Due to suction at suction end of the pump, liquid goes inside it. The suction end pressure is kept lower than atmospheric pressure. The boiling point of water depends on pressure i.e. with reduction in pressure, the boiling point also reduces. The pressure at which water will start boiling at particular temperature is called as saturation pressure. In case the pressure at suction end falls below the saturation pressure of the temperature of water then , the water will start boiling and cavitation will commence. NPSH is a concept which is required to reduce the cavitation problem of the pump. In this lecture the following things can be learnt easily
    a) Why cavitation occurs in pump and how it damages it
    b) Significance of net positive suction head to reduce cavitation

Centrifugal pump can't create vacuum, it's centrifugal pumps demarit,
We need to provide a primer to create vacuum between water level and inlet of pump is there is negative water pressure.

Please one important question for clarity,
I thought Suction Head = P1/specific weight plus the velocity head therefore in the final equation you'd have Pa/specific weight - gravity head - head loss - vapour head.... So basically the last formula you have but without the velocity head at suction. Please clarify... please
