Thanks to everybody for +1000 views! I made this video just for fun and did not expect such audience.
Good job💪 thanks
You hit on the problem of not having a single remote to control everything. It's essential you connect the TV via HDMI ARC/eARC if you want to have a single remote controlling everything. (Go research what ARC and eARC are for.) And then, I'd suggest you use Samsung's "universal" remote as the name suggests, a single controller to manage everything (as that's what it's designed for).
I have Sony X90j which has EARC output, hope this soundbar can get it dolby atmos in with HDMI 2.0
What settings do you use? I have a q800c and I hear no sound separation or atmos at all, ever! I am not sure if I never calibrated it properly from day 1, or if my settings are wrong, but I am not pleased by the channel separation of the speaker. Considering to upgrade to the q930c
I think that a lot of credit for Dolby Atmos effect and sound separation goes to the rear speakers which you do not have with q800c. If you can, I will upgrade to q930c.
Thank you for mentioning Atmos music.
I'm planning to buy this soundbar in a few months and have already purchased the Apple TV 4K just to ensure that when it arrives, I can play my songs this way.
Do you have anything else to say about it? I'd love to hear.
Oh I have plenty :-). As mentioned already in this comment section, in one of my next videos, I will for sure show you the testing of the loss vs. lossless Dolby Atmos and the results.
@@VersaVistaProduction thank you. Also, if you had the chance to compare this model to the 990C, I would like to know your thoughts. I'm between them.
@@alef3356 That comparison did not and will not happen, I am afraid. Unless Samsung borrows me 990C for a review 😁
I’m not sure why you can’t control the soundbar with one remote. I just helped a friend set up his. He has connected with the supplied hdmi into the arc input. The tv remote worked as well as the cable box remote.
It is not an issue to set one remote to control the basic functions of all devices, but rather that due to the minimalistic design of remotes, there are simply no physical buttons with which I can control some specific options (for example, that Info button for the soundbar).
The lack of 2.1 HDMI should result only in 4k above 60hz video limitation. It should not however restrict the audio in any way. The Fire stick can be a problem though. Great video.
Beat me to it. HDMI EARC is not the same as HDMI 2.1 they are different and serve different functions. If you go direct through the soundbar you are getting the most compatibility and usually the least amount of latency. Idk why but I’ve seen a lot of tech channels make this incorrect statement when I did my research I found out that ALOT of people offer information when they don’t actually quite understand the specifics and then spread confusion. Tbf info on this stuff is scarce and companies DO NOT like talking about their technology and all lol.
So, if I understood you both correctly, the content from the Amazon Firestick is in any case in lossy/compressed Dolby Atmos, so doesn't matter which connection I use. However, if I am about to connect a Blu-ray player directly to the soundbar via HDMI 2.0, and play the content with TrueHD Dolby Atmos (lossless/uncompressed), I will be able to get it? The only thing I will not be able to get is concerning the picture quality (i.e. >4k, >60Hz)?
@@VersaVistaProductionExactly, the Firestick is listed as Atmos (ec3-joc) capable, so I don't think there is a way to feed TrueHD Atmos to the soundbar in your case. Both the stick and the arc on the TV are bottlenecks.
So what streaming sticks do stream full Dolby Atmos?
@@jay_b.. So pretty much no streaming service does completely lossless Dolby atmos. They all do Dolby digital plus which is limited to 5.1 channels but does give a compressed atmos. Heard nvidia shield pro does tho but very few do
As people have noted true HD and dts x both lossless proper audio so streaming stick useless use either bluray player or zidoo plugged direct to soundbar of course shield can do lossless but other options way better
What is the app called? I can't seem to find it
Which app? Samsung Smart things?
@@VersaVistaProduction The app thar controls the sound bar? I just recently purchased the sound bar and had no idea there was an app to control the sound bar.
@@glassman204Samsung Smart things....
A giudicare dall’accento ho pensato che tu fossi slavo ahaha
Ha ha, it took me 3 deleted comments to finally grasp the stupid TH-cam UX behavior, deleting comments with URLs without any notification. (this could be a setting on the user's side as well, IDK). This time in plain text, no links :)
1. Download atmos demo files from demolandia, m2ts files with both lossy & lossless atmos. Mediainfo soft can tell you what's inside.
2. Play them through VLC player on laptop/PC, set the audio output to HDMI passthrough and device - your TV/Soundbar. Connect to HDMI_in on the q930c. The cable can be any quality 2.0 one.
3. FInd the differences and post a video. :)
YT should hire a UX designer >:(
Sure, such video is a work in progress. And not only to test the differences in codecs but also in different media players (TV, Firestick, USB stick, Xbox One). It's just that currently my weekly schedule is terrible and does not allow me to spend more quality time on this. But soon 🙂 Spoiler alert: there are some interesting observations/results for sure
You get no advantage by plugging your Firestick to your soundbar as it is not capable of delivering lossless Dolby Atmos via Dolby TrueHD. If you plug into your soundbar a streaming device that is capable of doing it (Nvidia Shield TV Pro) then it is worth it.
You are making a confusion regarding trasnmitting sound capabilities via HDMI 2.0/2.1. It is related to video: HDMI 2.0 can't passthrough 4k 120Hz video while HDMI 2.1 can. It is not related to sound, as you even can get HDMI eARC via HDMI 2.0
If you want to get rid of Firestick remote you can plug the Firestick directly into your TV and enable HDMI CEC. As you already stated you will still get lossy Dolby Atmos through HDMI ARC, via Dolby Digital +
Is the Roku 4k capable of delivering Dolby TrueHD?
@@jay_b.. No, as far as I know only Nvidia Shield Pro is capable of delivering lossless audio via Dolby TrueHD
@@MihaiRaducan But wouldn't that mean that you somehow need to get ripped version of the movie? Because no streaming service (Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.) is currently offering lossless Dolby Atmos...
@@VersaVistaProduction Correct, no streaming service is delivering lossless Dolby Atmos at this moment. So you need BD rips and a Plex server and client both capable of supporting Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Atmos.
As far as I know not even Tidal is offering audio tracks with lossless Dolby Atmos
@@MihaiRaducan I understood the same. Before investing further in anything, I will try to get back my Xbox One S (to be used as a bluray player), and I will buy some bluray movie with TrueHD Dolby Atmos to check whether this will result in some additional mind-blowing sound experience 🙂
