Then he made an effort to launch the ball more and even though his hard hit contact went down a bit, his average and slugging were way higher in the second half. The Yankees hitting philosophy needs some adjustment. Their hitters had THE highest hard hit rate but one of the lowest averages in the league.
During that 13 game win streak many different players stepped up. I'm thinking about Andrew Velazquez having 5 RBI's against Boston back in July. I'm thinking Odor and Gallo hitting a few home runs during that span. This time is a little different. It's literally just Judge and Stanton. Either way it's still great

Stanton looks so patient and relaxed at the plate. Not lunging and over swinging like he was before. The home run he hit was a low pitch. Before he would have swung over the pitch and struck out. Now he flexes and makes contact. Awesome power with out swinging out of his shoes.
I went to an A's game in August and Stanton absolutely crushed it. I told my son, OK I got what I came to see. He convinced me to wait for Judge. Sure enough Judge cranked one to center field. That made my baseball year.

When he hit the ball at that spot (way inside and way low) , I didn't think there was no way he could get a hit out of it. Lucky to even foul a pitch in that spot. Not only does he get a hit, he hits a homer.... Crazy! It was a great pitcher's pitch. Golfing homer!
No electronic umps. Just umps that are literally electronically tested to see who's the best. You want to make the bigs as an ump, then you have to take tests in balls and strikes and out and safe according to what the pitches and plays actually are according to an electronic device that gets it right every time. Only the umps that score the best get to make it to the majors. I don't want the human element removed from the game. I still want to see arguments and people get ejected. That's part of the fun. And it'll take any favoritism by the umps out if they want their jobs.

Mind you the two pitches he swung at were out of the zone. Looked at a fastball down the pipe. He’s and the pitch he hit out was the worse pitch and hits it 400+ feet. A slider down and away after he changed eye sight would have worked better in hindsight or even a hard fastball in. Either way this man Stanton is the hottest hitter in the majors right now. Hopefully Galo can protect him because if I’m facing the Yankees the one person who is not going to end my season is Stanton….GO YANKS!
