The collapsing trail arm seems to be a creeping disease, worse, it's not easy to recognize in your own swing (until if you are lucky, you see a video of it). The brain thinks the longer backswing should be a longer shot. I saw a major improvement in strike/speed/distance recently when I started concentrating on keeping the left arm straight, you can feel the lever of the lead arm catapulting (trebuchet?) the club/shaft with amazing speed with little effort. Great stuff.
Good lesson! One issue with my swing i used to get my hands too deep and left arm under the shoulder plane. Trying to create width and conscious of not wanting to pick the club up. Trying to keep my hands in front of my chest and keep width as you say. Takes time, but getting there!
I have shy's away from trying tk keep my left arm as straight as a board. Even started lifeting my heal. Very new swing to me, but I definitely get more turn, longer swing arc, thus more distance. I was suprised I seem to make jyst as good contact with great compression. Feels good everywhere.
Perfect for my faults! Need to get to the range asap now!
Fantastic stuff Mark!

pause at the top also helps prevent the bounce back
