- If the Former Yugoslav Countries were the only ones that could win the Eurovision, these entries would've been the winners. Please, enjoy!

Final result:
Croatia: 10 wins (93, 95, 96, 98, 99, 00, 02, 03, 17, 23)
Serbia: 10 wins (07, 08, 10, 12, 13, 15, 16, 18, 21, 22)
Bosnia&H: 4 wins (94, 06, 09, 11)
Serbia&M: 2 wins (04, 05)
Slovenia: 2 wins (97, 01)
Montenegro: 1 win (14)
N Macedonia: 1 win (19)
Another way to look at it is Serbia 11 and Montenegro 2.
(Because Zeljko is Serbian while No Name in 2005 was a Montenegrin act.)
@@kennet7837 I look at that the same way.
@@kennet7837 you can take it much more for Croatia because the songs from Croatia were the most successful among the ones representing Yugoslavia
@@SimsMoyal Yeah, but this video starts at 1993.
actually Serbia under Serbia is showing first time as Serbian and Montenegro at 2004
What a year was 2013 for ex Yugo countries!!😂😂😂
😂
Who's here after Croatia came 2nd in this year's contest?
Croatia’s best result since its Eurovision debut

2013: "Love is everywhere"

Croatia carrying the region in the 90's. Serbia carrying the region right now.
I hope that next year a new one will prevail 😊

Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia can always be trusted to deliver (mostly) great entries in their language.
What about Bosnia ?
@@Jalekrkmz They haven't entered in almost 10 years, but they had some great entries too!

The fact that 4 out of 5 songs written/performed by Zeljko Joksimovic are in this video makes it even more obvious how much of a god and king of Eurovision he is. Absolutely love that man and his music
Love him too

Lane Moje is the best ballad ever in Eurovision 💛 - still pissed that it didnt win
I vividly remember the premiere of Nije Ljubav Stvar on Serbian television. I was so mad when he didn't win in 2012... one of the best singers, writers and composers worldwide in my opinion
Serbia not participating in the 90s and early 2000s and yet coming at the top of the bunch really shows how big of a balkan music powerhouse Serbia is.
I hope 🇧🇦 will be back as soon as possible
I don't think that we will be back, BHRT has lack of money
I guess Croatia 🇭🇷 needs to send the same quality like in the 90s to win someday... 1999 is still unforgettable that Doris didn't won...
Just wait for baby lasagna, he might
He didn't.
So what we’re getting here is Sanja Vucic would be the Loreen of the Yugoslavia Republic (she competed in 2016 by herself, and was a member of Hurricane in 2021)
Both women are iconic, so it seems fitting
And Željko Joksimović than would be Johnny Logan or something like that. 😁 2 performances: 1 for Serbia and Montenegro and 1 for Serbia and author of music for Bosnia & Herzegovina (Hari Mata Hari - Lejla). All 3 winning.
Really wish to see Slavic countries to see Czech Republic win at least once 😭
I've been hoping for that for ages, but there's 2 issues with a Czech win = first, the organisers have to stop giving them a shit position in the final running order = 3x in the first 3 = Domi 1st, Gabriela 2nd, Lake Malawi 3rd and twice really early in the 2nd half, Mikolas 1st on, Vesna straight after the favourite, Kaarija. Secondly, they need a song that can score with both juries and public. So far, all their entries were bigger with the juries and almost ignored by the public (the 3 early RO entries getting 5 points or less - position in the final played a massive factor in this) except Mikolas who scored highly with the public, but the juries killed it. So, I don't see it ever happening because they just can't get a song that appeals to everyone, while not getting screwed over by the running order.
@@Beckford4000 I meant seeing them win as Mikolas would be first "if only slavic countries could win". But ye. I would love to have my country win fully as well. We can keep hoping.
@@Beckford4000There's another problem. As far as I understood, most of the Czechs don't give a sh*t about Eurovision. That makes it harder to find a good contestant.
I really want Czechia or Poland to win
Im always happy every time I see Marija Madgalena
Thanks for making this video! It's nice to have the countries all together 🇸🇮❤️
I'm happy that all countries got at least one win each
Slovenia should have won in 2001 , 2011 and 2015 😢 🇹🇷❤🇸🇮
Croatia was such a powerhouse in the '90s. And in those years the Croatian Dora was even more popolar than the Melodifestivalen among the Eurovision fan base. Good old times.
To they were building off the 1989 ESC win of CRO band Riva.
@@ariccua6101 Croatia had fantastic artist even before 1989. Riva was just something that was being built in 1980es for YU.
Serbia then carry 2000s.
Sad to see that ever since only one former Yugoslavian country has managed to win.
And now Croatia would have 11 wins
AY Im a Big boy now
Oh how I wish to live in a world where Konstrakta won Eurovision 👏
A better world it would've been, BITI ZDRAVA 👏 👏

Yeaah
These videos are really great and interesting. Perfect for Eurovision obsessed people like me
Those would probably be actual Yugoslav entries if country didn't fall apart
Хочу чтобы Северная Мокедония хоть раз победила в 2019 году она была ближе чем когда либо я так за них голосовал за них тогда
Slovenia 2011 not winning is a crime
Bosnia should 💪
Slovenia not winning (or coming top 10) on numerous occasions is a crime = Darja Švajger 1999, Nuša Derenda 2001, Sestre 2002, Omar Naber 2005, Alenka Gotar 2007, Rebeka Dremelj 2008, Eva Boto 2012, Lea Sirk 2018 and Joker Out 2023 should all have been top 10 in my opinion and they should have won in 1999, 2001, 2005 and 2023!
This song was so good deserved a top 5
to be fair, most Slovenian entries should have in the top 5. But yeah, they should have absolutely won in 2011!
@@czechistan_zindabadNo
Croatia levelling the score with Let 3 is iconic
And now leading again with Lasagna :D
Kaliopi 2012 should have been on the list. Powerful performance
We all gotta agree Croatia won once but it was in Yugoslavia ):
Should have included each win for serbia and Montenegro, cuz joksimovic is serbian and no name is montenegrin
Next video should be If only former USSR countries won
Please
YES!!!
I predict Ukraine first and Russia second :P
And the nordic area
Sweden, norway, finland, iceland, denmark
Although its kinda clear who will win
@@SimsMoyal he already did a Nordic one! :) it was the first one in this series
Croatia kinda had it in the 90s and Serbia ruled in 00s
2023: the first 100% Q moment since 2003😅
1999 Was the first time that two Yugoslav countries weren’t next to each other
In an alternate unverse Zeljko Joksimovic and the Ad Hoc Orchestra won eurovision twice, lovely! Didn't know he got 2 and 3. Well done. Regina is one of my faves. Tamara is a babe- Dino Merlin is a legend. Love Danijela Marija is such a worthy winner. Moj Svet is a song that I bought from the eurovision website when it came out, it's gorgeous. Less keen when the music tries to be europop and Konstrakta is an acquired taste I feel that I need a compilation of music from these countres. Thank you to make the time to make this video.
Actually, Joksimović won 3 times. Once as a composer for B&H entry - Hari Mata Hari - Lejla. I think it's most successful Bosnian entry (3rd).

The way how Slovenia's last Ex-Yugoslav win was in 2001 just shows what an amazing banger "Energy" is!🤩😊I just absolutely love it!
Yes, Energy was a banger, I still remember and love it. But generally Slovenia is almost constantly underrated.
Their 2005 was a masterpiece!! Top3 material in that amazingly strong year.
2011, great! Top5 material.
2007, epic stunning song, presentation could be better.
2006, lovely composition but lyrics and presentation ruined it.
2009, 2012, 2015, 2019, 2020, 2023 also very good but overlooked.
For me Slovenia is the most consistent of the Ex-Yugoslavs, always serving at least decent quality.
Serbia has given masterpieces and total crap. Croatia has given very good and very bad, North Macedonia has given mostly good songs with mostly bad presentations. Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro are hitting with great stuff every now and then but I want them more present and focused. So, if I had to pick one winner for their general presence over the years, it would be Slovenia.
Baby Lasagna 11-10❤❤❤
Thank you for posting this video. Being new to Eurovision (I’m in the US), I never would have heard most of these songs. I think many of them should have ranked higher but I’m sure the competition was tough.
10:41 is it just me or he looks like Axel Hirsoux?
What would be cool is if you also go back through yugoslavia's preselection and saw which country won each year, and then combine those results with this video!
Lane moja 😍😍😍😍 my favourite
And now Croatia has taken the lead again with Baby Lasagna ✨ I'm happy that last year and this year the Balkans are doing better, the jury has punished them unfairly. I hope the rest of the countries from the region want to return soon.
Serbia and Montenegro weren't even competing before 2004.
Serbia and Montenegro Have Participated Together Until Montenegro's Independence After The 2006 Eurovision Song Contest
Molitva❤❤❤ absolute magic
The entries from when Yugoslavia existed were from the various ‘states’ (now countries) so they should have been included here too ! After all, they were sung in different languages over the 30 years - Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian & Slovene
Croatia again would have dominated, Yugoslavia's only winner in 1989 was Croatian and most of the best results were performed by Croats or Croatian bands.
Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian are the same language!
Then you just need to list Yugoslav entries to Eurovision and count which regional center they represented. If I remember correctly, every member of JRT sent 2 entries to Jugovizija and every had own jury. Including Vojvodina and Kosovo, which had own regional broadcaster, although they were par of Serbia (same as presidency of country after Tito died). It was like mini Eurovision.
Btw, when Daniel Popović represented Yugoslavia, he was drafted from RTZ (Zagreb) not RTTG (Titograd - Podgorica), although he was from there. So, this would count as Croatian win not Montenegrin.

From the 90s, 93, 94 and 99 actually sound good. 👍
Songs that inspire, motivate, bring joy, dreams, are the win win win
You should have included the Yugoslav entries from 1961 onwards also
Croatian dominance - from 1993 to 2003 - 8 wins for Croatia, 2 for Slovenia and 1 for Bosnia and Herzegovina
Serbia and Montenegro episode - 2004 and 2005 - the country's only two entries before dissolving came in these two years, they were the best both times and interestingly, every time by a different country within it (Serbia and Montenegro)
Bosnian - Serbian rivalry - from 2006 to 2011 - Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia win 3 times each
Serbian dominance - from 2012 - 2022 (interestingly, exactly ten years just like Croatia's from the 90s to 00s) - Serbia is the best on 7 occasions out of possible 10, the remaining 3 going to Montenegro, Croatia and North Macedonia, respectively. Montenegro and Macedonia get their only wins in their entire history. Serbia becomes the most successful nation.
Croatian - Serbian rivalry - from 2023 onwards - ever since Croatian dominance ended in 2000s, Serbia has been totally dominant and climbing up to catch them and overtake them. With the exception of 2017, all of Croatia's and Serbia's wins were consecutive (not taking other countries into account), meaning there was never any real back and forth until now. Croatia set the bar in the 90s and 00s and it took Serbia a long time to reach it. When they finally did it, Croatia came back in 2023 to level the score again and are very likely to become the best once more since Baby Lasagna will probably be better than Teya Dora.
EDIT: He finished 2nd, way better than Teya Dora. Croatia has more wins now.
It's heartbreaking to see Slovenia NQing between 2004 and 2006 while all the others did, but we know we hade 2-3 bad decisions at that time
Yeah, that's fhe televote only national final...if you let them solely decide, please don't let them do it unadvised. Just let a panel with international professionals say, what they like and dislike about these entries and what could be done better, how their entry could be improved. And talk about things like English, staging, etc. This way around, even the wrong choice (not choosing the entry that would have been the most successful) would fare better at Eurovision than without any given advice. Even better is a 50 50 system (with an international jury at best) or an internal selection. Or an outright invitation to a promising act. But NEVER let the public decide alone.
The same thing happened with North Macedonia in 2014 and 2015
