One of the greatest bands of all time. How they are not in the Rock Nand Roll Hall of fame is beyond me. Not enough votes they say. Well the people who did not vote them in are ignorant. First band I saw in concert in 1968. I remember when Robin Trower was a member. God bless Gary Brooker I miss him and the rest of the band.
I don't know I could have just danced without acknowledging this guy is just AMAZING and they are really lucky to even hear him in person... He's just a terrific performer and this is one of the best classic songs EVER, so I'm glad to have had the chance to listen to this...
I love this guy! He sings better than years ago. Another thing I admire about him is in 1967 he got married. He is still married to the same woman. I just love him and this song. ❤️😻❤️😻❤️😻❤️
The TH-cam 2006 Denmark "Salty Dog" performance with Symphony and Choir is one of the most spiritual songs I've ever heard. What a blessing and encouragement to hear this voice and to find new meaning in the old lyrics after having "heard" it many decades ago. Thanks, Gary. Sing forever.
Absolutely cracking song his voice hasn't changed one bit unlike others. This is a man passionate about the music and not the money.. shame we don't still have artists coming up like this man... LEGEND!
The difference in the sound organ, and the way it's played, is very noticeable, and it makes all the difference wth the original version! it shows that a synthesizer can not always replace a true Hammond organ... By the way Gary Brooker still have an amazing voice. That's talent!
My wife and I had this song played at our wedding as my wife walked down the aisle. My mum didn't believe me at first when I told her what we intended. I often smile when I saw her reaction. One of my all time favourite records, makes me feel very emotional every time I hear it.
I've ALWAYS LOVED this song!!! Even more the older I get...And I "LOVE" this version in 2014 maybe as much as the original in 1967...(Even though I didn't hear in in 1967...thanks to my Big Brother...I learned a "lot" of 50's and 60's Classic Rock!!!)
I've only realised this week that Gary featured in the film version of Evita (Rainbow Tour). For years I couldn't figure out who the singing voice reminded me of. It was Paler Shade of White. Unmistakable voice!
We skipped the light fandango Turned cartwheels 'cross the floor I was feeling kinda seasick But the crowd called out for more The room was humming harder As the ceiling flew away When we called out for another drink The waiter brought a tray And so it was that later As the miller told his tale That her face, at first just ghostly, Turned a whiter shade of pale She said, "There is no reason And the truth is plain to see." But I wandered through my playing cards And would not let her be One of sixteen vestal virgins Who were leaving for the coast And although my eyes were open They might have just as well been closed And so it was that later As the miller told his tale That her face, at first just ghostly, Turned a whiter shade of pale And so it was… etc.
Who else really loves listening to this masterpiece even in 2022?
Mr Brooker, you are a legend. Your voice will be unforgettable. God bless you

Great version; the rhythm section is right on in the tempo and being "in the pocket". For a slower song, that's a special talent.

Dommage

Classic performer, classic song.
