Suuuper pretty look, Sophie. On having your guard up - I wouldn't be in a rush to lower it. You're only a few months past a big trauma, and it's totally appropriate to be protective of yourself. If it was years into the future, well past its use-by date then sure... but that's not where you are. Shock & reaction comes first, and when that passes, healing can take a wee while (with all of the reflection & over-thinking it brings!). I think we're encouraged to charge past it & get right back out there. But whether it's fast, slow or fluctuating, you can trust & honour YOUR timing. xx
hey sophie! i found your channel about a year ago & i loved all of your makeup videos & things like that, but your channel really has been such a comfort recently - i feel like i’m on a facetime with a friend, just hanging out & the like. obviously you don’t have to share personal things w your audience, or really anything about your life at all, but just listening to you talk about your life experiences & even simple things makes me feel less alone. just know that seeing a new video update from you always makes my day

I had a very similar experience to yours. Looking back, I am actually so grateful I did because thanks to the bad, I can truly appreciate the good in my current relationship and how kind and loving my partner is ♥️ I thought I would never trust anyone, felt so ugly and unworthy when I found out I was cheated on but over time, it got better. And when I met my current boyfriend, the fear was gone completely :) and I have never been happier. It will get better, even if it takes time! Love you! ♥️

You have every right to feel the way you feel considering it was such a long-term relationship that ended abruptly. I’m excited for what’s to come for you. Hi Sophie! This was such a sweet and honest video. I am a lot older than you are, and I can tell you these feelings will come but they will also go. Meaning, I used to have a horrible issue with trusting people. I mean how can we not, when we get hurt? But things sort of fall into place, and you realize life is just too short to be completely closed off. I’m still working on it, still working on myself. But I have made progress. And you’re an amazing young woman, you’ll get there. Also that eyeshadow on you is stunning. Sending you love. 💜

I pull my eyebrows out too. My eyelashes as well. It's a stress and anxiety coping mechanism. Mine's a form of OCD called trichotillomania (not sure if this is what you're experiencing as well, mine's been around since I was maybe 9). Your brows are FANTASTIC still 🤩 much love to you Sophie! x

I found someone who loves me for me now, and is wonderful. I think right now you have time to find yourself more, experience life, and do your own thing. When you've experienced life and love, I think it's the most normal thing to wish to be close to someone.
I think it's only a facade for them because, tbh, majority of them don't have much of "realness", true, close friendships etc.
Everything is so...rushed.
I'm obviously old school. Some may call me conservative, I'd like to think I'm not😁
I have just lived enough and gave 100% of myself to people- bigger percentage did deserve it, small one- not really. But we learn from our mistakes and those mistakes should make us smarter. And stronger. And more careful...
That's the thing younger generations haven't figured out yet.
I know it's quite a generalisation, but for majority of them, that is the reality.

Soph, your vulnerability and honesty with us and yourself is so touching! I have been where you are and two years later, still find parts of me that struggle. The imporant thing to remember is that not trusting people is just a protective mechanism. But you arent in danger, emotional or physical, anymore and learning to trust your intuition again over your fear is the first step toward healing. Baby steps! And I think its important to remember no one is perfect and people will inevitably hurt you (*this is not an endorsement of abuse ever but rather highlighting the difficulty of relationships in general*) in the future but its how they deal with hurting you that matters - rupture and repair are the key to life. You got this! Life is tough but so are you

It sounds like the dilemma you may have is to Protect yourself or to be open. Either to totally trust or not to trust. Maybe there is a middle ground. To allow someone to build on a relationship that makes you feel confident that this person is right for you to allow to be close to you. I think self care may be setting certain boundaries doesn’t make you a bad or closed person, just making choices informed by life experiences. It sounds like you want to feel emotionally safe and that shows great emotional intelligence and resilience x You can still be open and yourself but protective of your emotional well-being, I don’t think it has to be either or, you could consciously choose both. I’m certain you are the expert on what you want and need and you’ll decide what’s right for you and your happiness. You are clearly a wise woman thinking all these complex emotional issues through. I've been learning how to do those things again. It's really hard actually and I don't even believe when plp genuinely say things they actually mean or feel. Theres always something in the back of mind saying "this person is lying". I feel so guilty when my insecurities slip out because it wasn't even my fault that I feel this way. Some plp end up getting away with hurting plp and that makes me sad. 😞
