Even Tom Hiddleston, Scarlett Johansson, and many other actors would have to train extensively to get the combat moves right, based on their characters. So don't doubt Mahershala Ali just yet. He might not look imposing, but that could change within a few years. And besides, the new Blade movie is a part of Phase 5, and that won't be for another few years. Plenty of time.😁

Blade was the first successful Marvel movie. It paved the road for the success of the current MCU today. Now don't get me wrong, Wesley did shoot himself in the foot by acting like a big shot doing the third movie which is why I think he ended up ultimately being knocked down a peg. But don't discredit the importance of those first two movies. It proved that the superhero movies genre can be done well and its appeal would stretch pass fanboys like me to mainstream audiences across the globe.
If Wesley Snipes is in Blade then he NEEDS to be Blade. Simple facts no one will play blade as cool as Snipes or as clinical in terms of fight choreography (cause he did it all himself). He could never play whistler he's blade ffs!

He was a definite surprise choice. While he is an acclaimed and very accomplished actor, he isn't a real household name outside of geek and film nerd circles. Many of us also assumed that they would go for someone new or less well known, someone younger.
I was honestly expecting a martial artist actor playing Blade, but once they announced Mahershala Ali will be playing him, I'm totally down for it. Yes, although he isn't most known for being a martial artist actor like MJW, I feel like he will do Blade justice, acting wise. He has the looks for Blade too imo. I'm sure he'll learn some martial arts if need be and there will obviously be stuntmen as well So I'm down for it.

I don't think Snipes would be a good fit in the MCU. He was infamously difficult on the shoot of Blade 3 and everyone knows what happened to Edward Norton and Terrence Howard when they became "difficult" with Marvel.
Wesley Snipes is 56 and has kept himself in decent shape. Mahershala Ali is 45. He will be pushing 50 by the time the movie comes out. Snipes could play Blade ONCE, if the movie were to come out right now. Ali can play Blade ONCE, according to the real timetable. They're both too old. Marvel should've cast a younger actor, like Taylor Lautner.

Blade was the first successful Marvel movie. It paved the road for the success of the current MCU today. Now don't get me wrong, Wesley did shoot himself in the foot by acting like a big shot doing the third movie which is why I think he ended up ultimately being knocked down a peg. But don't discredit the importance of those first two movies. It proved that the superhero movies genre can be done well and its appeal would stretch pass fanboys like me to mainstream audiences across the globe.

I was honestly expecting a martial artist actor playing Blade, but once they announced Mahershala Ali will be playing him, I'm totally down for it. Yes, although he isn't most known for being a martial artist actor like MJW, I feel like he will do Blade justice, acting wise. He has the looks for Blade too imo. I'm sure he'll learn some martial arts if need be and there will obviously be stuntmen as well So I'm down for it.

I’m going to say it’s going to be hard to fill those shoes, as long as the movie is good, and at the very least he’s a good blade in the film, I’m not going to hang trying to beat snipes over his head, hopefully he just brings something new to the character. In a little over a month, it’ll have been 5 years since this was announced and Mahershala was cast. And yet, we’re no closer to his film coming out. This is just sad in retrospect.
Blade returning with Ali playing him is what got me so fucking excited.. all of these films and Phase 4 give me a reason to live haha but having the Daywalker back is incredible.

I really want to be excited about the fantastic 4 because its one of my favorite comic series but we've been given so many terrible movie interpretations that I'm afraid to get my hopes up. I hope it turns out great though.
Because it's still in early works. I think people will hype it more when it at least has director or some casting has been made.
