It's brilliant to have you back! Can't believe they're getting rid of them but to be honest if they're no need for them anymore then I suppose it's the right thing to do. But we're always complaining about something 😂. That new camera is amazing! You would think with a good brand like Sony it would a brilliant camera but obviously not. 😊

Thank you for braving a horrid night to show this historical moment. The new beams probably wont last as long as these have knowing how things are made these days, those old engineers really made things over engineered, and good thing they did, who would of thought back then how the weight of traffic would increase around there.

Thanks for capturing this happening for us Darren. The restaurant Shabab was previously Daggies night club in the 80's. I worked at Royal Mail on Wellington Street, now demolished, that I realised from one of your videos was the site of the other old railway station. We could get into Daggies for free with our Royal Mail badges so it was always full of Postmen, great memories.

Love it love it 😍 Big machinery is amazing to see in action. I don’t think Sarens don’t do small lifts. One of my best mates is a crane driver, he’s worked for a few companies and always sent me photos of what he was doing (if allowed his phone on sites)
When I was off work for an operation this year (January-April) he nipped round in his crane on his way back to the yard. I sat in the cab and the control pod, it was amazing honestly, after being off work so long it cheered me up so much.
I filmed it but he asked me not to put it on my TH-cam channel.
You wouldn’t believe how navy different buttons there are for things. It’s a 23 plate Liebherr 😍
I loved every second of this video, I also know a lad who works for Kings as a lift planner.

I've looked at the plans from the Leeds Council website and apart from smartening the area, it looks like they've just effectively moved the Taxi rank from New Station Street down a level to Bishopgate street. You said those beams had been there 80 years. That's 1943. Pre 1945 steel is worth quite a bit, as its radioactive signature is obviously lower! Before those two bombs went off in August 1945.
The space industry likes to use radioactively pure steel for its sattelite programmes, as it does not interfere with the signals they are trying to pick up, so much.
Hence why the Chinese are excavating old WWII wrecks in the South China seas!

I think HS2 was going through the Asda offices and would have had a different terminus.
Publication of the proposed route on 28 January 2013 showed that the Leeds station would be a new terminus connected to Leeds City station by airport-style pedestrian walkways, possibly with moving walkways.[2][4]

When the new modern beams are installed they will probably need urgent work after around 10 years for safety reasons.
The original beams are there still secure and would probably last another 100 years with a bit of looking after.
The Victorians knew what was needed and then went about 50% over just to make sure.
The Forth rail bridge is a perfect example.

Only Leeds Council could think that moving buses and taxis further away from the entrance helps passengers. The loop round the front of the entrance was the best place to put transport interchange. Paving it over might make it pretty, but walking is going to be increased, and for a proportion of the population, not a reasonably viable option

Relocating the existing taxi rank to Bishopgate Street where there will be a large and well-lit shelter and room for six vehicles, also allowing for kerb-side boarding which will help people with wheelchairs or assistance dogs to board more easily.
      It’s being moved 50yds further away 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @Grid56
      @Grid56 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@andrew300169 Your last two words rather prove my point, thanks. There is also the fact that the changes have already added go the cost of the taxis, my last trip added an extra 1.50 to the journey just because the taxi is effectively on the wrong side of the works for my journey and has to divert all round, increasing both time and thus cost. You also skipped the bus part, where the nearest stop is now along the shopping street instead of the station front, again not ideal for the less mobile and those that cannot justify taxi fares!

Leeds is at the top of the worst air quality charts in the U.K. for years, it causes 1,000’s of deaths each year.
Live data as I write has
      1. Pudsey
      2. Nottingham.
      3. Leeds
In comparison with other European countries, the UK ranked 27th out of 37 countries.

Apart from two very localised spots (Armley gyratory and near the Corn Exchange - ironically probably caused by buses) the figures aren't that bad. On all measures of air pollutants the figures have decline steadily over 50 years to a fraction of what they were in 1970.

It a waste of money that could have been put towards improvements to the roads into Leeds as they are choc a block all day as there’s not enough lanes and clear signage to follow it’s confusing, if you don’t know your way around, I live near Huddersfield and I know my way around Leeds, the amount of people I see lost and asking for directions from bus drivers or shop staff is ridiculous it should be put it towards that instead of destroying Leeds history and there will be nothing for us to show how Leeds was from industrial revolution or to show mine and other people’s grandchildren and god children because it’s all been destroyed for horrible ugly buildings that don’t even resemble a train station it will look more like a fine art gallery than a place to get a train to Blackpool or London 😡😡😡
