I’m so glad that The Prophet of Edan spoke to you, Chris! You mentioned Joseph Campbell and the hero’s journey near the end of the video. I watched his series of interviews with Bill Moyers the summer before I started college, back in 1990, and I had to read The Hero with a Thousand Faces afterwards. So, I’m sure his ideas have had some influence on me. Best wishes for some great reads in 2025!

@@PhilipChaseTheBestofFantasy Thank you, Philip! I don’t mean to imply that your story is just following the hero’s journey, I know it’s much more complex and nuanced than that. It’s just something I’ve been thinking about lately and I saw some parallels with Dayraven so far. His journey has been incredibly meaningful to me, and I can’t wait to see where he goes next, especially with the way the second book ends!

A lot of intriguing books presented. Those that I hadn't already read have now been added to my ever growing to read list.
Wizard of Earthsea was the book that introduced me to Le Guin's wonderful writing. As a side note, most (if not all) the books I've read from her showcase her love for the richness of human culture, this partly being why her characters and worlds aren't just based in european cultures, which is quite neat. If you're looking for low sci-fi I highly recommend her Hainish cycle series. The Left Hand of Darkness and The Word for World is Forrest are fantastic in my opinion. The Dispossessed is also greatly acclaimed though I haven't read it yet.
I'm very glad to hear you've enjoyed the Muderbot series. It's a series so very close to my heart and it's so lovely to see others enjoying it. I relate immensely with SecUnit, and every time I hear someone else does as well, it makes me quite happy. It's also very interesting to me how other people will connect with different parts of its experience and psyche. Anyways, I hope you continue to enjoy the series.
Haven't been subscribed to you very long, but I'm enjoying your videos so far. Looking forward for the next one. Good luck in your studies and a have a good start to the new year. (By the way, loved the nosy kitty, very cute!)

@anendovelicanrock Thank you so much for watching! I actually just stopped at a used bookstore today and picked up The Dispossessed and The Left Hand of Darkness, so excited to read more of her work, and thank you for the recommendations! And yes Murderbot is so meaningful to me, so it’s great to hear that it’s important to you as well!
