Nice to see their change of additude. From nonchalant and full of self-esteem into humble and full of appreciation for the beatles actual obvious quality... Never liked the Kaiser Chiefs, but i DO appreciate their willingnes and enthousiasm to take the callenge and make this cover work. Nice.
i think it's brilliant and i enjoyed watching it. whoever would come on here and dog it can bugger off. it's interesting watching kaiser chiefs(a great band) do what the greatest band did.
aww wow i remember watching this- it was gr8 and there were other bands. fantastic effort from the kaisers, any of the beatles songs r incredibly difficult 2 cover but they did a gr8 job- i hav the sgt. pepper album cover and it sounds amazing C: kaiser cheifs rule and nick hodgeson looks superhot! since u'r his brother and put this up u'r cool 2! thanx alot 4 puttin this up! xxxxxxx
Everything my band records we record on four track, because the limitations of the technology mean that you have to plan ahead more and just get things RIGHT more or less the first time. Many of the things you do you can't go back and undo or edit the hell out of like you can with Pro Tools. You can't send twenty different mics to twenty different tracks, and you can't edit a dozen different takes together. Yeah, it's harder, but it actually ends up bringing the best out of the band.
What studio is this? It has all the right Abbey Road gear (including Geoff Emerick), but it's not Studio 2 at EMI. I think I even heard some Fairchild compression on the cymbals.
i agree... but those two bands have been around a little longer. I bet Kaiser Chiefs might be really good in about 10 years when they're not popular anymore. :)
I mean, it's only been 8 years, but you're right. They're so good. Although, to be fair, they were always good, it's just that The Beatles' style was so unique that seemingly no-one can cover it properly.
Was the drummer rushing the tempo or was it intentional? In spite of the old machines and Geoff Emerick (RIP), it just seems hollow and contrived. Nice attempt, but....
ben are brother to nick from the band. and does he still live leeds i herd he lives not all that far from way i live. i am not going say way abouts in case crazy fans. i not saying their all crazy but you know what i mean. ps. kaiser chiefs are the best band in the world.
@TheSevenDeadlySins1 The Kaiser Chiefs revived British Rock? What planet are you living on?! A couple of 2 bit pop songs and the thinnest fat front man alive do not a good band make.
Simply wonderful!
thanks for uploading! probably the most serious interview/video I've seen of the kaiser chiefs.
Actually the KAISER CHIEFS are freaking awesome!! And no one plays a crowd as good as Ricky.
Doing what is really hard and sticking to it is how you get better.
great entertaining video....love the beatles and Kaiser Chiefs
I love this cover
I'd love to have seen the two hours where the cameras were turned off. You would have seen a band that suddenly realised it was sink or swim time.
lovely, thanks for this
awesome, thanks so much for this

Oh it's great, they sound amazing.
Brilliant!

The song stands the test of time....just like most of the songs recorded by the best band that ever was.
That is so cool!
I love the beatles and Kaiser cheifs so its cool they did this.
The Kaiser Chiefs are indeed getting better.
5:03 looks like he is in a rest home talking about the war
Very nice and intresting vid to see!
Really cool!

I love how they set up all those keyboards and they don't use a single one.
i love you Ricky¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ Kaiser chiefs is the best band around the world¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ :)
They didn't know it would be (or that Sgt. Pepper was recorded on) 4-track?
I'm too damn old. But that is music history factoid 101.
Well their take on the song certainly did keep getting better, the final version is not bad at all.
The song was pretty relevant to their recording.
you are very good at predicting a riot, don't get better
this aged like fine wine.....from lidl
Dear nuttysolos,
Yes I did shoot this and if you watched the BBC transmission you would see my name credited at the end of it.
The Redd 47 desk: is the the one from Italy or have they located the one they had at Abbey Road in the 60ies?
where can i get the full coverage of this event?
was it aired somewhere sometime?
What studio is this? It has all the right Abbey Road gear (including Geoff Emerick), but it's not Studio 2 at EMI. I think I even heard some Fairchild compression on the cymbals.
omg, I just noticed, camera: Ben HODGSON :)
Is there a whole program anywhere .
It's not so hot in Canada either matey
what studio is it?
Not Abbey road.
A BBC studio?
As a grown up man, allowing yourself to sing beatles as good is you can, must feel a bit like dropping your pants for a doctor.
Keep practicing boys.Maybe one day ...
i think it was on in the uk only dunno
The 15 first seconds seem to be a let it be film reference
there digital musician. meet analog.... with efforts they make it nice.....

damn ricky's voice is lik paul's.
After watching this I didn't imagine someone would have the guts to say that nonsense
yep he looks it
they had to ask to stop filming! hahaha
Was the drummer rushing the tempo or was it intentional?
In spite of the old machines and Geoff Emerick (RIP), it just seems hollow and contrived. Nice attempt, but....
I'm no relation to Nick Hodgson by the way - but I am related to Thom Yorke! ben hodgson x
lol @ 7:21 haha
I hate all of the new recording where you can cut and paste everything together, i prefer the old recording live techniques.
They did cut and glue things together back then too. It was an art form and very hard to do.
ben are brother to nick from the band. and does he still
live leeds i herd he lives not all that far from way i live. i am not going say way abouts in case crazy fans. i not saying their all crazy but you know what i mean.
ps. kaiser chiefs are the best band in the world.
this is what happens when you give a shit band some decent material to work with, they kill it.
sounds good but is it me or is the singer a bit ahead of the beat?
His so right, u can't just hate the beatles. the cover turned out very well, but it still isnt beatles;) but who cares, kaiser chiefs rules
i don't like much of the drum work on this one
shouldve kept it a little more simple
que c'est dur de jouer les beatles...sans ordinateur!!!
it needs to much more to get better, sorry
Just shows what an average band Kaiser chiefs are.
Obsolete machines
The Kaisers are just a lousy band - face it.
Yeah you are right. But their songs are not so bad 😉
vocals out of tune... drums too busy... guitar tone is totally off... I'm not sure they deserve to be recording on such a lovely machine.
now i disagree.
@TheSevenDeadlySins1 The Kaiser Chiefs revived British Rock? What planet are you living on?! A couple of 2 bit pop songs and the thinnest fat front man alive do not a good band make.
You sir, fail miserably.
duff band
Shame Ricky has fallen into getting more rubbish into music industry by joining the voice. Shame
I disagree.
OMG quit whining, this is not your weblog.
uff.... VERY BAD!
they really dont seem that good
Ridiculous. What a group of amateurs.
Now thumb me down fanboys!
i mean...it's just a cover...calm down
