I understand they grow a lot quicker most of the time, could give us an idea of what's to come for the gar and might also be a good dry run for you as well! Maybe you can catch some of the baby bass after the spawn? Love your content, man. I hope you're still feeding your fish and making videos when the gar are over five feet long.

@@MikesTek As I understand it, red-eared sliders brumate in the silt at the bottom of the pond when it gets really cold. One unusually harsh winter probably wouldn't cause them too much trouble.
The get very lethargic and go to deeper waters. They’ll go through a form of hibernation where they just hunker down and rest until it gets warmer. They also adapt to this by having a few membranes and tissues capable of taking in oxygen from the water as they don’t go up to get oxygen if it’s too cold. While it doesn’t provide as much oxygen as their normal ways of breathing, it provides them just the right amount needed to get them through the winter.
