He's actually likable. Not stupid and angsty. He gets over his angst early on, faces his demons head on and grows. His character has been consistent from the start. He always loved his brother and those around him, and his character aligned with Cid's.
Same. This game hits harder, I think, when you’re an older sibling and you resonate with Clive. This game has become special to me and I don’t ever think I’ll ever forget it.
A pretty commonly accepted theory is that Clive is still alive, for two big reasons: In the side quests right before the end of the game, Jill states that Clive is her sunrise, and that as long as she sees the sun come up, Clive will return to her. And the last thing we see before she stops crying is a sun rising upon a new world. Additionally, another side quest has Harpocrates give Clive a quill, and he states that when this is over, he’d like to put down the sword and write a book. The book at the end says it’s written by Joshua, but we know that Clive takes the names of those closest to him to carry them on, like Cid, so it’s highly likely that he wrote the book. So all in all, Clive is very likely to be alive, it just takes some putting pieces together. Glad you had fun with the game, I loved it, and really hope we get an expansion.
Honestly the haprocrates side quest confirms it only because when I went back to do the side quests, no one told me this quest was locked until you beat ALL the other side quests. Placing such a huge emphasis on this side quests pretty much seals it for me that Clive survived and wrote the book
i think a smaller detail that must just be a longshot is that the description for the platinum trophy is 'and thus did our journey end...' and it's called the chronicler, we know that (moss) the chronicler was a historian in valisthea, and pairing this with clives final line further proves, to me at least, that clive did survive and become moss 2.0 under the pen name joshua rosfield. also the fact that the game begins and ends with his narration hints towards it aswell
Those final flash backs to where Josh was first born and Clive seeing Joshua and him holding onto Clive for the first time to then cutting back to Clive holding Joshua one last time. That had me crying water works. it had in my heart.
If you skipped any side quests I’d say go back and do them because there are a lot of hints pointing to Clive actually being alive, then going on to write the book, but using his brothers name to continue his legacy the same way he did with Cid’s name. Like at the beginning of the game Clive says “so our journey begins” and at the end he states “and thus our journey ends”, so people this that is him writing the opening and closing to the book. There are a bunch of other hints too so keep an eye out!
@@kon637 what I personally hope happens is that the medicine girl, who had a lot of focus on her for some reason, finds Clive and nurses him back to health, same way she did for Dion. Then she ends up being leviathan and helps him get back to Jill. Only issue is magic might be gone, but they could always spin it as it is slowly fading or anyone who has magic can still use it, there just won’t be any new bearers born.
And there's also Hunts as well, and additional hunts within side quests. Like a whole Akashic Behemoth in a side quest. Yes, some side quests are a bit slow or uneventful, but that's mainly early on. There's so much other content in there that he's missing, and I really doubt he even cares. I'm not feeling the same passion that he had towards GoWR and Jedi Survivor. I get FFXVI has certain things ppl take issue with, but there's still so much fun to be had REALLY diving into the game and immersing yourself in the world. Not to mention he's missing out on a lot of upgrades and whatnot not doing more + side quests.

1:49:50 I love this phase in particular because it reminds me of Gwyn from Dark Souls. Then came the phase at 2:37:50, which is exactly what I wanted to see from this ending. This was my first FF game I ever saw and goddamn was it amazing. I won't talk about the ending in too much detail because some people like to read the comments before watching the vid (for some reason), but yeah its pretty bittersweet. It makes absolute perfect sense that the ending was full of deaths but i still would have loved to se Clive and Jill growing olde together finally having a normal life but instead he sacrifised himself to erase all magic so everybody could have the life he always wanted, an absolute GOAT.

JETTRO idk if u gon see this but after red dead 2 u need to play final fantasy 7 remake. Completely different from 16 but the fights, main character and characters in general are fucking fantastic. Music in all final fantasy games go hard u gon love it. Also ff7 remake imo doesn’t shower the player with unnecessary boss phases. I think it has the right amount whilst f16 keeps going and going.

If you're looking for another incredible game, I would highly recommend Returnal and would love to see your playthrough. It has some of the best atmosphere and sound design I've ever experienced, and the gameplay is snappy and hectic as hell.
Most people would turn up the brightness / change the gamma if they can’t see what’s on screen 😂(makes a huge difference w/ this game and dark areas). Jet spends more time trying to dodge away from mechanics instead of into them - the dodge / counter mechanic is quite slick in this title when done properly. You can continuously perfect dodge even in Odin’s crazy mechanics. Get good Jet! 😉
Lots of ppl are hoping for a Leviathan DLC. I've seen speculation that the newborn baby might end up being Leviathan's Dominant, given how the mom was able to withstand the aether in Ash due to her pregnancy. That would be quite the timeskip, though. In addition to Leviathan, I'd also like a spinoff DLC to play as other Dominants. Mainly Dion. I kinda also wish we could get more Benedikta in some way. Feel like there was so much more to her character than they showed us.

Lots of ppl are hoping for a Leviathan DLC. I've seen speculation that the newborn baby might end up being Leviathan's Dominant, given how the mom was able to withstand the aether in Ash due to her pregnancy. That would be quite the timeskip, though.
In addition to Leviathan, I'd also like a spinoff DLC to play as other Dominants. Mainly Dion. I kinda also wish we could get more Benedikta in some way. Feel like there was so much more to her character than they showed us.
