    Thanks for this. To be sure, there are three potential connection points on the 3.5 mm Jack, right? And specifically for an antenna application, I want to make the wire connection to the long piece (and not to either/both of the other two points that are 90° offset)?

      Yeah you don't use either of the connections to the tip or ring. You only use the sleeve (typically ground).

    Where do you get the 3.5mm Jack and do you think this mod can be done to use a car antenna instead of the antenna you have?

      Literally any 3.5mm trs connector
