Thanks for all the feedback and constructive criticism so far! This is a pitch so I'm definitely open to this as stories are collaborative and change all the time in Pre-production. I thought I should pin this and reply to some of the overall critiques instead of to individual comments. I'll probably keep updating this.
    1. Pitting Bran against the Child of the Forest is flawed
~ I'd also like to add that Bran is having visions of an upcoming apocalypse since he's a Greenseer and the only thing around that can cause this is the Child of the Forest. Also, I know the Children of the Forest were friendly with the 3-eyed Raven, but A: That was predominantly with the last 3-Eyed Raven. B: Bran is seemingly upset and conflicted about them after learning they created the Night King. His views on the Children of the Forest after this point aren't explored since we go right into Hold the Door. C: Bran's responsibilities are immense and I can see him sacrificing one last Child of the Forest over the threat of humanity ending.
    2. Create more characters.
~ Definitely would plan on that but since this was more of an overall story pitch, I was predominantly focusing on the major players. I did say at the end that I'd want to make Tormund a father and referred to the need of other Wildling characters occasionally.
    3. Bran's power scaling makes writing him impossible.
~ Kind of agree and someone brought up that Bran could just warg into a wolf and assassinate the child which didn't occur to me. Although, I don't think I'd have the heart to write a scene where Jon has to stop Snow from killing the child and puts him down. But to me at least, I don't think he's toooo crazily OP and I do still have him win ultimately. Which is the most logical course for this story and is a subversion of the protagonists winning.
    4. Retcon season 8 and do something else.
~ I meannnnnn...that's ideal lol but that's also the easy way out. I'm trying to challenge myself by pulling together a good story from what remains and I don't necessarily like contradicting what's come before or retconning. I also saw some people getting really ambitious with some of their ideas, but I wanted to keep it relatively grounded.

Hey, to counterract the fact that Bran is OP, one could have him go a bit mental, supreme power has corrupted many men in this universe. The Brann of the future having gone mad would also play into the theory that he partly orchestrated all this to become king, making him a much darker character I'll concede. Going mad could explain plotholes and could also be combined with the wall being historically a magical barrier, magic south of the wall is much less powerful and this amount of magic could have overcome Brann, its kinda clunky but i feel it would fit nicely in your scenario.

Some changes I’d like to make:
    1. Arya should be back in Westeros. 5 years is a long time, and in real life, Cristopher Columbus was back in Europe before 5 years.
    2. I think Bran should be incredibly popular of a king. What Bran lacks in empathy can be made up by Tyrion, and realistically, Bran should do pretty well as a king, and I think making Bran a good king will add layers of complexity and make him much more of a threat.
    3. I think you should’ve went into more detail with Jon’s love interest. She should presumably have a strong motive.
    4. Jon’s arc should in some way incorporate both the Stark and Targaryen side of his family. Drogon does this a little, but it’s not really enough. Ned’s teachings are important to him, but so is Aemon’s.

With a lot of growling and hissing from D. Jon gets closer and D starts to get out of Bran's warging as it gets tamed by J. Then they fly and change the course of the battle. After this Westeros starts recognizing Jon and they make him a king and all of the fans are happy. :D

I've always said the ONLY way this IP can be revived is if they somehow managed to write the best damn sequel story in the history of script writing. Get the story back to early GOT quality and fans would flock to it once again. The characters are still loved ... but the world around them needs a LOT of repair work.

Honestly I think this plot is to flimsy because the stakes are to high for just sheltering one child of the forest. I would be a lot more interested in watching Jon leading the free folk and making them become a more advanced civilization and bran possibly becoming paranoid that Jon threatens his rule because of his excellent leadership and charisma. The small folk of westeros still see Jon snow as their savior and many migrate up north beyond the wall to serve him and Yada Yada Yada you get more game of thrones lol.

  • @DustDragon
    @DustDragon วันที่ผ่านมา +14

The problem is that Bran is just too overpowered. He can be everywhere, anytime, anyone or anything. He is the embodyment of narrative pointlessness. He can only provide stories that see his powers considerably mitigated or it's going to be impossible for him to be countered. I'd say that the only way for Bran to turn back into a character is that, for unknown reasons, his powers start to decline, and the only thing he's been able to foresee before his capacities are weak enough to prevent him to warg far away in space and/or in time was the return of the Children of the Forest, maybe using the threat to create a whole new White Walkers outbreak if men didn't let them be or if they didn't accept to give them lands to thrive in, or maybe creating a new White Walker (but without context, and that context could become a pretty heavy stake that could make Bran so very wrong in his will to whipe out the Children).
Oh, and Bran must die. I'm convinced that it must happen for any story to be born after the mess HBO shat on us that was supposed to be the end of Game of Thrones. And if following the story you are envisioning, in his last moment, he must see the future, how wrong he was, but how bad things will turn now that he's been slain, giving an even better reason to the Kingdoms to wage war, against the Children, and/or to secure the (melted) Iron Throne.
Oh, and Stannis is alive. I'm sorry, but if we haven't seen Brienne kill him directly, it's because she spared him. And Tyrion must take part, he's the only one Jon can trust in the end and they both know it.
Having Drogon back is a very good idea, especially if he's controled by Bran. But the dragon wouldn't be able to hurt Jon (last heir of the Targaryans, blah blah blah, oh my god what a twist).
And I know it could be a bad idea, but... Daenerys should come back too =/ revived by the Red Priestess we see in season 7 (or 6? I don't remember... During the freefall in quality of the show). But, contrary to Jon, something must be wrong about her. Like she has lost all memory (a bit too cliché, but giving her another shot at life, maybe being manipulated by the Red Priestesses, then kidnapped by, I don't know... QUAITH??? Forcing on her a new narrative, a new innocence...). And then we'd learn that she had a baby... That was why Drogon took her with him in the East immediatly, because he felt the baby inside and that it had to be saved. I know, that would be a bit too much, but if you make a sequel to Game of the fucking Thrones, you go big or you go home. It must start on a small scale, and then get bigger and bigger. Like, we could learn about Daenerys' survival only at the begining of season 2 x)
People could argue that making so many characters come back could be a bad idea, and I fondamentally agree. Only, if they are given new opportunities of being something else and/or growing, it can be done and people could enjoy it in the end. I mean, Jon and Daenerys are supposed to be young (not even 20, and even younger in the books!), but in the end of Game of Thrones, they're narratively treated as people in their 40's, and that's just a symptom of the rushed final seasons...
    Honestly, things can be done!
Your idea of having Tormund changed by the Children of the Forest is nice too... Man, you should be hired as a scenarist ;D
But honestly, it mustn't be a new White Walker crisis, it would be too underwhelming. A new trick, a magic way more drastic OR subtle, motivated by despair OR hope, that should work better =) in my opinion, of course

Who's to say the Night King we saw in the show was infact the puppet master? I think it's plausible that since the White Walkers are defeated in cycles, there's a puppet master type of figure beyond the wall that is regenerating or creating white walkers. And the Night King is infact the leader of the group, but not the leader of them all. Would also have to be outside Bran's vision somehow. Like another 3 eyed raven type of character.

Hey Supercuts, I love your videos! Here is some honest and constructive criticism for this pitch!
I think you’ve done a decent job building a narrative from the scraps left by Game of Thrones’ final season, but I can’t help feeling that by staying rooted in Westeros and relying on existing characters like Bran, Brienne, and the Children of the Forest, the story feels limited and a bit cheap. The frequent callbacks, while nostalgic, can come across as unnecessary winks to the audience. I love what you did with Jon protecting the child of the forest, but it being the catalyst for a new war in Westeros I think is a bit of a reach.
I like the idea of setting the story five years after Season 8, but Jon doesn’t seem to have changed much. Living with the wildlings should have left a greater impact on him, reshaping his character in meaningful ways while still retaining his core traits. This evolution would give the show a chance to carve out its own identity instead of feeling like GOT 2. Maybe let him remain honorable, but let it be a new kind of honor compared to what Ned thought him, like maybe some form of Wildling honor. Then part of his arc could be finding his way back to what Ned instilled in him, just as an example.
I also feel like that to justify its existence and stand out, the show should explore new lore, threats, and locations. For example, a new race of people from west of Westeros could arrive and disrupt Jon’s new life, introducing fresh dynamics. Alternatively, instead of settling in the Land of Always Winter, Jon and Tormund could have explored and settled on a new continent, perhaps a completely original region or an unexplored part of Essos. These elements would expand the world, introduce new characters, and challenge Jon in ways that feel fresh and distinct.

Not bad but I still think retconning the NK plot is still the best way to go and also honor the books. I think there’s also a pretty good way to do that. The series can start with Bran having visions of a dead weirwood tree in the heart of winter. This nags at him so he goes to the isle of faces to have clearer visions where he sees that the NK kidnapped a human woman hundreds of years ago to have a child, the Night Prince. The Night Prince’s only purpose has been to protect the great dead weirwood tree in the heart of winter. With him are a few white walkers that were raised by him and not the NK that help him protect the weirwood tree.
Jon’s love interest, Val, would then be kidnapped by this new NK (via one of his white walkers) so that he can try and have a prince himself to serve the same purpose he has before he goes on and raises an army to complete his father’s mission. Basically there must always be a white walker defending the weirwood that can survive even if the NK dies. Then the series/movie would be about Jon saving Val with a crew of wildlings/NW men/Northmen sent by Sansa if Sophie Turner wants to be involved/any other characters from around the seven kingdoms that would want to get involved/Drogon with Bran warging him maybe. Then Jon and co save Val and destroy the dead weirwood in the heart of winter and then the seasons return to normal. The end.

i think it might stretch credulity for jon to be willing to make the whole of the wildlings villains *again* based on a creature he doesn't even know, but i think the idea of a lost blank bringing new conflict into the story. You could have jon being slowly corrupted by people around him constantly telling him he should be king, until he starts to believe his own hype and begins to think of himself as the true king and acts without bran's consent, rather than him being willing to destroy the knight's watch over jon protecting a child of the forest, but rather jon is starting to have actual ambition, becoming bitter after all this time trying to do the right thing he just keeps getting stabbed in the back or cast aside despite all of his trying to do right, and it slowly corrupts him. he could either reuinite with loyalists to the blackfyres or targaryen. It is a subversion, and a more realistic one in my opinion, to see jon gradually becoming bitter for being always passed over, more competent, more work, more effort, more sacrifice, all for him to constantly be shipped away. Jon is full of righteous indignation, he discovers a new found confidence and becomes a realistic threat to the seven kingdoms as he wages a war of guerilla tactics, like the way the spanish defeated the napoleonic forces with sticks and pitchforks against the army that had conquered europe.
the more jon wins, the more people begin to realize that he might be the actual claimant and brandon is aloof, because he actually knows everything, he can't predict the wildlings forces because they work as "fish in water" and he can't retaliate without destroying civilians and causing more people to turn against him. This could incorporate the same idea, with jon coming to find a child of the forest and bran's decision to have him killed being the last straw, so to speak, and it alienates the brothers, and finally jon begins to give in to his anger… his resentment over his entire life and begins to burn away all that made his old life, and begins by rebelling against his own brother and drawing the seven kingdoms into this interregnum. Rest of the suggestions made here are super solid, though. as a working writer (both on this platform and in traditional novels, academic publishing, etc), i think the structure, the ideas for setup and payoff, the continuation of GRRM's themes and taking the characters in interesting and believable new directions for the show.
There is an old saying in comedy, if you by the setup, you buy the bit. It would be hard to fathom jon risking so much for his actual culture for what is essentially a sapient stranger, and the moment his brothers' blood stains the ground on account of him literally choosing another species, i think realistically, jon let's this kid die. he is dumb sometimes, but that's … that's narrowminded to the point of absurdity. he was absolutely willing to kill the wildlings until he finally met them and fought along side them, got to know them, came to respect them, whereas he doesn't kno anything at all about the CoTF and it's a risk of open warfare against the people he swore to protect against the entre kingdom which has just now seen his family done right - that's what guts him, his *family* is redeemed despite him doing the majority of the fighting. bran strolls in after jon fights literally the dragon queen invader who had westeros on his knees *while he was a legitimate heir to the throne*. I can absolutely see jon losing his comportment, composure and ultimately his perspective by beginning to think that the only way to live in westeros is by the sword
a legitimately dope ass pitch though, and i know full well how something on paper might not work but can work well through the right execution, so hopefully you don't take this as me just dumping all over your vid. just thowing some ideas around, kind of combining the child with the aging, bitter jon so that the child issue becomes that proverbial straw and then the wildlings are not ighting out of jon's urge to save the child, but out of jon's true sovereignty, their *actual freedom* to not be *forced into compliance*. That is the meaning of we do not kneel … and i think some mixture of these two ideas could work well, because .. fuck man, we could not drop the ball as hard as it was dropped by D&D. personally i think it comes down to just losing their fucking passion for it. Bad storytelling is one thing, but having visible water bottles and starbucks on the fucking set is an entirely different level of carelessness that speaks to their mindset. rush to the finish line, little to no care. with the proper setup and characterization, this could totally work.
cheers man, liked / subbed -[already]

Bran could ultimately declare on the north because it allies with Jon and Bran has become a sort of dr Manhattan in his viewpoint. bran could also toy with the idea of pushing his power level through blood magic and warning able bodied people in his pursuit of power in the name of keeping peace from some potential negative future he has seen.

I love that you were able to think of a story so skillfully and one that is totally plausable for these characters. I have also challenged my own ADHD mind to think of a story and it was not nearly as good 😂.
I have just a few suggestions which may or may not check out for you.
    1. I second another commenter who said Jon Snow aka A.Targ would tame Drogon in the battle breaking him from the warg powers and here's why. If Jon is the Prince who was Promised, it makes sense that he would be the only one able to do so or if hes not, maybe the child of the forest would be able to help him by using some kind of surreal power. Drogon spending the rest of his life being controlled/warged by Bran would be a tragic fate for him.
"Zaldrizes buzdari iksos daor" A dragon is not a slave.
Some would say Drogon would never let Jon ride him but I have come to a conclusion that he could. Its easy enough to explain by the fact that he chose not to kill Jon in the final episode and dragons can change their riders/alliances as they do on HOTD so why would Drogon be any different? Unless of course he is special in some way because Dany (who is the other contender for being the Princess who was promised) brought him to life.
    2. Where is Tyrion in all this? You mentioned him but I feel he would have more of a role in this story especially with his ties to Jon and because he's Hand of the King.
    3. Bran could mention Dany instead of Ygritte to upset Jon. I felt that Jon always knew it would never work with Ygritte but Dany commited atrocities while Jon was still loyal to her. Just an idea.
    4. No turning Tormund into an undead please although it is a decent idea. JMO but he is Jon's ride or die and has been too good for for too long to turn heel now (although it is intriguing). Perhaps his character could meet his end another way. I love the idea of the child of the forest turning, perhaps create a new beloved character and have that one be the new night king? Again JMO but our fandom has been through enough with them butchering seasons 7 and 8. Destroying of characters with Dany going Mad Queen in 2 episodes 🤦‍♀️.
I'm sure the Jon Snow sequel will happen one day. Wouldn't that be interesting if they actually did use a fan idea in the end? Go get your Starbucks gift card!

It reminds me, conceptually, of the El Camino film they did to follow up Breaking Bad. A fun, smaller film for fans who couldn't get enough of the main series to enjoy. It was fine and seemed to be modestly successful.
Problem is, nobody has fond memories of the GoT to cash in on, while HotD is only making things worse. They'll have to do Robert's Rebellion because it's the only event everyone cares about, starring characters people still like.

Not bad honestly, all really good & intriguing. BUT, there are problems.
First, no one likes S8. By making this, it's officially canonizing it which I don't feel many people would be happy about, & I feel not many would bother watching this given it reminds them of the S8 atrocity. Unless of course they rewrite S8, or just do GOT from the beginning, but animated, which I highly doubt they'd do unless they're really REALLY desperate, otherwise I see maybe a few ten thousand interested people watching this & not the hundreds of thousands or millions it should be getting.
Secondly, redoing the White Walkers or a similar threat a second time, why would anyone bother watching it? The first one had years of build up & amounted to nothing, how would the second be any different? By which I mean, years of build -> one big battle, that's it. You'd have to have this new threat go "all the way" to King's Landing, anything less would be just that, less.
Honestly, I feel your writing skill would be better applied elsewhere.
    But still, really interesting.

I really like this idea for the show. It kind of feels like a self fulfilling prophecy with Bran wanting to exterminate the child of the forest to not get white walkers again, but ends up causing that exact thing in the end. Bran already screwed Hodor, why not the world as well with another white walker threat.

  • @johnlienhart2717

I loke Bran mentioning Ygritte. To my knowledge, Jon never told him about her. So it reminds us the extent of Bran's powers, and how he's willing to use those powers to invade people's privacy, even his own brother's very close emotional scars.

  • @AprilMarvin
    @AprilMarvin 8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

All jokes aside....this honestly sounds good. The whole brother vs brother thing could be gutting if they can pull it off. And in my headcanon during that battle between the crown and the wildlings Bran will first try to warg Ghost to kill Jon but he will realise that he can't because guess what Ghost already is being warged by Jon and it can cut to Jons eyes flashing red briefly, paying homage to og warg book Jon. And then bran pulls his last straw and brings out drogon.

  • @e-trax8835
    @e-trax8835 14 นาทีที่ผ่านมา

I like everything about this except the dragon part. As I understood it to warg into something or someone u need to have a deeper connection towards the person/animal. So for Bran to just be able to warg into a dragon of all beast I found a bit rushed and flawed. What I would rather see is 2 Battles The 1st up in the North when the crown invades and loses, since Jon defeats them with the teritory and his wits.
However they lose a lot of fighting people in the process and the Crown Army need to retreat towards Winterfell, which would create an interesting dynamic between the Stark Troops and the Crowns Army, since they basicly fighting the guy that freed the north aka the white wolf. Bran would then start looking for Drogon to find him and gaining an advantage in the battle.
Meanwhile he will send Tyrion to confront Jon up north. This could also lead to an interesting development since Tyrion would see the children of the forest and might even develop sympathy towards them. Also Tyrion would reunite with Pod for a brief moment. This could lead up to a future conflict between Bran and Tyrion. The Diplomacy seem to fail tho and Tyrion returns with the warning that as long Bran lives she/he aint safe anywhere. She/He will overhear this conversation and potentially decide her next move here.
At the same time Bran will look for Drogon and eventually finds tracks of him near old valyria. To Form a connection with drogon he needs to find him, so he orders Brienne to escort him with a squad of capable soldiers and sailors.
The "Wildlings" lost a lot of man during the Last Battle, so Tormund, a few others and children of the forest also go for a quest to gain more allies from within the north. So by the episode 7 or 8 bran is going for a trip and so is tormund. Meanwhile Jon remains in the North with Pod preparing for the next battle.
That leaves Tyrion "alone" in kingslanding with his doubts and a lot of time to think. And Read. So he will read up about the children of the forest and the 3 eyed raven (potential reuinion with sam). From this Point you could literally go in a lot of directions with the final 2 Episodes.
Game of Thrones was too good to just let it die like this, thanks for making me nerd out in the commentsection of a game of thrones video again. Great Video.

I don't think this story would work as a film ... Bran's turn to the 'dark side' would be too sudden and jarring. We wouldn't get time to explore the complexities of it ...
But as a 6 episode sequel mini-series ... I think it would work REALLY well ...
I'm still not sure Bran would turn against Jon to this kind of apocalyptic level, but it does make a fascinating concept.

With the White Walkers dead, the North is no longer a major focal point. I'd like to see what happens after Brand dies and the Iron Islands elect a King who attacks the North because Sansa isn't a battle commander and the North will be eipe for the taking. That's a better story. The North is open season.

I fear in the end this would really just boil down too "Realm unites against the White walkers". The main problem is Season 8 ended which was supposed to be a very stable realm which is totally unrealistic. I feel we have a good opportunity here to address the plotlines from the books that never made it to the show like what happened to Dorne? Who rules it now? And Where was young griff? Does he invade with all these short reigning rulers now?
Ultimately its very difficult to do anything GoT related thats so soon after season 8 simply because it really fucking sucked

While all of the negotiation is going on between Jon and Bran, what does the child of the forest have to say? How does she/he/they react to being at the heart of all this infighting?
