  • Eclaire but Lattafa has gone viral for being a dupe for Bianco Latte. Today I discuss both, what are the similarities and differences and whether I think you should purchase...I also go on a bit of a rant! I'm not sure what got into my bonnet but I was a bit riled up!!

    Thanks for an honest and reliable opinion! I hate it when influencers say that the dupe is a spot on copy of the original, when it clearly isn't. I agree that dupes, in my small experience, lack the depth and generally smell cheaper, because they are...

      I've tried many many dupes and the only ones I'd consider spot on are Club De Nuit Imperiale (for Delina Exclusif) and Delilah by Maison Alhambra (for Delina) and only after I tested them myself, side by side under different circumstances, would I call them 1 for 1, spot on dupes.
      They definitely are!!

      @@anaisabelzepeda8410they’re not supposed to smell exactly like the original niche fragrance! There is an obvious difference in their price for that reason. If you want the exact scent just buy the original, but if you want a scent profile with that vibe and are not willing to spend so much money for it you can go for the dupes which has the same vibe and much cheaper. I personally won’t spend so much money only to smell like toffees and biscuits!! I like a niche fragrance when you can’t exactly point out what does it smell like but you enjoy the scent and the quality.

    I have both Bianco Latte and Eclaire and they smell IDENTICAL. I don't smell any floral in the Eclaire. It's milky, caramel, chocolaty...a true groumond. Its exactly like Bianco Latte full stop. The longevity in the Eclaire is also similar to Bianco Latte, 10 hours plus. Yes, it's nice to own the original however if your short on cash, Eclaire will be the perfect option.

    Whenever I buy a dupe perfume I don't expect it to smell exactly the same as the original. I expect it to smell similar to it and to have the same vibe. Expecting an exact replica of the original is just silly. If I want to have a perfume that has a certain vibe and smells in a certain way, but I simply can not afford 200-500$ price tag of that perfume, I will buy a clone. If you really like an original perfume, no clone will be like it, so in those cases, I would certainly buy the real thing. And also, every perfume changes over time, middle eastern, niche, designer... the problem with middle eastern is that they are putting them out on the market as soon as they are produced. I am sure this one will be more similar to Bianco Latte in a couple of months, but certainly never spot on.

    • @mariacollettlife

      I totally agree with you. I think most dupes are just likenesses and that’s totally OK with me. I just don’t like when they’re presented as being identical because then people can be disappointed by them but if you realize they’re just similar vibes, then you can enjoy them for what they are! 😀💕

    • @mishellame
      @mishellame 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@mariacollettlife I completely agree... but also, for some people, who can't tell the small differences between notes, they will smell the same... 🤷‍♂ I appreciate someone saying, they are not the same, but they have the similar vibe so, as you said, people can enjoy them for what they are 😄

  • @Lianeswt120
    @Lianeswt120 27 วันที่ผ่านมา +14

    To me it depends on the fragrance. If there’s a perfume I’d like to have but I’m unwilling to pay the price, I think a “dupe” or inspiration for far less is a great option. I have a good mix of niche, designer, and affordable inspirations. I’m usually looking at a vibe rather than all the tiny nuances. When I test perfumes I only smell “on skin in the air” rather than sniffing up close because I feel like in the air is the most realistic. So if it smells good in the air or sillage I’m ok with it being a dupe or whatever.

  • @Ronbug4444
    @Ronbug4444 27 วันที่ผ่านมา +14

    I agree that fragrances are not true copies of others, but a few fragrances that I've heard were clones or dupes were actually released before the 'original'. I like watching the fragrance videos just to get an idea what something smells like and if the notes appeal to me. I want something because it smells good, not because it's supposed to smell like something else. Thank you for keeping it real. I enjoy your videos and would be interested to see you and Val do one on ME fragrances that are similar to discontinued ones. (Sacrifice For Her/original Alien)

    If it’s an Emir, you might not like the Byredo.
    If it’s a Giardini do Toscana, you might not like the Lattafa.
    Best to wear-test and purchase your true love- saving up if necessary.

I have the original Bianco latte and I wanted to wear the scent profile more often since caramel cascade was so inexpensive. Eclaire is currently $39 US, plus shipping. If I were going to buy one & I wasn’t head over heels in love with Bianco Latte, I’m going for the dupe at that price. However, if I was a diehard Bianco Latte lover, I would absolutely pay the extra for the original. I have fragrances in my collection that have dupes available for a lower price, but I just know I wouldn’t be satisfied without the real thing. Conversely, I have a couple of dupes that I love because I don’t have that emotional connection to the originals. I love that there are so many dupe houses now, so people can smell amazing while saving some money. But I also think that if you truly love the original, you should get the original if you can afford it. Otherwise you could end up chasing dupe after dupe trying to get the feeling that you get from the original. I hope that all made sense. Late night rambling 😂

    I love wearing replicas because it gives me a wearing experience. If I like the experience, I will buy the original when I finish the bottle. I prefer to keep my niche collection lean because I can’t justify a large niche collection but I love having a broad range of experiences that replicas offers.
    Here in Australia it is not easy to get decants of BL so a replica option that is affordable is awesome. I have Eclaire and am enjoying the experience so far 🥰

    I’m not sure if I’ll buy either. I have enough perfumes as is. If I were to buy one, it would be the Lattafa. At this time, I don’t like powdery perfumes.
    I am so glad that you mentioned that we need to spend our money on what we want to spend our money on. I was perfume shamed by a follower on a different channel. If I would have been quick witted enough, I would have asked the “shamer” to Venmo me some money so I could buy expensive perfumes.😆
    I loved the advice you gave another commenter. You told them to love the dupe for itself and not compare it to the original.
    At this time, the majority of my perfume collection is from Lattafa. I don’t know if they’re dupes. I think some are, but I’m not sure. The ones I have smell good to me. Yes, I’m judging them for themselves.
    Today, I’m wearing Lattafa’s Bade’e Al Oud Honor and Glory. Pineapple and crème brûlée.❤️

Thank you for the comparison and deep dive. My thoughts are similar to yours, if I adore a fragrance I will save for the legit scent (yeah what’s up with designer cost these days?!) but if I’m like I like this but don’t love it and the inspired by is much less then I’ll go that route

Personally, I LOVE Middle Eastern perfumes because, as you said, anyone can smell good at any budget (or something to that effect! LOL!) I used to exclusively wear designer fragrances but for a fraction of the price I can play around with so many different scents. This is a very good point, if you're experienced, you will notice differences that may matter. I feel that way with Theirry Mugler angel and the dupes. I've tried so many dupes of that fragrance in my lifetime, and none of them quite capture the thickness of the original or the dry down. The original has a very specific sweetness and a very specific patchouli that, just can't be recreated. I always notice it when I try any dupe. Nothing will ever be quite as good for me as the real thing is.

      I'd be careful listening to younger influencers. I've been duped Soo many times bc of their lack of experience. They weren't around in the 90s when everything was good and dense. After 2001 everything was reformulated bc FDA removed and banned alot of ingredients changing the longevity in perfumes forever. They dont know what's good from lack of experience. They think body sprays are strong. They compare things wrong bc they weren't around when original formulas existed and on and on. I had to stop watching young influencers bc they aren't educated enuff. I'm 44. I watch people my age or older

    I totally agree that the way it’s presented as an exact dupe should be addressed. And I love your reviews….honesty is refreshing!! For many people who would never purchase a $200 perfume, these dupes give them access to some of the niche scents that are different than basic. designer. If you can afford the more expensive perfumes and set a budget for that- then get original. I have original and dupes. Some dupes I like better than original. But keep up the reviews!! It really depends on the scent profile for me. If it’s something mass appealing that’s going to be an easy grab I don’t mind a dupe or close relative. I really had a hard time even trying Arabian fragrances because of the massive bottles but if you wait past the hype you can get them for $15-$25 a bottle so that’s when I will try something. Then there’s the experience! So I was on a student trip and I wanted to go home with something special I found a Jo Malone right next to a Diptyque and I chose Diptyque because it was a new house to me. I tell you those ladies treated me with dignity and respect and let me get my nose on so many in the small amount of time I had but I knew I was going home with something so I got the smallest 50 ml they sold and they wrapped it up beautifully and I was surprised to have two samples included when I opened my bag up later. Both ones I hadn’t gotten to smell while I was there. And you know what? I have a beautiful, well balanced fragrance unlike anything in my collection, it’s close but it is better. And I have some powerful samples that will last quite a few wears.

Lattafa has changed a lot in the last couple of years. I almost prefer the original Arabic smells that were suoer cheap, original and long lasting, rather than the more expensive dupes -though I know they're not all dupes - Their prices are getting higher and higher and yes - It's worth saving up and geting the real thing.
