@@NoLuckTrucking I love the fact that I’m in control of finding the loads that work for me and my schedule . I would like for Landstar to increase the percentage to the driver, but that will probably never happen.

You should make an entire video on the "no forced dispatch" fallacy, I think it would be interesting and informative to understand precisely how they (prime) go about badgering and cajoling a lease operator to take a load and then wash their hands of it at the first sign of adversity. You were either sleeping or driving and then the other was sleeping. Well, sleeping....... TRY to sleep, we felt tired all the time. We decided we did not want to live like that and became "super-single" as they called it in our company. Spent the next 12 years together there on the road. greetings from Canada. Hearing you talk about how Prime is having a hard time moving all of their booked freight is interesting.
I've had my Class A for 10 years, have been using it to earn a living the whole time. Pretty much spotless MVR with zero commercial tickets.
I've been trying to lease on with Prime for weeks now. It's the weirdest thing.. The recruiter I was assigned seemed completely disinterested in bringing me on board. After playing phone tag for a couple weeks.. I was finally able to get ahold of her, at which time she did her best to TALK ME OUT OF moving ahead with any sort of on-boarding protocol. What finally got me to move on with my search was when she told me that I'd still have to complete the 40k mi new CDL driver training, even though I have the better part of a decade and many many miles worth of experience. That sure is a strange way to move more freight. 🤔

Crimes business model is to use students and keep the revolving door spinning as fast as they can. Put them on a trainer's truck and run them as a team truck for cheap they know they can't leave for the first year no experience can't get hired anywhere else and they owe 4 grand for the training. They work you for cheap for a year or two and don't care if you quit. You leave Monday morning you're replaced by Monday afternoon. This mega carrier is key in keeping rates low in the industry. Their sales department has it easy booking loads for prime at under $2 a mile. Makes it hard for true owner op and small companies to compete they're all about cheap labor hauling cheap freight

I would not work for any company that treats a non-employee like an employee. Thats a red flag that shows they are just using you to avoid employee expenses. You are also a team operator so you should not have issues paying even an expensive lease like Prime. But for a solo it is not just a matter of hard work because it can go south real fast if you have any revenue issues with the amount of fixed costs you have there.

  • @dennisumphrey1284

I believe in the near future lease driver's options will be phased out as they are doing in California the tax revenues for the state are giving the large trucking companies such as Prime a advantage toward tax obligations when truckers cannot afford to keep their equipment profitable. The California law makers passed a law that phases out lease owner operators period for that reason.

Do y'all have any idea how badly you're breaking Eric's heart at Driver Lineup? I'm positive he's crushed, not just about y'all leaving Prime, inc., but that you've revealed the things most already knew about the way they operate in the industry. I'm especially pleased that y'all didn't go "All Prime All the Time" as Eric does. It's misleading and ingenuine when all one has to do is follow a few cats that pull for Landstar to see that no dispatch load boards are a more free way to run your own operation. Hopefully, he'll see it soon before he ends up regretting it, but I doubt it. Just sayin. Congrats to y'all for seeing things for what they truly are. Keep spreading the real word! Landstar accepts an open market load for 1000 dollars and then puts it on their load board for 800 dollars and then takes 35% from the 800 so like I said you will make a profit but you would do much much better going to work for outfits that show you every broker load contract and not a made up company contract with some taken off the top of each load .

I'm not an over the road trucker, in fact I'm retired, but I did drive professionally with a class a cdl for many years. I sympathize with you and your wife as a team, but I also understand the position of Prime, they just want drivers who get the job done with as little drama as possible. The costumer in the long run is more important, they want people who are hungry and are $ motivated. So it was just time for a parting of the ways.

I would like to think we did a good job showing both sides, our situation went down hill really fast. One day it was good, and then we got some off the wall messages and called in and got some disrespectful conversation on the phone. It’s difficult for some because the problems are caused by one person at prime and not generally a reflection of the company entirely, or they don’t want to risk losing their job for blasting their company.
