    Ah, the better times in Melbourne, the Riversdale Rd train/tram crossing; almost airborne myself in 78/79. I used to live in Spencer Rd just downhill from the crossing. I even had a blue EH as my first car. Thanks for the memories. I have subscribed just because you have made my year with that video. Thanks.

      With a grey you are quite correct but we often put some very hot red motors in EJs triple carbureted over bored 186s with shaved and ported heads were common and Hr disk braked front ends to help stop them.

    I was 13 in 1962 when Dad bought our first ever family car from McCracken's Garage in Stawell, Victoria, a brand new EJ Holden Special, with manual transmission, cost 1200 Pounds, Rego, HRJ-525, Dad paid extra for a radio and heater, seat belts were not an option but we fitted them in 1964, Many happy times in that two tone blue and white Special, 10 years later I bought a brand new Mazda RX2, cost $3600, wished I had never sold that baby, used to love "ringing the bell" when it hit 6000 revs.

      My comment was a joke, and that's a ridiculous comment.

    • @FuManchu5ltr
      @FuManchu5ltr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Hi Henry Dude. Calm down. Did you make up your statistic of 90%. Whats the source? They are road legal and registered vehicles that you see, just the same as trucks. When you say too many of them, what is the figure at which there are too many? What is the ideal figure to see and who regulates that figure as a policy? To say people who drive 4WD's are vain is a gross assumption unless you have personally met and got to know every 4WD owner. This is not possible and therefore you seem to be poorly informed and judgmental. It's a case of your point of view needing adjustment.

    • @FuManchu5ltr
      @FuManchu5ltr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Hi Henry It appears that if you are unable to, find it hard to navigate with or have difficulty sharing the road with the vehicles on it then your driver training may need to be updated or improved. I think you might be the problem, not the other vehicles.

    • @FuManchu5ltr
      @FuManchu5ltr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Hi Henry More generalisations and judgments. It's your job to adapt to the conditions as a driver and road user. You blame others for how they use the road rather than seeking to take responsibility for how you use the road, leading to a greater safety and better driver experience. You can'y go through life waving your fist at other people getting angry. All types pf humans drive all types of vehicles, it's not reserved for special ones. You need to change how you look at the road and it's users.

    • @FuManchu5ltr
      @FuManchu5ltr 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Hi Henry Well that seems a bit different to how things started. It was all about how 4WD drives are not using the road, and you had some generalised assumptions about their personalities.
      Bad drivers will be driving all sorts of vehicles. They are not categorised to just 4WD's.
      People using roads badly will always exist. Always has been that way, always will be that way. Lets be less ranty, and more proactive by being a good driver. Don't go through life blaming other people. It's your choice to be annoyed by them. No one but you makes you annoyed at them. Choices bro. Choices

    I lived in East Malvern. South Eastern Freeway to Dandy was always a great run with no one on it in my XA in the middle of the night (usually 4 weed) . I think in 79 the Freeway stopped at Toorongar Rd (or Toorak Rd). Warrigal Rd to Dandy was completed 1st and I remember how annoying it was, & how long it took for them to start & complete the missing section between Tooronga & Warrigal Rd's. What a great snip of video. Thanks for sharing dude.

    • @Jahanoudis
      @Jahanoudis ปีที่แล้ว

      There was a lot of displeasure about freeway building in the 1980s. So to circumvent this the government built the missing link, the South Eastern Arterial Road, but was designed as a freeway with at grade intersections at Burke, Toorak and Tooronga Roads, with the on and off ramps built at Warrigal Road with no bridge. An interim treatment until the politics of freeway building played out

      ‘Gold’ lyrics to the song by John Stewart:
      When the lights go down in the California town
      People are in for the evening
      I jump into my car and I throw in my guitar
      My heart beatin' time with my breathin'
      Drivin' over Kanan, singin' to my soul
      There's people out there turnin' music into gold
      Ah, my buddy Jim Bass he's a-workin' pumpin gas
      And he makes two fifty for an hour
      He's got rhythm in his hands as he's tappin' on the cans
      Sings rock and roll in the shower
      Drivin' over Kanan, singin' to my soul
      There's people out there turnin' music into gold
      Ah, California girls are the greatest in the world
      Each one a song in the making
      Singin' rock to me I can hear the melody
      The story is there for the takin'
      Drivin' over Kanan, singin' to my soul
      There's people out there turnin' music into gold
      Drivin' over Kanan, singin' to my soul
      There's people out there turnin' music into gold
      When the lights go down in the California town
      People are in for the evening
      I jump into my car and I throw in my guitar
      My heart beatin' time with my breathin'
      Drivin' over Kanan, singin' to my soul
      There's people out there turnin' music into gold
      Flyin' over Kanan, singin' to my soul
      People out there turnin' music into gold
      People out there turnin' music into gold
      People out there turnin' music into gold
      (Ooh, yeah)
      People out there turnin' music into gold, into gold
      People out there turnin' music into gold, into gold
      People out there turnin' music into gold, into gold
      (Gotta sing)
      People out there turnin' music into gold, into gold
      Rappin' on the radio
      People out there turnin' music into gold, into gold

      That was an EJ, a 1963 model.
      EH was 1964, in those days when we had a motor car manufacturing industry, Holden made some great cars then.
      It went, from 1948,FX, FJ, FE, FC, EK, EJ, EH, HD, HK, HT, HG, HJ, HX, etc...

      @@BugsRDeadPestWeedControl666 yes of course, completely slipped my mind, in 1968 a good mate of mine had an old HR ex taxi fitted with a 192 c.i. red motor, big improvement over the old 161c.i. it was originally fitted with.

    Had 3 EJ's. That's how ya drove em. hanging on to the wheel, while ya ass slid over to the passenger side🤣. That's because of the vinyl bench seat. That one sat on the road better a lot of them.
