One of my favorite John McCain quote is “ after I lost the 2008 election, I slept like a baby. I slept for 2 hours and woke and cried for 20 minutes, then I would sleep for 2 more hours and then wake up and cry for. 20 minutes again”.

@@joeycurry8700 bro he brought unemployment down, I know you guys hate to admit it but the affordable care act is a good thing and continues to help people, consumer protection act, marriage equality, improved the economy, I could keep going but those are major ones. I know you guys have this strange revisionist history that Trump somehow fixed the economy in under a year in 2016 but he didn't he inherited a good economy from Obama. Which didn't start going down until covid and did not start improving until Biden came in. These are all facts and you can look them up and Id be happy to provide you sources for anything also. Things were "better under trump" soleley because of the prior administration (democrats). I get you guys just want to hate anyone not republican but you need to realize thats why you guys fail at winning over the people when you need to. Thats usually why you guys lose control of the house and senate 2 years into whatever term you guys take the presidency. You don't want to work together you want to live in echo chambers that just tell you what you want to hear.

This was thrilling to watch, even 16 years later! I was 18 at the time when Obama was elected, and I voted for him, but I wasn't very politically engaged, so I didn't pay much attention on election night. Now I regret that I didn't pay closer attention to this historic moment. I'm a total political junkie now, and I have to say, I can't even begin to imagine a Democrat (or a Republican, for that matter) winning by such huge margins in the electoral college, Senate, and House in today's deeply polarized environment.

Two wars, Guantanamo bay, Katrina,in addition to millions losing their jobs left people wanting something different. People were so tired of Bush.

The county of Gwinett in the suburbs of Atlanta shows this evolution in 2008 Obama made 44%, same score in 2012, Hillary Clinton obtained 50.20% of the votes in 2016... In 2020 Biden obtained 58.40%, Georges Bush in 2004 Republican candidate it was 65.66% in this county.
