Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.
Twas the night before Christmas
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap.
The night before Christmas
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.
Twas the night before Christmas
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"
The night before Christmas
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.
Twas the night before Christmas
His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!
The night before Christmas
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, 'ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

This is the first Christmas without my granny. She would read this to all her grandchildren on the night before night before Christmas. I miss her so much.

Every Christmas Eve since I was born, my mother would read this story to me. Until 2012 when she died. I was fourteen. Now I'm eighteen, and I've grown to miss that tradition almost as much as I miss her, so here I am on Christmas Eve listening to Santa read the very same story.

Wish I was a kid again Christmas is so magical now I look at my wee boy every year when he discovers that Santa has been his face lights up and it best feeling ever to watch him look around at all his presents can’t beat seeing that priceless I hope everyone has a great Christmas this year be safe spare a thought for those less fortunate then yourself and I hope 2019 is a great year for all of mankind 🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻

My mom always read this story to me and sister every night before I went to bed on Xmas eve. I would always wake up the next morning and see gifts under the tree that Santa left us. I’m 20 years old now and I still have my mom read me this story I want to pass this tradition on to my kids soon, MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

'Twas the Eve before Christmas, there lying in bed,
I was up all night stirring and filled with dread.
The stockings were flung on the mantle with haste,
Procrastinator I am and time I did waste.
The children are not sleeping, they must be damn bats. I'm about to go crazy on those spoiled little brats.
Momma in her coma and I'm wide awake, this always happens for heavens sake.
When out on the street subwoofers I heard, and the occasional bomb of the F word.
Toward the window I stumbled and fell, banging my toe, good grief WTH?!
The headlights shining on my overgrown yard
Flickered and fluttered as the bass thumped real hard.
When what to my squinting eyes I did see,
A drunken teenager taking a pee.
The inebriated driver, so clumsy and slow, I knew at that moment where this night would go.
More sluggish than sloths his curses they came, he muttered and slurred as he called his friends names.
Yo Jason and Jordan and Marcus and Ricky, Keshawn and Caleb and Devon and Micky...
His other drunk friends on his cellphone he called, "now come over here before I'm caught by the law".
As lushes who's last drop of booze has been sipped
When the last empty bottle passes their lip...
around the street corner their hooptie they flew, their trunk full of empties and their breath all of brew.
And then just that instant I heard on my lawn the piece of crap hooptie they got from a pawn.
As I loaded my Glock and looked out the door, their engine backfired and revved with a roar.
Dressed all in South Pole from their head to their toes,
They looked as filthy as two dollar hos.
From the trunk of their car they pulled out a pack, I thought for a moment they were smoking some crack.
Their eyes oh how bloodshot, hair all a mess, and I swear the short one was wearing a dress.
The look on their faces was quite a sight.
The click of Glock, their buttcheeks clinched tight.
What was left of a blunt fell to the ground when they heard that unmistakeable sound.
They stood there and begged they knew what was down, the wrong house to mess with this night they had found.
They were begging and pleading and despite of my mood, I figured tonight was a night to do good.
A wink of my eye and a nod of my head, I think they were grateful that they were not dead.
They said not a word and jumped straight in their car, and promised tonight to stay away from the bar.
And putting my weapon back where it belonged I told those punks to stay off of my lawn.
They drove down the road their stereo blasting, my moment of sympathy not everlasting.
But as they drove away and I walked down the hall, Merry Christmas I said, even to y'all.
