pretty political in its messaging, but the art is super cute (the artist is Jen Wang, who did The Prince and the Dressmaker).
I did'nt really enjoy Little Women.. It was okay.. We aren't a lot of people with that opinion :P When I think of books about female friendships, I think about My brilliant friend by Elena Ferrante but those as well : Expectation by Anna Hope Swimming to Elba by Silvia Avallone

Excited for the next part. Hope you are enjoying the books.

I haven't read The Magus but I have read some other books by John Fowles and his writing is really great!
Haven’t read The Magus, but The Collector by John Fowles is excellent!
Very interesting idea Alice, can't wait to see how it works out 😉

Not surprising that it struggled with things similar to The Secret History. This was interesting, a good way to find different books

The Eight is SO good! It takes place in my neck of the woods, so that’s extra fun! This was the first time I’ve seen ChatGPT used, very interesting!
Thank you Alice ! This was so interesting !
This was so helpful Alice! And I love how you say Hi and Thank you. 😂
This is a genius idea. I'm gonna have to do it for myself! I also always say hi and please and thank you to the AI 😂

BTW: The Likeness was excellent too.
Have you read people of the book by Geraldine Brooks
omg I love this idea hahah

Expectation by Anna Hope
Swimming to Elba by Silvia Avallone
That was very interesting! I wonder if you will DNF any of those. PS I’m not a fan of Little Women either.
