People do forget that the orginal premise with WD is that the work that could be done by a confident DIYer was not costed because that was the stuff you could do on the driveway with a decent set of tools, so zero costs apart from your own time, so things like as balljoint change, wing replacement, service work, body prep for paint, brake replacement, even clutch change would fall into that category. The things you can't do (unless you are a specialist) like gearbox rebuilds, painting, windscreen replacement and electronic repairs were farmed out to specialists (gave brewer some input on the build stage) and given costs. The new episodes are detached from reality though now as Elvis 'borrows' a friends machine shop to re-bore a 911 engine or a rolling road to map a vehicle are next to zero cost where those things would have substantial value attached to them today, it's good to see the process but realistically they are job that would be farmed out by the DIYer.
A guy I worked with had his tvr done at a place in yorkshire and said that they had been asked to provide a free chassis for the tvr they were doing on wd in return for being featured. They refused but they still bought it but featured it being powder coated instead.
Great to see your subscribers numbers going up with each video. Your efforts are being rewarded and, out of small acorns... 👍 As much as folks can - quite rightly - criticise WD, I believe that the programme got a lot people more interested in cars and in getting their own hands dirty, whether it be servicing or repairing/upgrading, which as a petrol head I think is fantastic.
I have information on the morgan that appeared on wheeler dealers for when you eventually get to it (its pretty far on) a friend of mine owns it (from Northern Ireland ) and i see it regularly. It is in great condition and it just needs an exhaust manifold now which seems pretty tricky to find at a decent price. I can send through photos if you like
@@oscarsgarage447 i understand but you should always factor in your self worth even if they said as we did it all ourselves we saved £X , ooo of pounds in labour cost as we all know this is normally the biggest cost I worked in the motor industry for 20 years mikes profit margins were laughable I can guarantee he would not have ran his own business with those margins
Well I’ll tell you this for a fact C515 TDG must still be breathing because when I checked this up a few years ago being nosy as you do it said it was untaxed since some time in 2007 now it is sorned someone must have it and if you sorned before 2012 you had to do it every 12 months so someone obviously still has it somewhere
Brilliant 🤩 could you look into the P38 Range Rover ? It’s was a dark blue with a cream interior. That was a lovely car but even I wouldn’t be brave enough to buy a P38 !
Did you watch the series wen thay did wheeler dealers revisited with sadly thay only did 1 session and thay pick cars but u fink thay sud do more revisited but thay haven't as
As someone who is hard of hearing, I can hear ok 👍 just so I can get a shout on your next vid, it's pronounced pro-nunce-ee-a- shun ......... 👍 Or where I'm from "It sounds like"....whilst grabbing your ear......😂 Good series fella, you got a sub !!
@@oscarsgarage447 enjoyed it very much very good content from what I can gather everyone has heard of a cortina lotus especially but the crayford team had 400 and something like 40 was lotus and they sold for a very handsome amount intact that £199 price tag on window with todays inflation would be in region of £950 in todays world
Lost all my faith in wheeler dealers .. after they spend all that time and effort restoring the cars .. then you tell us the cars have been scrapped ..😢
I too have lost my faith in WD after all these revelations. Seems it's all a sham. Agree a lot can happen to a car in twenty years, but so many WD cars seem to have been scrapped within just a few years.

That bimmer was beautiful. The colour, the shape, the interior, the wheels.
We agree!

Thanks for that... will remember that when I get to the TVR

Agreed. Looking at it as what it is vs. what one would hope it to be is key. It's a "guide" so to speak, a demonstration.
Thank you so much 😀, and also thanks for the info on the 924!
Very interesting programme for old car enthusiasts. Keep up the good work ❤❤
Thanks, will do!
Screw the haters, keep up the good work. Me and my wife love the videos.
Great to hear!

That's brilliant, just the sort of info we are looking for. Would be great to see pics!
very interesting video series. Please go on like that.
Thanks, will do!
All subscribed m8 really like this channel keep em comin 👍👍
Thanks for the sub! Just finished the edit of the next part. Its a bit of an epic!!!
I wouldn't expect that Suzuki Jimny would still be running as for the BMW well its unfortunate that cars bump into each other
None of the cars lasted long but I guess this is reality of used cars. Been checking the MOT for years as well and finding it hilarious
Always tickled me when they said cost to restore was £X because labour was never ever factored in to any of the cars
To be fair on later cars they did put up how many hours labour, but think the the early concept was based on if you were to do the work yourself.

That SJ is probably been ragged around a farm somewhere!
Probably!
I’d love to know what happened to the Mercedes W123 230E
So would we!
One of my favourite cars the show did was the bmw 325i. What happened to the red Bmw 635i? It had horrible wheels and I think they used a donor car
That will be along soon, I have some info on that one already!

Thanks for the visit

I did watch those, but as you say they didn't do many.
Certificate of destruction feels some one gone forever .
Did you look for Dell boys Capri AKA the prat mobile j.h
Not yet, give me time! :-)
Isn't that in the British Motor Museum in Gaydon?
I think the cosworth lives in hartford
The suzuki is still registered as a white car, not a black one.
I think it was scrapped.
Did all that work to a rotten car 😂
Production deadlines and all that...
Sound police here. The sound is terrible.
I will plead guilty to a charge of 'not as good as usual', but I think terrible is a bit harsh. Normal service will resume next video!

People scrap cars for the sake of 3 tyres !! ,seems alot of cars are destroyed over minor issues .
The 3 tyres were just at the MOT, and it subsequently passed. The write off happened 10 months later.
What about delboys crayford cortina 😜🤪
Leave it with me!

To be fair the first programme was 20 years ago, so a lot can happen to cars in that time!
You are such a weirdo...you do know cars need maintaining evwry year by whomever owns them
