A very good spear fishing video from New Zealand. Great footage thanks Dan - a great stone shot on the cuda and excellent ambush hunting around and under the bommies - I hear those mu are not easy to spear and you smashed it!
Next level spearfishing! Interested to know what band/shaft setup was used. Looks smooth. Also note you're using an o-ring. Do you still tune the flopper?
Single 16mm rubber. 7mm of our Mini finned stainless shafts, They have low profile flopper and fins are recessed down in shaft. Yes the O-rings are nice to use, makes line of sight better and also believe improves accuracy.
Very similar to fish limits in New Zealand also. There are closures on species there like Coral trout during certain times of year. But otherwise can't comment on fish limits.
No hard to tell but may be small Coastal trevally (have varying names, latin name Carangoides chrysophrys). They are flopper rings to keep flopper stream line for lower profile view and better accuracy, they roll off with water pressure when firing.
Solid drops! great watch
Awesome stuff.

@@WettieNZ do you need to tune the flopper or is this not required when using the o-ring?
Nice session. Curious to know, in South Africa the total bag limit is 10 pppd, with limits on species as well. What are limits in Fiji?

Nice footage! What the second shark species besides the white-tipped reef shark?
A species of Whaler. Similar to our Bronze whalers we have in NZ.
@@WettieNZ Thanks!
African pompano @ 0:55? What's wrapped around the shaft/flopper @ 5:10 ?

Any suggestions for chasing doggies South side of Fiji?
Worth Doing some research on some charters out of the south side, maybe try get out to Kadavu or Vetulele.
