Ninja will love this! The bass player is awesome, and I recognize the drumming. I was concerned that you and Matt were going to lose your heads!! Have a great weekend 🎶 Cyd
That playful syncopation from the guitars coming out of the breakdown section into the lovely little chill passage with the light vocal is #ChefsKiss imho. Love it. Between this & the other single (which I also very much enjoy- I don't need, or want, every song to be fast & furious), I'm looking forward to buying the album. :) Given that Peter & Chris both went to Berklee's Valencia campus (& thus met Jorge there) to do their jazz-leaning Masters, I'm guessing they both have plenty of melodic, harmonic, & rhythmic, chops to take us down all sorts of interesting musical paths. It can be super satisfying when accomplished jazzers let their heavier influences come thru! ;)
Really enjoyed your reaction to this fantastic track from The Cost! Have you checked out their others, Her Eyes featuring Serj Tankian from SOAD and their latest Rogue. This band is AWESOME!
Thank you kindly for the nice comment!! We haven't seen Rogue (thanks for the heads up), but have covered "Her Eyes" (here's the link when you have time: th-cam.com/video/roa0W1tM7nE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Z3jPg3-fzKGynv5j).
They are all extremely talented, but it sounds very disjoined. It doesn't sound like a song, but just 3 people playing instruments separately over each other. I give it a 5/10; Everyone gets full points for instrumentation, but the song as a whole gets a zero, so I'll average it out to 5 overall.

How are they going to follow up after two straight killer tracks like this? How can they possibly make anything better?

It sounds out of sync for sure
