      Lil Dagga I notice Clarkson typically misses a lot of passes. He's more of a drive, disrupt the offense, and find the open man kind of passes. On the open floor his passing vision is kind of bad.

    Lonzo ranks 42/450 players on defence in NBA! That's great!!!

  • @ElitezCinema
    @ElitezCinema 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Lonzo's defense is definitely underrated. A lot of people just think he's lazy or terrible because of that game against Fox. He might not be the fastest but he knows how to use his length well which just shows how good his IQ is. Once he gets stronger I think the defense will be even more versatile since he won't get pushed around against bigger players. I would like for him to get better at staying in front of faster players though but that will probably come with more experience.

  • @Gramsoy
    @Gramsoy 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Pete, again a very informative video and great breakdown of the game. Has there ever been a point guard with lonzo's blocking ability? Also, why is the national media ignoring Lonzo's obvious positive help on the defensive side?

      Because they are Haters...Why would they say Good things about Lonzo...IT does not support their Argument...What can you do...There will always be Haters and Trolls...

    • @dutchmilk
      @dutchmilk 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually the comment above me should stop using the word hater. It kind of take away basketball from the game and make no different from the mainstream basketball channel like espn and tnt who is more like a drama channel than a actual basketball channel.
      Lonzo game is unqiue in today game because of his length and his tempo pace.
      People tend to forget how defense are confused when he goes around with his dribble. He take up spaces which create open spaces for his other 4 team mates to operate.
      I admire his unqiueness. If lakers can surround lonzo with a few more well rounded players like aron gordon, david west, shaun livingston, al horford. Lakers can do alot of damage in offense.
      If paul george really do sign with LA next year, lopez, george, kuzma and lonzo is going to be a force to be reckon with.

    That weak side overload out to counter the trap that you showed blew my mind. Such a simple adjustment had such a big impact on the game. Very cool stuff man.

  • @justina5688
    @justina5688 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    This was the first time ever (I never watch the suns game where Lonzo score like 29 btw) where I actually felt safe when Lonzo was in the game. Like I noticed I was counting the seconds until Lonzo was subbed back in. Usually when he's subbed in I'm just like ok we're guna have a faster pace and Clarkson can stop 1v5ing the offense now but this game, I caught myself actually wanting Lonzo to get as much play time as possible. The offense was just running so smoothly this game with him. And it also helps that his shots were falling. Great game, just wished they'd made their free throws and limited those turnovers.

    • @KSNCubed
      @KSNCubed 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I feel like he's so good at everything else, that if he can get his shot to fall, the lakers, as well as zo, will be a force to be reckoned with in the future

    I see what you're saying about the short rolls, at the same time Randle never really sets a solid enough screen he more so just throws his arms out or pushes the points defender which more times than not led to a trap. Don't know if his IQ is where it should be, I'd personally rather see Kuz get more minutes than Randle. Loving the content man, keep it up!

    • @LakerFilmRoom
      @LakerFilmRoom  7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Man, that's a loaded question. To his credit, he focused on the defensive end in training camp, and it's really paid off. The Lakers are better on defense than I could've possibly imagined. But I don't think there's enough ball/player movement on offense, and I don't love his rotations. Julius Randle shouldn't be getting only 6.5 minutes more per game than Corey Brewer does.

    • @mikestone2279
      @mikestone2279 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Laker Film Room I have a personal opinion on randle. Remember last year when he ripped a rebound out of nance hands and elbowed him in the face and didn't even apologize? I noticed a lot of the young Lakers don't like him. Clarkson is the only one I've seen who seems genuinely excited for him and Lonzo and kuzma never look at him in his eyes. Do you think luke just doesn't like randle personally and their trying to figure out a way to win without him and still trade him ? I know you be super busy but I really appreciate you answering my last question and if you can't make it to this one I totally understand

    • @makehumanitygreatagain8128
      @makehumanitygreatagain8128 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't know that about Randle. I don't really follow the Lakers. I started paying attention because of Lonzo. It's interesting that you mention about Clarkson being a supporter of his. On the basis of what I saw on this video they seem to have really poor on court chemistry - really down to Clarkson's inability to pass the ball out of the pick and roll. Don't know whether he's just afraid of a turnover or what? He has an obvious aversion - on the basis of the examples shown here - to passing the ball in a pick n roll.

    • @mikestone2279
      @mikestone2279 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Make Humanity Great Again yeah imo Clarkson is trying to be the lead scorer. He constantly overlooks open teammates. Him and randle both have their game and their gonna play it regardless

      Agree , the Lakers D is great. It's good that they focused on it initially. It helps them keep the games close even against great teams.

      At Randle. He's supposed to turn around immediately and then you have a 4-on-3.

    • @jimmyok3874
      @jimmyok3874 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Laker Film Room
      I read that as Randall didn't have a clue n Zo still passed the ball in anticipation of what he thought Randall was going to do as opposed to him seeing what Randall was actually doing and that Randall had not yet turned to face him. Lonzo should have continued dragging the defenders backwards by not picking up his dribble until Julz had turned into postion.
      That was a turnover on Luke for not giving Lonzo n Julz enough playing minutes together. Zo n Julz were killing it and (minus the pop) could have ran that pick n roll Stockton n Malone style until the wheels fell off. Bucks had no answer for it on defense.

    • @i077
      @i077 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      You are a big man in a pick and roll, if the pass hit you and you couldn't catch it, it's your FAULT. Especially since the of is lonzo, you know the pass is coming.

    It felt like we were winning that game most of the way but we just let it slip through our fingers. Zo was clearly the best player on the court for The Lakers Saturday night. Luke probably should have played Tyler Ennis instead of Vander Blue.

    I know Kuzma has a great offensive game. But is it possible to do a comparison of where LNJ is missed on the defensive side. Far as reading plays, and assignments.

  • @stevesalinda5270
    @stevesalinda5270 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Expert analysis as always. I totally agree with your analysis that Randle should be getting a lot more minutes than Corey Brewer. Brewer is an energy guy off the bench but his mental miscues are negating his effectiveness. The pick and roll chemistry between Zo and Julz needs to be exploited game in game out...

    Randle keeps turning his back to the ball handler on pick and rolls. The one time he opens up to the ball handler, he pinned the guard... Is this a habit of randle's? Or was it just the few clips you showed of the short rolls?

      Well nvm I take that comment back, the dude scored 17 points on like 57% fg. He played well, but as a side note how come only 9 players played in the rotation for that game. Wtf is Walton doing, trying to cause injury?

  • @badazztj
    @badazztj 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Team needs to learn to play off-ball. Mainly Ingram, Clarkson, and Randle. Too many iso's and not enough ball movement. If we can't score in iso, the offense looks a hot mess. Just lucky we have Zo to create for others. What we playing now is not Warriors type of ball movement.
