Both carrying methods seem to be suitable for newborn infants / small babies but not sure when to use which. When do you use the "fabric roll" method and when do you use the "deep pocket" method please? Thanks.

Hello! The deep pocket is connectas preferred method but sometimes if baby is very small rolling the waist can help to make the panel smaller if needed

What's the point of the little tie at the beginning??

to ensure the carrier fits the baby's legs. Young babies have small legs and this cinching ensures the carrier fits between their natural squat, which widens as baby gets bigger.
