I watched the film these last days and be revisiting it every day. Such a beautiful story, and this song is perfect for it. A huge huge thank you to the artist, Rufus W.
I can't with this song, with the scenes of them both on the movie, with the emotion that this song have in every single paragraph. Such a masterpiece full of feelings.
In the movie Holding the Man, this is sung when the gay couple make love for the final time. One is dying of Aids - the other dies later. The movie is based of the book of the same name - it's a bio written by Timothy Conigrave. He died 10 days after completing it.
It is such a beautiful movie and true story. It is so sad but I still love having seen it and was so touched. It reminds me of a gay couple I knew long ago who both dies about the same time.
One of the most profound and emotional movies/music of the "AIDS" films. It brought back tears that for me are over 30 years old. I needed a good remembrance and respite for all the hurt of days gone by and this movie served me by warming that "dark hole" well..
I have searched everywhere to try and get this song downloaded STAT but I can't find it anywhere but here, after first hearing it in Holding the Man. I LOVED the movie and the song... cried like a friggin baby. My uncle passed away of AIDS related complications. He hid his diagnosis and in fact, ran away... just disappeared from our lives until a year before he died. We all loved and accepted him 100% but I think he was still afraid to tell us he was sick. He never told us and the sadness and shock when he died, I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Who is anyone to dictate how or who someone else loves. I'm married to my husband, my high school sweetheart and I could equally relate to how these men felt for each other because it is equally love and deserves the same respect.
Over and over listening the song, watching the movie. Reading the book.. I can't get over from it..It touched me so badly. I just wish them (Tim Conigrave and John Caleo) to meet again, somewhere. It's not fair. How can god be so cruel?
This song is so beautiful and emotional!! Especially for anyone who has seen the movie... As a gay myself, I needed therapy to step out of the emotional state I went into after experiencing the great piece of art.
Say, I may be gone today I may be goin' tomorrow But do not fear My darling, now I'm here What are you saying, pray What are you trying to tell me You will stay here Forever and a year Say, can you see them there Those darkened clouds in the distance So close to you We ought to go, my dear What are you saying, pray There's only bright skies about us Just look away Just turn the other way A drop of rain, I swear I felt upon my forehead Why is it now I cannot wipe my brow 'Twas not a drop of rain And now your hands, I am holdin' It was a tear Forever and a year Forever and a year
I wish so hard that this was art of an album. I can only assume that he sold the rights. But goddamn... I have loved few things in my life as much as I love this song.
Fuck, this song makes me cry a lot. Im so fucking bad right now I just wanna die lmao why they need to die? This movie is so fucking lovely oh man I really freaking out

Say, I may be gone today
I may be goin' tomorrow
But do not fear
My darling, now I'm here
What are you saying, pray
What are you trying to tell me
You will stay here
Forever and a year Say, can you see them there
Those darkened clouds in the distance
So close to you
We ought to go, my dear
What are you saying, pray
There's only bright skies about us
Just look away
Just turn the other way A drop of rain, I swear
I felt upon my forehead
Why is it now
I cannot wipe my brow
'Twas not a drop of rain
And now your hands, I am holdin'
It was a tear
Forever and a year Forever and a year

Do not read the the book or watch the movie if you are not ready for a good crying session/s and a few depressed days.
