@WithCielo there are literally ONLY 3d renders of the camera at this point. Do you seriously believe that a product can evolve from a digital image to a ready to sell state in a few months? Rollei 35af was in development for a couple of years and we have seen PHOTOS, not renders more than a year before launch.
While it would not surprise me if they have delays, or bit different specs in the end. Are they aiming too high for first product? maybe. But I don´t think it will be a scam. Risking your reputation as analogue photography shop for 5 euro pre-orders is also quite a risk.

@@WithCielo I certainly think it is not a scam. What I see online is people are mainly going on about that they use stock photos, the timeline is to fast, and there are only renders. Of course it is logical that people are a bit conservative with many crowdfunded products that have failed, but this is not a kickstarter product many seem to forget the other points. Yes that they used stock-photos was a mistake in my eyes. Even if it is quite logically that if they working on their first sample, that the photos can´t be from the camera, it should still be mentioned. First of all, I am happy that they put their storename on the product, which gives it a bigger connection than if they just created a household name. They are putting their reputation as shop on the line. If they wanted to scam people, I would at least give it a different name, so that searches would not end up at your store later. Also what many seem to forget is that it is only 5 euro deposit and not for whole price. And yes for a scammer that wants to make quick money that can make sense, but for a shop not. And about the timeline: Why would you give yourself such a fast timeline if you don´t want to keep it. I get that many think it is too fast, but many also don´t seem to take into account that the project started more than 2 years ago (of course, we need to believe their timeline for this, but the timeline does not make sense if you don´t intend to keep it). So I think they think they can make this timeline. Of course making a product is not easy, so I would not be surprised if they found an error during first batch and they need to redo it. So I can see a delay happening. And about the specs I can also see it something changing if they don´t get it to work in their design now. But I think they intend to deliver what they say on the site. I hope they soon can show a bit more. And with their timeline, I guess that should be possible
In the Godzilla movie, all the digital cameras got blown out by Godzilla's EMP and only the film camera still worked so if politics continues like it's going, definitely go film all mechanical

As you may tell from my profile picture I am an old school film photographer, I grew up with a bunch of TLR's 127 and 620, then 126 and 110, 35 and 120 on and on. I remember sending the film out to Price Rite photo lab, and waiting patiently for prints to come back, Still have boxes full of slides, negatives and prints which I have mostly scanned into my computer. So now I am digital, I remember working in radiology running films through the processor, sometimes making "Artifact Art" out of films that came out with crazy artifacts, and we could have a party with the money from silver recovery. All memories but I just don't see any advantage to going back to film now when everything gets digitized anyway, please tell me if I am wrong because the little Pentax is so pretty. I have a digital Pentax Q that is my stealth camera, and I can do Panoramas on my Sony Cybershot!
You are lucky to have lived through the film era. I think there are a few reasons why a lot of us are loving the film cameras. Personally I love the lack of immediacy of seeing the photos - it allows me to take the shot and move on. I also like having to put more thought into each shot since each one costs $$$. And having less photos to wade through at the end of the day cuts down on time and decision paralysis. Lastly, my most favorite reason - I love the look of film. Yes it can be sort of replicated in Lightroom but that takes time to edit. Thank you for stopping by!
I am loving my Pentax 17! I have pre-booked Analogue aF-1. And, PetaPixel awarded Rollei 35AF the worst camera of the year😂😂😂 So, don't worry about missing out on anything.
A lot of varying reports on the Analogue Camera. The company has been around for a while. But if you look at the website there are only computer renderings. Not one picture of a real life prototype. The computer rendering also does not show a working camera. Many missing features and the camera doesn't open in the renderings. So I am skeptical. It seems pretty early in the process to be collecting peoples money for a presale. to go from a computer rendering that doesn't represent a functional camera to a saleable camera, in only 5 months (May 2025 release date) is highly doubtful. I am going to wait until they are physically available.
Those are all good points. I wonder if it's just a terrible marketing fail or if it's truly a scam. I'm trying to be optimistic. I believe the website says "mass production" in May/June. So probably won't ship til after. Is that enough time, idk.

I don't think they're remotely thinking of producing a film camera. Fujifilm maybe, but not likely. Though if I can wish - I wish Sony would since I have all the lenses already.
Im extremely skeptical about the 'Analogue' company. Im Dutch and pretty well into the Dutch analog scene, and AFAIK, this company has been around reselling used second hand camera's found in thrift shops, at incredible inflated prices. Pentax (and MiNT) have years of experience designing and manufacturing camera's/parts, with probably millions into the R&D for camera development. There is no way this company, which has existed for not even a decade, is able to produce a quality P&S.
Analogue camera is an ugly hunk of plastic and it's a scam anyways I don't understand how anyone in their right mind would buy that horse manure for 300 Fricking dollars wtf? Why don't you just buy a vintage real camera made of metal with interchangeable lenses for way cheaper instead of this dog shit, this is mind boggling

While the Analogue company commented under his video to provide additional context and clarifications, I still doubt that this project will ever launch. Even if it does, their timeline seems overly ambitious. For now, I’ll wait to see how things unfold over the next few months before making any decisions, though I do wish Analogue success with their project. I think the jury is still out on this one. William Sheepskin made great points. But I also read Analogue's reply that is pinned on his video. The film community is fragile one, and somewhat in a precarious situation. Any company that is earnestly trying to move it forward should be given a chance and not trashed unnecessarily. But key word here is "earnestly". That's what's in question. Are they earnest?
