    I just lucked out into a $999. buy for this mower. Brand new at Home Depot. 4x 40 volt 12 AH batt and 3 suitcase 80 volt batteries. what a deal! They were clearing out 2 of them in inventory.

    I've had mine for about 3 weeks and driving this thing has a learning curve. One thing about it, after using that joystick for a couple of hours, your right arm is going to look like Popeye and feel like a teenage boy who just discovered adult content on the web.
    It takes me literally half the time to mow as my John Deere E130 and I use low speed, low blade speed. Also, like you said, the deck is super tough. I accidentally hit my brick steps and broke 2 bricks. The deck has a scratch.

      I have snapped 2 sets of blades, bent drive wheels on various items. The joy stick slams you into unexpected rocks. Not good on hills. Very top heavy and slides. No wheel torque. I mainly use to pull carts and trailers. Can’t bag leaves very well.

    • @jimmtech
      @jimmtech ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bethelle9099 I first heard about this on March 8th - Home Depot decided to get rid of all riding mowers in-store, less than 80V, so there were a lot of Ryobi mowers including some zero-turns and also some Cub Cadets and John Deeres, but mostly Ryobi's. I was able to find one at a Home Depot for $500 - it was the 48V version that has nicad batteries(original retail was $3999, then sale priced at $2499). Virtually all of Home Depot's in-store stock was wiped out within 2 or 3 days - there were some stragglers that lasted for another couple weeks - these same mowers are still available online but at full price. ($2500-$8000). Home Depot wanted to make way for new mowers like 80V. For a while Facebook marketplace was flooded with these mowers. You still may find some good buys on Facebook marketplace because a lot of people bought several for resale but were not able to move them. At this point if you're shopping Home Depot in store you will be hard pressed to find a riding mower less than 80V or a riding mower that is nicad. Bargain hunters monitor deals by the minute, and if you don't act fast, deals disappear fast. Most deal hunters avidly follow: DT6, DOT, SD and BS.

    Clint is retiring his Cub Cadet. My father-in-law has several old Cub Cadets (late '60 thru the mid 70's, some were his dad's) and one newer Cub Cadet 2017. I have one old Cub Cadet (1971) and one 2018 Cub Cadet GT2000 with the 54" commercial deck. Hard to even think of moving those to electric. Admittedly I have moved my other yard equipment; string trimmer, blower, edger, etc. to dual 18V (36v) Makita and I do love them. Interested to watch and hear the ongoing review of the electric mower.

    Just wait, I have 19 hours on mine and already had to replace one of the lager batteries. Ryobi was very easy to work with and shipped me a new one. Now it still will not charge 100 percent. Even on low speed for blades and speed, it won't cut 5 acres. More like 3. I am crossing my fingers that I don't have anymore battery issues. I am not the first to report this problem. Let's not forget this 54 inch cost $7,000. That's a lot to have problems right out of the box.

      It is true. I was also over the moon to get my new and very expensive mower. It wiped around the lawn and was so much fun to drive. Power galore. 3 years later - it now need 5 or 6 recharges to do the lawn. Yesterday the charge lasted about 5 minutes and even the slightest incline - forget it. That is a whole lot of money and in 5 years those batteries are going to be shot and you may or may not be able to replace them for a small fortune. If they even last that long. Battery tech sucks without a major leap forward in battery tech stuff like this is going to keep being a waste of money. For what you pay for this thing you are far better off just paying a lawncare service.

    • @soonerbred22
      @soonerbred22 ปีที่แล้ว

      batteries are about 900. you'll be spending penni's to charge them next to nothing in maintenance for those five years. so, yea there's a small trade off. depending on how much you use and how much fuel prices are and the cost of 12v batteries for a gas mower

  • @jasonmax5759

    People getting lazier and lazier. I remember when people cut their grass with a push blade. Then push mower, then normal riding mowers, then zero turns and now they don’t even wanna pour gas. Going electric zero turn😅 What’s next? A zero turn electric bed mower? 😂

    3 80V batterys cost $2700. 4 40V 12 AH batterys will cost you $1600. THEY ONLY HAVE A LIFESPAN OF 5 YEARS. So that's $860 a year just for those batterys (not including charging price from the coal plant down the street). This wouldn't be worth it for a rider in my situation. Along with a lot of other people.
    I know there's enthusiast out there. Just have fun paying $4300 for batterys every 5 years.

    • @ToolReviewZone
      @ToolReviewZone  ปีที่แล้ว

      The 40v just give it a bit more run time. And if your 80v runs dry, pop in a new 40v to get it up on the trailer 👊

    Great but Ryobi's support is so trash that I cannot justify the price... i'm currently sitting on 48V 100mah ride on brick that Ryobi won't even respond to me or acknowledge that i have a problem.... probably because i'm close to being out of warranty :/. Love the tractor but they cannot be trusted with a 7-8k investment.

  • @lewis2553

    I bought 54" and a 42" for $779 and $642, respectively. I took my brother down there, and he bought a 42" in between my two purchases. His switch was locked up. Ryobi sent him another one. My screen doesn't work on the 54, and the switch seems to be intermittent. My 42 had a bad motor on the left side that seems to have damaged the motor control module, too. The motor on the other side has gone bad, too, now, and only runs in one direction. Something's loose inside it. Both motors had evidence of water damage, like maybe they had been partly submerged in flood water. Ryobi is sending replacement parts, but they're a pain in the butt to install. There's a 5 year warranty. I still think it's a good deal.

    Mine cuts the blade off after twenty minutes. Also on a slope this thing slides a lot. Fun carnival ride just hang on. Also when power cuts off, it throws you while beeping loudly. Mine is two years old but very much a big disappointment.

    WOW $7000 for a riding lawn mower no thanks i stay with gas mowers. shit i can get pretty nice gas riding mower for $2000-$3000. don't get me wrong that mower look pretty sweet but not for $7000 shit if that mower was $5000 i still wouldn't buy it . battery mowers prices need to go way down it to much money. probably shouldn't cut your grass till you got this mower cuz right now grass dont need grass cutting not showing us much with very low grass just saying

    Dude...I can't. There is a line my balls just won't allow me to cross.
    Power tools, sure, they are all battery. BUT...early in life they were all corded. So that was just a transition from electric to electric. But when it comes to things that you drive...well, I was a gearhead long before I became a...home improvement...head (whatever). When we start talking about me putting my ASS on something that is battery powered...that starts to wreak of Prius.
    I am sorry, but I just could not live with myself if I did anything to make the Climate Claims whackadoodles approve. If I were to spend that much on a mower, that would be me swapping the motor out on my John Deere for a Cummings Diesel, or something.
    There are lines, bro.

      Nobody really gives a crap with the climate change idiots think.
      You're saving money on gas, oil, maintenance. Saving your time on maintenance.
      Not breathing the fumes.
      Can hear yourself think, have a conversation.
      Those are all the benefits for my Ryobi self propelled cross cut push mower.
      If this machine didn't cost $7,000 I'd already be buying one.
      Now if you were on this cutting your grass and drinking a Bud Light they definitely will think you've switched to their side.
      Some things are just NO.
