My experience with desert walking was in the Palm Springs/Desert Hot Springs area decades ago before it was developed to the level it is now. I found bones and saw glorious cactus blooming bright colors in the stark scrub brush. Lizards skittering about startled me before I grinned broadly at the elements of nature.
The Owyhees are home to such a vast array of wildlife and plants; where many see only emptiness others find much beauty. Thank you for sharing this video - I hope there will be more about the ODT!
Hi Ellen, I like to wear tall gaiters when there is bushwacking, but there aren't too many bugs to speak of most of the year. We have a full guidebook, mapset, gps data and more. You can find everything on our website at www.onda.org/OregonDesertTrail - Renee
I'm glad she's the first special Virgin hiker to conquer this feat, but she should have some babies to ultimately serve her purpose as a women in a mortal world
Hiking adventures are absolutely life changing. Gives you a whole new outlook on the life and the simplicity of happiness.
Thank you for making this available on TH-cam showing the rugged beauty of the desert.
More to come. It's #oregondesertweek on @OPB. We'll be rolling out more desert videos every day this week.

More to come. Check back here often for more outdoor recreation and, this week, more desert stories.

Beautiful place!
That was outstanding.
Amazing!
Wonderful.
I own property in beatty Oregon. About 1.1 miles from that trail. It's kinda hard to find information about that whole area down there.
Skort is suitable for trails with bugs? Do you use GPS to get general directions?
