Yes they used rifles once they were introduced to them during the mid 50s of the 19th century.
    Before that, they used arquebuses.

funny enough the top two weapons on that weapons wrack aren't battlefield weapons but law enforcement weapons/tools. primary use was to catch criminals by using the barbs to hook their clothes or pin their limbs. We still today use a modern variant that has no barbs or blades.

Swords and samurai were a romanticized fiction. Musashi, the Sword Saint, was born well after Nobunaga and his subsequent heirs had united the country under the gun.

They were brought originally by portuguese traders, but then they started producing their own. The matchlocks were of at least equal quality to European made ones and they were really widely used even to the end of the samurai. The real guy that inspired the movie “the last samurai”, was more of a guerrilla fighter and his troops used modern weapons when they could.

From what I've read there were initially plenty of samurai and daimyo who found the use of firearms distasteful and brushed the weapons off. They then got shot to pieces by the samurai who thought "these 'gun' things kick ass." In pretty short order.
