  • Landscaping The Front Yard With Our Case 450 Bulldozer, I am slowly knocking down that large bank that was between our house and the road. It's all just a part of our off grid homesteading lifestyle.

    A little bite at a time goes a long way with the old machine. Makes me think of the story about the Little Engine That Could, I think I can approach. Well done again folks👍

    Good morning Cecil and Heather!!
    That 450 has really been a godsend for getting the landscaping done around the homestead. There is a lot of really nice topsoil in that pile. If you spread it out around the house you will be able to get some nice grass growing next year so you don't get any erosion.
    It's amazing what kind of treasures you find in a pile like that. LOL!!
    The old 450 hopefully will keep going as long as you don't run her out of oil.
    Take care my friends and stay safe and healthy!!😀😀❤❤

    The Northern Farmer Channel out in Alberta has an older Case International tractor that belches about as much “West Nile” fog as your dozer and they call it “Old Smokey”! Another one for Greta!

    The old Case 450 dozer has a lot of power as bad as it smoking, guess if you keep it full of oil it will run a long time.

    Who say's You can't clear land with a dozer. You just have to be smarter than the tractor.

    Looks like great topsoil you could make a couple hugoculture beds with some of that rotten wood and that soil look up hugoculture its pretty cool way to grow food never needs much watering or fertilizing cheers

    I have to ask :-) what made you decide on clearing a lot of the land? I thought you were happy the way things were :-) Are you going to grow more, which is a very good idea. save's money and i must admit i get a kick out of growing my own. Last week i put turnips / radishes / More Kale cabbage & Garlic in, stacks of carrots :-) all popping up. My cabbage are like footballs, so i will be freezing some. Going to blanch and freeze potatoes with peppers/Onion. OMG you should hear my dog SNORE lol I should be leaving my job very soon and i feel good about it :-) take care

      Good morning. I have a few reasons for wanting more cleared land. We do want to plant more for sure....But the reasons I am getting rid of this bank are.... It's a place for mosquitoes, black flies to live. It blocks the wind from keeping the flies at bay. It also blocks the view of the road ( our old house, shop and the little shed ) It holds water in the spring which makes our yard very wet, it also blocks the sun as well in the winter :-( Yeah I have a few reasons to remove this bank. Thanks again. You have a great day. Cheers.

      @@SkinnersOffGrid Brilliant :-) don't blame you. Doing a good job, think of all that money your saving doing it your self. The bulldozer is a work horse that is for sure. keep up the good work. Hire your bulldozer and your self out :-) The weather is getting colder and rain. always nice to watch other people working lol take care.

    • @SkinnersOffGrid
      @SkinnersOffGrid  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello Terry... A lot of the logs are at the bottom, If I burn it now only the top stuff will burn. If I root it up and separate the soil from the trees the fire will burn way faster and cleaner. Cheers.
